Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. But what if they just never actually got around to experimenting on her? What if they just ran some tests on her just to learn about the biological workings of humans, and ended up escaping afterward? Or maybe they just threw her into one of their gladiator arenas to see how far a human would make it?

As she listened to the little girl's words, Souls took another drag from her cigarette. There was a silence after the girl had finished, as the cigarette was still in between the black haired teen's teeth. The stillness was near deadly, only broken by the muffled sound of the other students' 'Do you have a roommate's and 'Nice to meet you's happening outside. It remained for what must've been an eternity, until, finally, Souls wrapped her fingers around the cigarette and tapped the ashes into the tray. Suddenly, she was surrounded by a serious, slightly intimidating, air as she put her elbows on her knees and leaned on them, staring Skyler straight in her eyes.

"Kid," she said, her eyes narrowing, "I bet there's a good number of nice, innocent cunts out there who'd just love to be your roommate, and yet you decided to come on in here and ask to be mine. So here's my guess:" Souls jutted the cigarette to point at the brown haired girl. "My performance down there awoke somethin' inside you. I'll bet you don't even know what it is. But it pulled you in here, with me instead of them." and she flicked the cigarette back to point at herself. "Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this. If that's the case, it's not too late to pack your shit back up and find a different room. But if not...then let me tell ya why we're doin' this." she paused to take a quick hit from the cigarette. "One should never abide by rules that don't abide by them. It's a shitty way to live. The only rules one should follow are ones that they make. Otherwise, you're just letting someone else live your life for you. Think of it as a protest, I guess." Souls took another pause to take another hit. So...you in, kid?"

Hmmmmm.....that could work...of course, there'd need to be a way for her to end up stealing it, which I might have an idea for. Originally, I was going to have her family and her ranch, which was small enough to avoid the eyes of the Parties for a long time, get destroyed by one of the Parties, while she took a horse and escaped, but this gives me another idea.

What if Erubesco killed most of her family, but captured her alive, since she was still a child and had not yet grown, and was untainted by the Gifted-gene, so they could do some unique testing on her. Once there, she employed the help of a winged bronco, and the two somehow made it out. This would mean the Erubesco is probably after her, and refer to her as her subject number, which is a trope that I've always found awesome. (If that didn't make sense, see Jean Valjean and 24601)

Quick question: so in the opening post, when you talk about the Gifted, you make mention of their presence in human history. Specifically, one of the things you say is that they were 'creature of lore'. I get that this is mainly directed towards humanoid monsters, like werewolves, vampires, and merfolk, but I was wondering if this also includes some of the more animalistic creatures. I guess what I'm asking is if there are any nonhumanoid Gifted. Like, I don't know, say a Pegasus that'd be the perfect companion for a wandering, wild west inspired cowgirl out to destroy the government who killed her people. Just a random example. From right off the top of my head. With no relevance to anything at all. Especially not my idea for a character. ^_^'
