Melia

"I think you misunderstand my statement, Lorand," Melia responded, shaking her head in regards to his comment about money. "Though it might be possible to buy us all a few months' or years' time at an inn, the giant influx of people suddenly popping into existence here might mean that we might not be able to get a room at All. Unless you're willing to try and buy people out, but you might be scalped pretty badly if we tried that."

Sighing and shaking her head, Melia glanced at the little fairy before massaging her forehead. Her dialogue was... What was it again? Right, chuunibyou. Really chuunibyou-esque. How did Lorand manage to put up with her...?

"A-anyways, I think that we should probably steer clear of any major cities or towns for the moment, if only to find a place to rest. If the place you're thinking of isn't going to be exploding with people in the next few hours, then I'll agree to that. Otherwise, well... Hopefully there's a place that sells coffee or something, because we'll be looking for a while."

Coughing a few times into her elbow, Melia opened up her inventory to check the gold she had on hand.
...
More than enough to fund a few people staying in a room for the next few days. That much was good, at least. But...

"Though... I think that we should probably try getting some sort of base of operations set up in the near future."

With that, Melia turned to address the two sisters who seemed to be standing by. Compared to the party, the two were... well, far underleveled, if anything. If there was any time to get their combat proficiency up, it'd be now, when the chaos was stopping any of the regular crowd from staking their claims.

Explaining the discussion to the younger child in as simple of a manner as she could, Melia turned to Yukimura and began to address the... Other issue at hand, trying to keep the discussion loud enough for her to hear, but not enough for Kirika to do the same.

"So... I understand that you've been reunited, and I would prefer not to mention this, but... Unless you're ready to tackle some of the bigger problems ahead of us--namely, getting stronger and making a place for ourselves in this world so we don't get pushed out--you both are going to be in a bit of a pinch. It's going to be dangerous, trying to get your sister to level; if you don't want her to go down that path, you'll have to work twice as hard to make up for it. This world is pretty dangerous, after all."
Takeyoshi Sakujima- 図書館で勉強する

The next few days passed by in a flash for Takeyoshi; by some miracle, the tengu had managed to find what he had hoped to; a library dedicated to the collection of information. Given the current 'feel' of the era from what he had encountered thus far, the logical solution that he had come to was that... Well, the standard for literacy was probably all over the place. Without things like the printing press (as far as he saw, most of the works were copied by hand), it only made sense...
Which made finding this place all the more important to him. Left mostly untouched as the years went by, the old couple looking over the place managed to keep most of the works in what seemed to be pretty good condition. A small amount of conversation later, he found that this library was left unvisited, for the most part. Being his usual goal-oriented self (and being an oddity for even stepping into the library in the first place), Takeyoshi asked to be taught the written language of the Celestial Empire. They seemed to oblige.

Of course, knowledge wouldn't mean anything without a meal on the table, and though he had spent the last few days feverishly reading over texts and digging up as much information as he could about the world as a whole. Most of the texts seemed to be historical in nature, which he didn't particularly mind; the lack of practical texts, however, did bug him. Also the fact that he had to be a member of a certain religion to get anywhere. Damn his old atheist tendencies!
...
Well, he could probably pass it off well enough, so long as there wasn't anything like mandatory church service. Screw that.

The sudden growling of his stomach reminded him of the problem at hand once more, though; the old couple had been kind enough to give both him and Miyu meals every day, but Takeyoshi hated the issue of debt looming over his head. If there was anything he wanted to avoid like the plague, it was debt. Surely, he'd have to pay them back for everything in the future; such good Samaritans deserved as much.

The sudden appearance of that damn ol' popup window straight out of a game pulled him back to reality, though; a bunch of quests came up, just as the first one had. Scanning them over, Takeyoshi began to mumble to himself.

"Hrm... Dungeon, turf wars, extermination, and exorcism... Not getting involved in gang fights and management, no combat skills to speak of, incorporeality plus bodies piling up... Seems like the only way we're getting funds is through a dungeon run. Miyu's gonna be all the firepower until I can find some magic tomes or something to learn off of, though..."

It truly was a miracle, his ability. Learning the language of the Celestial Empire was easier--much easier--than he had expected. Being a phonetic language made it a tad easier, though the words still felt weird coming out of his mouth as he was trying to flip back and forth between the languages and sentence structures in his head. Learning a language in a matter of days was in and of itself a miracle, but he certainly wasn't going to complain about that.

"Miyu, you wanna go for the dungeon? It seems to be the fastest route to some money without having to loot rotting corpses, it seems," he remarked, picking up another scroll off of the pile next to him and beginning to scan it over.
Uh... If they're hitting early, someone could come over with the bill?
...
Oooor they could say that they're all out of soup and offer other things. That works too.
Hrm... Guess I'll stake my claim on the dungeon. Tengu boy's gotta pay off this debt of his somehow, and it seems comparatively safer than... Killing things with no way to fight. Or gang wars.

