Current 10+ years of an RP idea, finally finished, on 10.10.2025. Goodnight Raven Squad, you were the best, wildest, most silly near future SOF RP that lived on the guild, and you got a worthy send off :)

Bio

I've RP'd for the best part of over 15 years now here on the Guild, and particularly like military settings, both contemporary, past and near future. I have even dabbled in a little more experimental RPs, as well as created a plethora of 1x1s over my time in the guild. I like creating RPs with a distinct flavour- and often shift between narrative-led RPs to semi-randomised plots. I've been more a GM lately than a player, and don't really lean into fandom- instead, exploring my own universes lifting themes from other source material.

My main interests are military-themed, near-future RPs, with a focus on technology. But I'm beginning to push what that RP idea looks like- taking inspiration from lots of media and focussing on the fun, indulgent side of RP, whilst also exploring the lows and emotional side.

Raven Squad is a project over seven years in the making, and focusses on a class-based, eccentric yet half-grounded near future special forces team that acts as a response team where you can't send any special forces team in. It's incredibly dumb, incredibly loose, and yet, has delivered some of my favourite plot points in RPG. A brainless action flick a la John Wick and Kingsman meets a complex thriller with a fun left turn in it, Raven has been the culmination of over a decade of loving special forces RPG, gaming influences and other silliness in a package that has provided players with something quite different to a normal military themed RPG. While at an end, this is an RP that is a signature- it's silly as hell, takes itself barely seriously, and is what peak fun military RPG to me should be.

Delta Hyper is a love letter to Wipeout, F1's Drive to Survive (Netflix) and contemporary Formula One, with influences from solarpunk, cyberpunk, transhumanism and other posthumanist concepts. An RP that follows pilots in their ups and downs, it's a story that hasn't got me playing an actual character, but framing the camera at each pilot (played by others), and presenting it as if it were a documentary. Lifting elements from TTRPG, this is a Racing RPG like no other and no parallel exists- using dice rolls and randomisation, with a stats-driven system to generate race results, rather than actually RPing the races, players experience the fast-paced, dynamic world of anti-gravity racing. This means that come Qualifying and Race, the results are genuinely a surprise to everyone- and based on decisions made through dilemmas and decisions made between races. Friendships, rivalry, the glamour and even a little political undertone play out in 2094, in a colourful, utopian future that focuses on the fight to take first place.

Then there's Tactical Breach Wizards: Fireteam Hex. First use of any set IP as a formal setting, this is an RP that offers a darker mirror to Raven Squad, focussing on the other side of the equation- unlikely heroes in an uncomfortable position. I don't normally do fantasy, but the world, the lore, the feeling of the characters and the ability to write a comedy just was too difficult to pass up. An RP that focuses on a group running away from a variety of threats as wanted mercenary wizards in the middle of a post-revolution, Eastern-Europe adjacent 1990s to present Polavia.

Lastly, Dispatch: Heroes of Claremont. This is another IP-adjacent world, albeit drawing on a different setting and a new cast of superheroes. As my "first" proper superhero RP, this combines workplace comedy, a Storyteller-lite system and a fun, diverse, and large cast together in a dynamic, diverse setting.

I'm pretty flexible and try and get back to people on ideas and responses, but sometimes, I may become very busy and it will take some time till I am un-busy. I aim to clear posts within a week!

I don't feel like posting right now, it's a bit too soon. Plus I feel like letting shit sink in after what happened across the realm. Highgarden is going to be busy, and in some ways, I don't want to rush through what is going on. All of the characters on my end are sinking into what is happening, so I don't want to force say, the Vale or Riverlands to be left behind, nor Daenys. I want to see that colourful character too :)

I am looking forward to seeing this. Shortly. Hehe, dwarf puns, no matter how shameless they are, they're there as material, and it would make me half a man to continue making them. :P

