Thanks for the invite, but I'm gonna pass.
Maya’s eyes followed Griffon’s finger as he identified each of the other afflicted persons. He pointed to her and gave her mind’s second voice a name - Nightmares. That made sense when Maya thought about it except, being an atheist, she didn’t ever believe in the whole heaven-hell-angels-demons thing before. Maya managed a faint smile, the guy was sweet for not wanting to reveal peoples secrets, and brave for standing up to the demon and refusing to speak aloud. “Be careful what you choose to think about him, Secrets will tell him everything. That meaner is always ruining surprises.” By the tone of Nightmares’ voice, Maya could practically envision the little girl crossing her arms and looking towards Griffon with disdain.

She might not have been religious like the rest of her extremely Mexican-brand Catholic family, but Maya did love horror films. She couldn’t dream of watching things that would cause her more fear now, though. “So, if there are… demons… in us, does that mean we have to go through an exorcism?” Almost as if on cue, Nightmares played our her fears and cast out an illusion before Maya. It showed Maya’s body floating above the ground, limbs spread out as her body contorted wildly, bones cracking and foam seeping from her lips. Maya jumped back slightly and shut her eyes tight in an attempt to ignore the illusion. “You’ll never get rid of me that easy.” Nightmares said with her signature giggle.
Yay, you're back!
When Solenne spoke her language, it brought on feelings of warmth and comfort. America was nice, but Trixy was not a fan of the brutish English language, it lacked the culture and romance that she loved about French. Perhaps she was just a bit homesick because, no matter how far she traveled, her heart would always belong to France – to Francis…

Solenne called her by his old nickname for her; He was the only person to use her now-alias with such affection. Béatrix smiled against the cell’s receiver. “Serait une heure à partir de maintenant trop tôt ?” she spoke in French, reveling in the fact that she could do so and be understood. “I’m just heading into town to do some investigating, but perhaps we could grab some coffee and chat?” she asked, her voice uncharacteristically hopeful. Solenne agreed to a time and place to meet, and they ended their phone call with the usual pleasant formalities.

Trixy straddled the smooth seat of her Ninja and fluffed put her hair. She caught a glimpse of her reflection in the side mirrors - yes, the whole no-reflection thing is a vampire myth – and she cleaned up the edges of her eyeliner with her pinky finger. With one of her trademark killer smiles, Trixy decided that she was just stunning enough to meet up with her old friend-with-benefits. At least, that’s what the kids called them these days, or was that the slang from ten years ago? Ah, well, time flies when you live forever.

The engine roared to life at Trixy’s call, and off she was to paint the town red – hopefully literally. She sped around different areas and neighborhoods, trying to catch the rogue’s scent. Nothing yet, but it passed the time, and Trixy now found herself in the area where the café Solenne had suggested was. She parked her bike and pocketed the keys before walking down the sidewalk and into the quaint little coffee shop.
Maya brushed her hair down with her hand nervously. She looked around at the growing crowd of people gathering outside the castle. Were they just tourists, or other people plagued in the same way as her? Before she could think about it any longer, Nightmares spoke. "My good friend Pain is here. We've always had so much fun playing together." The demon girl's voice was childlike and eerie, she even finished the phrase with a fiendish giggle.

The voice made her uneasy, so Maya rubbed her arm gently before taking a few steps towards the castle. The doors opened to reveal a handsome fair-skinned man. He had ebony hair and crystal blue eyes, and she assumed that he must be Griffon. Instead of verbally greeting them he spoke through a text-to-voice tablet application. Maya tilted her head curiously, wondering why he used that instead of speaking.

As they walked down the hall together, it suddenly seemed like coming here wasn't such a good idea. If these people had something trapped in their heads that could do awful things to others like Maya did, perhaps they shouldn't be having a little get together. "Oh, don't be such a scaredy-cat. What could go wrong with eight demons being in the same old Scotish castle?" The voice chimed in with another menacing chuckle. Maya needed to say something to drown out the other voice, so she asked the first question that popped into her head.

