This is asking for an RP in which the Southend-on-Sea furniture bots battle for control with the Korean casino bots, in an ultimate struggle that will destroy the world.

Suddenly building some kind of wall doesn't seem like a bad idea. Vote Frengo 2016 for RPG President.

Is it sad that I bought a 10yo Netbook from Ebay with the sole intent of using it just to write my RP posts?

Sea Gorillas are not a "personal" issue, and affect the entirety of mankind. It's morons like you that prevent social and cultural progress.

Can I still apply? If so can someone catch me up to the events thus far?

My side of the story:

Kalar Splint's rangers found a torched caravan on the Geshmere Road. The caravan came from the village of Okly, and Kalar decided to go and check the place out, to make sure it was okay. Along the way, he met Adria the bard and recruited her into his service, and also sent Liara - his trusted champion - ahead to scout Okly before he and his men got there.

Liara reached Okly, found it in scorched ruins and saw a whole bunch of bad guys, and then skulked away. Adria, who was sent ahead because of her wolf-stamnia's ability to outpace the human rangers, blunders into aforementioned bad guys.

Kalar and his men catch up, and arrive just in time to save her a good shoeing from a bandit warlord, and his villainous cronies.

I would recommend reading at least the last page of IC for more details, but if you want to walk into my story as a good character, then I would be happy to make room for your arrival and brief you on the other players involved, and their characters.

For what's happening elsewhere, ask Titan.
My thoughts,

On the fourth wall: I think only one person has conceived this idea from what has been written in the opening post, I myself certainly didn't consider it. Therefore I'm going to go ahead and say like any RP that does not specifically refer to a "fourth wall", there shouldn't be one, unless this RP is to be a comedy. Comedies are not my thing, so therefore I am against the notion.

On Technology: I'd vote for a typical fantasy/steampunk mixture, kind of like Warcraft, where you have your traditional medieval stuff spliced with crude and wondrous inventions. That way there's something for everyone.

On Magic: I always like it when doomsday level magic "used to be a thing", but isn't anymore. However, relics and hidden powers belonging to the distant dead are available to be found, and can become centers of interest for any aspiring villain. In summary, I'd say keep magic in the middle areas, allow moderate strength for the most gaming-minded writer, but I would advise straying away from trying to create some kind of multiplayer arena killing machine, because I don't think this RP wants to go down that road. It should be about the story, not how many other characters your character can "kill".

On Lore and the World Around Us: Let the players make things up as they go, but include close GM supervision to prevent contradictions and outlandish craziness. Advise people with ideas they think might cause a stir to first contact the GM so that the two can figure things out. This way no one gets stuck waiting for the "person with initiative" to spawn monsters and challenges for their characters - we can all pick up the mantle, and take charge. May end up being a little chaotic if we have too many immature/thoughtless writers with us, but it would help with post blocking under the right conditions.

And that is all I have. :)

EDIT:

On the Tone and Mood: Speaking from personal preference, I like my Rps serious, although tongue in cheek comedy is welcome if executed correctly. However, I'm willing to go as far as the middle ground between seriousness and nonsense to make myself more versatile to the views of others on this subject.
@Cubix

Sariel will probably not be getting any help at this meeting from any actual evidence as it will take several days for the lot of them to get to the capital.

But who knows we could just retcon this to have happened days ago and then they show up at the meeting anyway. If anyone has an opinion on that feel free to speak up.

I feel that to be an obvious avenue, we could fast forward the messenger's arrival after the Battle of Okly, and then we could also progress the events surrounding White Woods to the "present day".

By the by, what's evil been up to all this time? Are you one-manning it, Titan?

Kalar was supposed to be a side story, a minor spring off, but he and his companions have taken center stage it would seem. Not that I mind that, of course. It would be nice if the evil characters could be do something concurrently though, so I don't have to keep making stuff up for them :P

Or have they abandoned us?
@IcePezz Regarding Liara, she can simply sleek out of the surrounds and join Kalar, or can appear at Adria's side I guess. I left her presence ambiguous to allow me a bit more freedom in my post, sorry if that's thrown a spanner in the works. Adria's predicament would have demanded quick and decisive action though, on Kalar's part, so I thought the talking could wait.
@Cubix

Well I had been hoping there would be one more round ofpost for breakfast and then maybe another round of people getting ready for the big meeting, but nobody has responded to my last post in the breakfast scene and its been like a week so I may move that forward a bit though The_Written_John and Leslie Hall are mia and Cuccoruler has neglected to post anything despite checking in often and being active in other rps so who knows if that can even happen till I creepily find out where they live and threaten then to post at gunpoint

@Frengo

As far as I am concerned you can get there if you'd like.

Uh huh, I'm there buddy.

I didn't specify casualties, but I imagine you'd lose some of your props to the barrage. Whatever happens now is anyone's guess.

@Absolis I mentioned Adria reaching for something, as in her instrument, but that's about as much "interference" as I have. I thought it would make sense, but if not I'll just remove that line.

Kalar Splint, Chief Ranger of Galuntrung Keep.

Outskirts of Okly.

