Mission #1, Encounter #2 - Stairway To Heaven

Making their way through the bank Flare and Heretic could hear the sound of movements coming from the garage up ahead. Signalling his colleague with a wave of his new flaming firearm Flare indicated to the demon boy to take up positions either side her the door, ready to breach it in a proper military manner. A moment later Heretic kicked the door in with demonic strength before Flare spun around the corner and into the large room, only to find Brick standing in the middle of the otherwise deserted parking area.

"Where the hell are they?" The rocky faced rumbler growled waving his hands with agitation before bringing his fist down on the bonnet of one of the armoured trucks, denting the heavy plating and setting off an alarm which began to blare loudly.

Upstairs Bumblebee hovered several feet back as Rocksmith reached for the door to investigate the noise his companion had heard. Before he got a chance to open it though Gungirl 1 leapt through, causing the musical maestro to stumble back, blocking Bumblebee's line of fire just long enough for Gungirl 1 to rip out a seductively powerfully chord from her guitar which echoed down the hallway to where the SWAT Officers were standing with their backs to the heroes.

Before either of them could react the two Gungirls darted down the hallway, running passed the SWAT Officers who reached out trying to grab the girls, but not in the professional, dedicated manner of police officers trying to make an arrest, but as fanboy groupies would to a sexy young rock goddess who'd just manipulated their minds with melodious mischief.

"Stop them!" Gungirl 1 called back over her shoulder as she disappeared into the roof access stairwell, and obediently the SWAT Officers raised their MP5s, levelling them at Bumblebee and Rocksmith as they prepared to fire.

Hearing the commotion on the upper level Nightingale quickly darted over to the bank counter and grabbed the Smoke Bomb which was still lying there. Reaching into her medical kit she pulled out a grapple launcher, and with one quick action launched herself into the air, landing gracefully on the upper landing. Quickly tossing the bomb down the hallway Nightingale filled the enclosed space with think, blinding smoke for a moment as she turned to her companions. "Get to cover!"

Nightingale, Bumblebee and Rocksmith are trapped on the upper floor by three SWAT Officers while Brick, Flare and Heretic are down in the garage and Sigma is standing in the main hall. It will take at least one turn for any of the heroes to move up to the top floor and help engaged the SWAT Officers, meanwhile the Gungirls are escaping to the roof.

There's no way up the sides of the secure building, and the only way to get to the roof would be to fly or use the roof access stairwell currently blocked by the SWAT Officers.

Surprising the heroes Gungirl 1 uses Beguiling Tune to mind control a group of SWAT Officers before escaping with her partner.

Nightingale, Bumblebee and Rocksmith are on the edge of a balcony overlooking the main hall of the bank. There's no safe way down without injuring themselves gravely and their best option is to find a way to deal with the SWAT Officers quickly and follow the Gungirls up to the roof.

Just do it logically and don't just stand there and turn to road cause thats a good way to get shattered. The speed bump idea is good. unlike stupid movie I watched idiot should've been turned to rumble grumble grumble.

To be fair, if the armoured truck is pulling out of the garage it would still be accelerating and so wouldn't be travelling too fast, but you do make a very fair point about just how much kinetic energy even a slow moving mass of 20 tons would be able to impart on a target. At the very least it would KO him on impact, unless he handled it correctly in the narrative.

This is all presuming the Gungirls went to the garage, of course.

Speaking of which, are we all ready for me to start work on the next encounter then?
Back Alley exit makes more sense if they are being sneaky.

You missed the comment about the alarm on the fire door then?
At the moment then the team is spread out like this?:
@rush99999 Rocksmith Upper Hallway
@SimplyJohn Bumblebee Upper Hallway
@Eklispe Flare Garage
@knighthawk Brick Garage (outside)
@GodOfWar Heretic Garage
@Behemoth542 Sigma Main Hall (?)
My next post I'll have the Parademon do more damage to us and bring in Parademon #2. Should answer any other Level 1 questions...

Could you give a breakdown of the calculations you're making for the attack in the OOC after the next post, to show how the damage is done and the defence is dealt with?
@The Kid Lantern With Streak then her Speed would let her have 5 attacks, one of which could be her Rapid Punch special attack and the other four are just standard punches and kicks.