Edit: oh right, Med, would you mind if I had Takeyoshi spend this timeskip learning the written language and getting a minor infodump in some library of sorts in the city? Just enough to get a grasp of... Well, what the infodump you gave us did.

"Sure, sure," Takeyoshi responded, waving off Miyu's (rather obviously blatant) denial about being asleep. He couldn't fault her for it, to be fair; last night had been a complete mess, and he'd have very much liked to have slept as well. Of course, with things being the way they were...

"So, with that matter settled... I'm hoping that some local law enforcement or things of the sort have dealt with that ordeal. If so, we're probably free to go explore for the moment. I've got other plans in mind, though..."

Slapping his cheeks with both of his palms, Takeyoshi shook his head and stood up from where he was resting. The geta were really not easy to move around in, but... Well, he'd probably get used to them fast enough. No stumbling or unsteady walking this time. Good.

"Anyhow, I'm going to go look for a library or a shop or something; somewhere I can start gathering information from. You're welcome to tag along; in fact, I'd probably prefer if you did," he said, flashing a cheeky smile at Miyu before walking down the street.

Well, it wasn't as if they had any other options; the aftermath of the mess they were just in meant that returning to wherever it was that they started from could end in disaster, especially if one or two of the hellhounds were still lurking around somewhere.
...
To say nothing of if he remembered exactly where it was in the midst of the chaos was an entirely different story, though.
Okay, so uh...

My post maaay be delayed by a few hours because of some mishaps in the system.
I now have to take a train ride to and from a GameStop in the city to pick up my game.
o.e
@Medjedovic: Thanks! I'll get to working on something soon.
...
And by soon I mean 'after I've run off to pick up my new copy of FE: Fates'.
=w=;;
Well, it's good to hear from you, at least. So long as this stays alive, I have no qualms about what is done.

I'm still curious about my earlier question; how exactly does written language work in-world as compared to that of our own?
Alright, thanks.

Actually, to follow up that question: gotta ask about reading/writing in-world. Is it the same spoken language but a different written language? Or same spoken and same written as, say, English? It's one of those nuances that actually makes me have to take things into account.
...
Also because it may or may not have an impact on my plans in the future. =w=;;
To say Torako's glance hurt wouldn't be that far from the truth; Liu knew full well what that look meant, even if he had only known the girl for the last day or so.

"...Fair enough, then. So long as you're prepared for what's going to happen today," he let out, shrugging his shoulders as he ordered his own breakfast: rice, broiled fish, and an egg. If nobody brought up the incidents of last night, then... Well, all the better for him. He would much rather that be forgotten as soon as possible either way. Kyang's response felt slightly... Foreboding, if that was the right word for it. Luckily enough, the injury he had sustained yesterday was as good as new, but...

"Well, I can't say I disagree. After all, we're going out manhunting again today," Liu nodded, glancing out the window at the slowly-changing sky. "But my arm's more or less fine by now; I can move it without any difficulty. Though... I'd rather it not be punched quite yet."

Flashing a pain smile at the polearm-wielding girl for a moment, Liu turned his attention to the still-growing stack of bowls from Torako's nonstop orders.
...
"Seriously, how do you drink so much? I swear, not even the heartiest of men in the village can down that much in one sitting!" he exclaimed, looking at the bowls stacking higher and higher. "Honestly, buffets would hate you..."

Shaking his head in disbelief, Liu turned back to the window, then at Kyang.

"Right. Once we're done here, we should probably get moving. The sooner we take the guy out and recover everything, the better... Assuming, of course, that the little Tiger Lily over here can still move."

That didn't take long, luckily enough; rather than having to wait for Torako to finish on her own, one of the waitresses came up to the group and kindly stated that, for all intents and purposes, they were out of soup and would have to make more to refill their stock.. The tower of bowls seemed to be of the verge of falling over, which was... Slightly distressing to everyone involved. Liu assumed the comment to be nothing more than a way to get her out of the place before they ran out of soup to serve to the guests who would come while Torako wasn't here, which was... Understandable.

"I guess that solves that, then. I'll go grab some food once we're done hunting the leader, so we should probably get moving. Suilong Mountain's a fair distance away, but we should be able to reach it in due time."

Standing up from his seat, Liu quickly pushed the chair back towards the table and promptly left the restaurant and moved off towards the gate and, subsequently, the bandit hideout. Hopefully, the other two were following close behind; he didn't want to have to worry like a mother duckling over its children to see if they were following, at the very least.