The Rangers slowed their pace as one unit, customary of their disciplined fashion. Okly lay up ahead, burnt timbers and rising smoke clearly visible through the Geshmere Road's shrubbery. Few trees surrounded the village, and the ground was fairly flat, offering little cover for fighters who preferred their actions to be discrete.

"Attach dry strings," Kalar muttered, eyeing the black mass of people in the streets beyond.

The Rangers, and Kalar too, unstrung the damp strings from their yew longbows, and quickly attached dry replacements. A wet string impeded the mighty weapons' strength, reducing range and accuracy. Only a fool or a very desperate man used his bow in damp conditions.

With not a word uttered, Kalar motioned his men forwards, and they broke apart to form a loose firing line. Their presence was not immediately noticed by those who waited, and this provided the Rangers the time they needed to identify them as friend or foe. Kalar ducked close to the road, and hurried along the paving slabs, his boots squelching lightly in the filth. His men followed, ten paces behind, keeping their formation as they came upon tumbled bricks and slanted timbers.

Kalar spied his adversaries; they were not the people of Okly, in fact, none of them seemed familiar. Many had the look of bandits, and there was no doubt as to who led them. The aging Ranger Chief's eyes narrowed on the one he knew as the Red Eyed Terror, a hulking giant of a man responsible for the deaths of many an innocent. His existence, and continued survival, was a monument to Kalar's failures as a Protector of the Peoples.

A low and contained whistle rang out from behind, and Kalar turned his head slightly to see one of his rangers motioning off to the center of Okly, where the statue of Lord Denarius lay broken upon the pebble square. Ten figures, clad in darkness, stood in a circle around the remains of Okly's heritage.

And then the situation changed rapidly, as it often did, becoming fluid. The Red Eyed Terror had turned away from his men, and was stalking towards someone on the road - a small feminine figure, with a telling posture.

"Damn," Kalar hissed. Sending the bard forwards was a mistake of epic proportions. What had he been thinking? And where was Liara?

The Ranger Chief was faced with a difficult decision. Attack, and risk himself and his men against a numerically superior force, or retreat and leave Adria to her fate... a fate he had given her. Were Kalar a clear headed tactician when it came to the loss of a woman's life, he'd of scattered to the wind, gathered his Rangers in force and brought down the wrath of Galuntrung upon the Red Eyed Terror.

However, Kalar was not this way when it came to women. Painful memories of his wife and daughters, their faces clearer now than they ever were, haunted his strategy. He raised his hand, and a dozen longbows creaked as the Rangers drew back a volley. Just before he ordered them to lease, his eyes strayed to a collection of peculiar warriors north of the ruined statue, earlier obscured by some smoke and a stack of rubble, but now painfully visible for all to see. They were dressed in worn armour, and even from two hundred paces, their pallor seemed off. A quick head count put the enemy at around fifty, and Kalar inwardly despaired.

A frontal assault on an entrenched force? With twelve men?

Then the Red Eyed Terror hefted his maul, his crooked teeth gleaming in the sun, and Adria reached for something.

"Fire!" Kalar roared, drawing an arrow himself.

Thirteen arrows shot into the air, as thirteen longbows harped a devil's tune, and then they were sailing across the marred sky. Before they had even reached The Red Eyed Terror and his companions, another volley stormed forth, and then another. The air became thick with white feathered shafts, and they descended upon the enemy with no particular bias.

The Rangers of Galuntrung were expert huntsmen, great survivalists and made some of the best marksmen in the Kingdom, but they were only human. Some of their arrows would hit, some wouldn't. Kalar's intent however, beyond saving Adria, was to cause disarray in the ranks of his adversaries; he needed them half broken before he even considered a melee.

And so, in their loose line, the Rangers of Galuntrung kept up their barrage, unwavering to whatever may befall them in mere seconds or minutes.
*Cracks knuckles*

We there yet? Let me see what you guys have left for me.
@Crimson Raven

Oh, well if you're covering your ass to be able to join in the action much later then that's fine, though you may still want to make it more vague because I really doubt that the fight will last even an hour of game world time. Who knows though.

Kalar doesn't have enough men to warrant more than an hour of combat, he's only got a "dozen or so" with him. It's going to be a tight battle, but I got a feeling it's going to be a great scene. Galuntrung's best against a horde of roughians and evil. Maybe the Wolf Girl can sing a song about it after all is said and done, if she doesn't get brutally murdered first, of course :D

Here's what I have so far, the main factions have now been established.

I'm going to make Amokan my personal side project for this evening. Will be detailing the locations and various factions involved, but i wont make it too epic, just brief descriptions - enough to give those who visit there something to go on.

Perhaps some of you world builder enthusiasts would like to make your own little kingdoms/places, so we could stitch them together into some kind of region? Have it so that each area has its own problems? Maybe not as good as an over-arching plot, but it's better than everyone just rofling around in taverns and forests.

I'm personally tempted to take on the role of the Desert King; I'd certainly find work for your characters!

Anyways, I'll let you know when I'm done with Amokan so y'all can have a look see.