Would that mean she would cause just the 5 damage for all the attacks, or does the Rapid Punch get any sort of bonus?

When countering, Streak has her 2 special defences (Dodge and Evade), but would also get +2 Defence for her Speed as well? If she's facing the Parademon who has 4 attacks per post she'd be able to defend against all of them, is that right?

Does the same rule for Signature moves apply for Special moves too, where a Special attack could only be blocked with a Special defence, rather than with the speed bonus basic defences?

If Streak was facing off against a Parademon who decided to Bite, Axe Slash and Energy Blast all in the same turn, she'd exhaust her Dodge and Evade on the first two, and get hit by the third but would still be able to avoid the +2 basic attacks the Parademon would get from his Strength bonus with the +2 basic defence she got from her Speed bonus.
@Eklispe@knighthawk

Flare test fires the weapon
Flare is currently Inspired! (4/5) - +2 Defence, +1 Attack
Flare shoots at Stone Floor
Pistol is out of ammo, attack has no effect
Flare channels his fire powers through the empty pistol, charging it with pyrokinetic energy. Flare is now Armed - +2 Attack
Flare shoots at Stone Floor
Stone Floor is hit by Flare's fire-based ranged attack for 9 Attack, 20 Defence, 0 Health lost.
Creative: bonus 1 XP for Flare and Brick!
I vote for nightbeast, hot girl on girl action with deep penetration... of claws, that is.
Keep Nightingale. We need a good medic.
I put my vote for nightingale, too.
Ill put my vote in for Nightingale

That's three for Nightingale and one for Nightbeast. At this point I'm calling it as there's not enough voters to give the other Commanders a majority and since Nightingale's already on the scene she'd win in the event of a tie.

@Behemoth542 was online an hour ago but didn't make any posts, so I'm presuming he's finished the round and is happy not to take any more actions for now. If the rest of you are ready we can move onto the next stage.

Can I just check where each of your characters currently is in the bank? The options are:
  • Main Hall (where you just had the fight)
  • Front Street
  • Back Alley
  • Garage
  • Vault Access
  • Upper Hallway

Based on the intelligence the team has gathered you should be able to make a guess as to where the Gungirls are at the moment, and should try heading there as quickly as you can.
In a blur of light Streak suddenly appeared behind the Parademon, delivering a flurry of Rapid Punches into its back before vanishing away again as the beast turned to swing its axe in her direction, effortlessly Evading its attack.

Streak - 15
Parademon #1 - 7

"I turn my back for two seconds and this is what I find when I get back?" Streak said to Spitfire as she leant casually against the wall beside him, picking at a hangnail as though they weren't surrounded by an army of marauding invaders from beyond the stars. "If I didn't know better I'd guess you were trying to arrange a surprise welcome back party for me, only things didn't quite go to plan? I've warned you before about posting announcements on CraigsList, you never know who might be reading that thing."

Post Count : 1
This is just me: I think standard attack (punch, kick) should do the 1 damage just like any street person or mook with unlimited punches available. But if you put points into attack, you have trained and invested so your listed attacks should do double your regular damage because you have trained and practiced to deliver those attacks. Your signature ability at 3rd level should deal your relevant STAT in damage or prevent that much in damage.

There's still the narrative element to take into account as well.

A fast character with a speed of 8 might only get +2 Defence but when it actually comes to telling the story they'd be able to outrace Superman, landing an attack and getting clear before he had a chance to counter... and then get shot at by heat vision beams which they can dodge, using one of their own special defences.

@The Kid Lantern Having said that, I'm not sure what the point of the special attack are when they're not going to do any extra damage than a standard melee attack would.

Perhaps make it that basic attacks always cause 1 damage, no matter what Strength you have. Special attacks could then cause an additional +1 damage if Strength is 1-5 and an additional +2 if Strength is higher than that.

The Parademon with 2 Speed should've gotten three attacks in the first post, but only attacked once?

Spitfire with Speed 5 should've had four attacks, but again only took one?