Alerie is definitely a mixture of Olenna and Margarery, the red hair, I don't know how that can be explained mind (and no, she is no bastard, she is definitely a child of ..while interesting, I don't want to do that avenue of things). Garland, I genuinely can't draw comparison, he is no Loras, nor Mace, probably more like Willas or Garlan of Martin's description of the Tyrell family.
I suppose, you can observe it, but it's that willingness to use pressure and subterfuge, that Garland wouldn't use, or at least, he does it in a way that would seem by modern standards, to just be politically manoeuvring, not even by marriage or killing people, it's just making things exist, be it men in the capital, or the fact that on paper at least, the Tyrells are not wanting to incite war, they won't cast the first sword...while we know that Alerie plans to do it so indirectly, it basically is. It's why half his letters are pretty inclusive, it's that sort of surface PR you see, in some ways...and I would say that honestly, while he's provincial and he is a little cynical at times, he knows how to put a smile on his face and be that image. As I've chatted with Blue before, he still has to learn a lot, and no doubt, his character is one that has problems, many of which come with the fact that he isn't born for his Lordship. I wouldn't dare compare him to Eddard, he isn't the person who would make the same mistakes, but he IS similar in that he probably is too bound to the ideas of the "Realm" when others just see it as something to snatch. It wouldn't be slavish honour that would kill him, it would be someone that just would flat out kill him, just because of reasons.

Remember, the Tyrell word is still really, really strong- would anyone know they were responsible for killing King Joffrey because they felt he was a bit of a dickhead and had to get taken down? Nope, and neither does anyone know that right now outside of that tower, they're going to, well, starting with the south-west coast of the Westerlands, basically start giving a green light to steal Westerosi freeholders and peasants for Yunkish purposes, with not a single Tyrell man involved, and even right now, no great exchange of gold. That is where Alerie shines the most- she knows how to control that trust, and knows that at the end of the day, Jehrilla is a means to an end who wants to do that. It's a risky buisness, and who knows, Jehrilla could run and use that information to help the Crakehalls, or the Martells, or the North, anyone to say "They have lots of shit", but Alerie wouldn't have taken her up to that tower to tell her what she said if she didn't have a prior knowledge that it would work, that it simply just would not backfire for the both of them. It's that beautiful mixture, it is so well controlled, that within the family, they have a huge respect, this sort of really golden image, unlike many other families for what they do, the Tyrells are liked by many, or just a bit too fancy for some people's liking. People like Garland are never going to rule, mind- he's either going to win and be exactly where he was you know, before all this shit happened (which is depressing for the best of us), or he's going to end up dead, and the Reach is going to spend the next decade, regardless of any external war, in it's own civil conflict, or just really, really uncontrolled.

Remarkably, I haven't seen a SINGLE character even like Tyiron Lannister, thinking about it. If there is, then I haven't felt it yet, the wit and the absolute badassery hasn't hit me just yet. There are one or two in my mind that I have seen, but I am not sure.

And yeah, I will wait for Vale/River, I feel like we have left them for a while, and I am still reeling- though I think it will basically wrap up all of the posts, including pork maester, and Willas seeing dragons afar from the hills over Flea Bottom.
Eddard must be spinning so hard in his grave right now, Rickard really doesn't give two fucks :P

Oh, and I do plan on posting a little further down the line, probs after Manatee and perhaps either a Vale/Riverlands post. We haven't heard much from them in a while.
DRAGONS!!!!!

Enough said.

Yep.

@Abefroeman Daenys has a dragon, just haven't introduced it yet.

The Second Dance of Dragons? I feel it so.
NOPE
It is an interesting angle to take, no doubt the Seven will still be very skeptical of a faith that enjoys burning fucking people. Is Garland a defender of the faith? He's a defender of having sex and being chivalrous, motherfuckers. Not his thing, but no doubt, if the Targaryens called them out on it, no doubt fire will meet fire.
Natalie looked over, her helmet sitting in her lap, the titan of a woman enjoying this little ride in the compact transport aircraft. She had been inhaling pure oxygen for an hour now, as had the others, the fact that you were 32,000 feet making for an environment which was begging for. Her legs wide, you could take in just how armoured every single part of her body was, it literally could withstand pretty much all of the firepower that the other men within. Her GAU-19 was in a specialized jump pack, mounted onto her side, as well as a parachute system installed onto the suit, capable of HALO, and similar to their previous insertion, based of a large round parachute to take the weight. She felt big once more, and despite the fact that she had suffered a wound that would have practically killed anyone , Natalie Ivanovich Denisova tended to be made of stronger stuff. The Doctors had said it was remarkable, how quickly she had reacted to treatment, and within three weeks, already been pumping lead in the gym, then in this suit. They told her it was not advisable. Doctors did not know her body, Natalie said to herself. They knew very little about what was under this, all seven foot two of her being, being able to do whatever it took to get back.