"Can you speak? Or... does something bad happen if you do?" her voice was small and shaky, a few months ago she would have never dreamed of sounding so meek. But, Nightmares had her way of breaking people down, reducing them to one of their most primal emotions: fear.
@KatherinWinter do the demon powers work on other demon-possesed? If so, I'd like to know every characters deepest fears. :]
Sounds good to me, but what should we have amelia be doing?
Yeah, you were listed with all other accepted people so I think you are.
Steam billowed from the cup of herbal tea beside her as Maya held her fingers over the keyboard. The computer screen shined bright in her blue eyes as she attempted to write a blog without sounding like a completely crazy person. Therapy had turned out to be a complete and utter failure, the therapist didn’t even want to see her anymore, he didn’t even give a reason! He didn’t have to though, she knew why he didn’t want to be around her, she made him feel uneasy, just like she did with all the others. People saw their greatest fears before them whenever she was around, and those fears always turned into plagues of nightmares.

So, she wrote the blog entitled: "I don’t think I’m the only person in my head…”. Being a recent fine arts graduate, Maya had to take her fair share or English classes, so her blog was well-written and descriptive. Even so, giving it a proofread really solidified that fact that she was definitely losing her mind. Regardless of the possible negative consequences, Maya posted the blog and sent her most private thoughts out into cyberspace. With a deep exhale, she stepped away from the computer with the hopes that someone, anyone, would see her post and be able to offer guidance and support.

~~~ Some days later… ~~~
Maya busied herself by cleaning the shop and talking to the customers that stopped in. She had to make the conversations brief and keep moving, or else the voice would take over and cause trouble. Valerie, the older lady who ran the shop, was sitting behind the counter doing her daily crossword puzzle. For some unknown reason, Val was immune to whatever was wrong with Maya, maybe she was just too old to fear anything; Hell, the tough old broad didn’t even fear death itself anymore. Maya was just glad to have at least one friend still.
It was while Maya was gazing adoringly at Valerie, that her cell phone chimed with an e-mail notification. With the cleaning rag in one hand, Maya peeked at the e-mail with the other. It was titled: "I read your blog…". Maya continued reading with a mixture of curiosity and nerves swimming in her stomach. She was just over halfway through it when she dropped the rag and tears welled up in her eyes, ’I am here to tell you that you are not alone. There are others like you.’ She wasn’t prepared for the rush of emotion that the sentence had brought, and Maya struggled to wipe the tears away before Val could see them. She failed; Valerie looked up with worried eyes, but knew better than to pry.
When Maya had settled herself enough to speak, she said “Hey Val, could I maybe get some time off? I –” she looked up with a little more confidence than before. “I have to go to Scotland.” The old woman’s eyes widened only slightly before she nodded with a smile. “Of course, dear. You’re young; you should see the world before you end up stuck in one place like me! Especially if this trip will get you back to being your regular wonderful self.” Val’s voice was warm and kind and honest, she was like the grandma that Maya never got to have. “Thanks, Val, you’re the best!” Maya said before heading off to book a plane ticket.
~~~ Some days later (again)… ~~~

Scotland was one hell of a jump from Nevada, and that plane ticket didn’t come cheap, especially with such short notice. Thankfully, Maya lived a pretty basic, frugal, lifestyle and had stashed away a lot of the money she made from her art commissions for emergency usage. She figured taking a trip to Scotland in an attempt to avoid a loss of sanity counted as an emergency. And now, here she was, in the back seat of a taxi, driving down a dirt road in Middle-of-Nowhere, Scotland. The taxi driver kept flicking his eyes to the rear-view mirror, obviously uneasy. The cab pulled up to an ancient-looking castle and the cabbie spoke quickly, his voice shaking. “D-don’t worry about the fare, just please get out.” With a sad face, Maya stepped out of the cab and the driver spun away like a bat out of hell. Her dark purple hair was swept into a low side ponytail, but the wind still caught in its loose curls. Looking up at the castle, Maya didn’t realize until just now that she was –

“Scared? You should be.” The all-too-familiar voice sent shivers down her spine.
@KatherinWinter, where is this castle? Are all of our characters allowed to be from different parts of the world? I'm thinking Nevada for Maya.