Her sharp blonde hair had been colored slightly blue, and even though every single military figure would consider it a travesty, it was flowing to her neck, and with her beautiful face, it said. If you looked down from her face, a different figure emerged. Carbon black, hexagons, honeycomb, and what may have been the hurtiest of hurt lockers of armour, like her fiancee's. She put her hands into a fist and palm, feeling the weight, feeling the power in her body. She grinned, as she stood up, taking a deep breath in. The rustling of gear alone turned Ross and Jenny's sight to her, as she looked over at them, then over at Carl. She towered over him, looking down with a venomous smile underneath, the cooling system kicking in. As per usual, she was stark naked underneath the armour, and it was the way she rolled.
"Hmmm...I think you should ask yourself the same question, Lieutenant. You haven't seen our version of madness in a while. And I've almost died twice in the last few months, so I feel particularly mad today." She added, as she patted her GAU-19 on her side, smirking a little. She slid the helmet onto her head, pulling the oxygen supply that she had been breathing in from the aircraft out, to be replaced by that of through her own helmet. The helmet locked in, as the HUD fired up, already engaging in a mode suitable for freefall, as she felt it lock into place. Taking in air, she gave a hand to Victor, smirking through her visor, as she looked on at the others, towering over most of the men in the cargo hold, alongside her fiancee.

Ross looeked on, as he put his visor down, standing up, his ammunition rucksack mounted on his front and a rig on his back, oxygen flowing, as it did on Jenny's suit, in a similar manner, over the armoured faceplate.
"Fuck, we are going to have a fun time, aren't we? It's still two and a half minutes of freefall, even in these suits!" Jenny asked over the radio, checking her own LMG, the belt-fed MG4 sitting in it's position, as she checked Ross's rig, before he did the same for her, looking over over, the two Juggernauts aware that they were going back to the void, on this evening.
"No doubt, but keep an eye on your altimeter. These two are going to pave concrete through hell. Holy shit, I thought you couldn't get more fucking armored, Bear." Ross said, as Natalie chuckled, her voice like gravel today, a dark Russian female's voice rather than her sweeter French-sounding accent.
"Well, we found a way. It is laser-precise, and I have a weapon that fires fifty caliber rounds at a rate of 800RPM. It's the same plate, but with technology that should still be in a scientist's laboratory. The visor alone is made of materials that sound like they're from...what is that show, with Spock?" Natalie said, her Russian accented English kicking in a little harder than of late, probably due to the last operation that she had been on involving a hefty amount of them.
"Star Trek? Hey, have you seen any TV over the last decade?" Jenny said, semi-jokingly, as Natalie glanced a stare.
"I would watch tongue, Sergeant. Anyway, you're going to be up first. To secure the LZ, then we will probably be above you. Remember, we can provide fire from above, depending how high we pull." She added, looking across, as she looked out at the rear cargo door, then back at everyone else. She looked across at the door, walking over, reaching into her hip.

From the hilt, she pulled it out, the sight of Athena's Wrath could be seen as she raised it high, scraping the roof of the cargo bay, turning around and planting it into the floor, one handed, before inspecting the blade. It was as beautiful as it felt, it was like her armour, not a show, not some medieval weapon, it had a blade sharper than , and it had a design that was not alike what she wore. Laser precise, but a weapon of huge size, and brutal methods, as she stroked it in her gauntlet.
"You have a fucking sword?!" Jenny added, looking on in shock as Natalie held it with barely an floundering problem, the huge fucking weapon sitting comfortably, being her own size. It was insane, how that was possible, she thought to herself.
"Oh, so now I get criticized for not watching Star Trek, because I watch real woman TV. If I am honest, it works better than a Scimitar." She added, Ross chuckling.
"It's the fucking Mountain and his wife. We're in safe hands." Ross added, as he checked over his gear for the last, last time, before heading past Natalie, who had slid her sword back, heading to open the cargo door. With a simple switch, the door began whirring open, the sight of orange on the distance, the evening setting in, with clouds far, far below, partly covering the world that they were going into, the noise loud as hell, even through his helmet.
"Shit, this reminds me a lot of our first time, Carl! Popping the fucking cherry by dropping into a city on our lonesome, then hot extracting the fuck out....well, I guess fate likes it's repeats!" Ross yelled over the comms, looking across to the group, readying himself up to follow Carl and Jenny.
Did a tad of editing. If there is any shit that you see that does not look right, then I will sweep through it on the next few days.
Wow, that looks pretty sweet. So far, I can imagine them to be a wild card indeed, it's truly something that could yield anything in regards to the current dynamics in the Sven Kingdoms.
Meh, I will try and edit and incomplete or incoherent parts of my post soon. I am once again, tired.
