If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

Slightly smaller, at the moment I'm working off of an upsized Visby Class.

It should be large enough to travel long distance. That was why I suggested the Corvette.

I wish I knew, Wernher. Last clue she left was dealing with tensions with Russia and China.

I'll go with my backup plan, a hydrofoil missile boat.

If you are looking for a small boat, I would recommend something along the lines of this Corvette.

Since nothing has kicked off and i never got a reply to my previous post, do you feel stepping in and giving me the go ahead for a character/ship sheet?

I'm going to have to defer that decision to Queen Raidne. She has been pretty liberal with the types of ships she allows in here. I would say the Q-ship concept is obsolete today given Aegis Combat System, stealth aircraft and the ranges of Air and surface radars. On another note, that idea would be brilliant given a 1940s or 50s setting.

I'd also post an introduction, but the thing is I don't know what our GM had as plot idea.
The one thing she told me she intended to do was to not have an admiral or TF/JDF-1 commander. Since the only condition that would precipitate such an event is the death of the previous commander, Admiral Dumas is dead and now Captain Krol is speculating over who will take command of JDF-1. You don't have to agree with him. You all can make your own speculation since Admiral Dumas never mentioned a succession of command.
Undisclosed Location in the Pacific Ocean

The US Naval Task Force or Joint Defense Force (JDF-1) is centered on the flagship, USS John F. Kennedy (JFK) with the USS Tripoli, USS America and USS Unknown Soldier (LHAs and Intell collection platform) within three kilometers of the flagship forming a diamond. The USS Wyvern (LCS) is positioned 3 - 5 KM to the rear of the USS Unknown Soldier covering JDF-1's six o'clock position. The USS Leviathan is the lead element posted 20 - 25 Km in front of the flagship. The USS Navassa Island, USS Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ), USS Hermes, HMCS Gander and USS Fenrir are picket ships posted five kilometer from the flagship between the 9 o'clock through the 12 o'clock to the 3 o'clock position forming an umbrella of protection against Air, surface and submersed threats.

Aboard the USS America
Captain Krol sat in his state room going over fitness reports of the officers aboard his amphibious assault ship. A Petty Officer knocked at the door. "Enter!" The Captain commanded.

"Sir, Message from the Kennedy," the sailor announced handing a slip of paper to his ship's captain, then coming to the position of attention.

The Captain focused on the slip of paper as it took it from the sailor, "at ease, sailor." The sailor then slid his left foot to the left and allowed his hands to gather behind his back. The Captain read the note, All JDF one units, receive notification, Admiral Percy Dumas expired this morning due to cardiac arrest. Initiate succession of command per SOP. Captain Krol was taken aback by the brevity of the message. He looked at the sailor, "Was this message confirmed?"

"Sir, yes sir!"

"You're dismissed sailor," the captain quipped. The sailor silently executed an about face and left the Captain's state room to return to his duties. Captain Krol considered the other officers in the Task Force, 'Cole Marshall? Too young. Tiffany Larkin? again, too inexperienced. Frank MacGregor? qualified, but a bit of an odd duck. You know how those submariners are. Rich Sinclair? John Phillips? Other than myself, the only other options to take over as Task Force Commander. Each of the other smaller ships in the Task Force are captained by Commanders or Lieutenant Commanders. The commander never mentioned who would be the next CO if the admiral bought the farm.

Aboard the USS LBJ
"Captain, Albatross five has cleared the hangar deck and is commencing ASW drills ten kilometers off our port bow, heading south," Commander Grimes informed the skipper. The commander of US Naval vessels can often times be referred to as Captain or Skipper even if they are not of the rank Captain. It is a long standing tradition aboard US naval ships to refer to the ship commander as Captain. In this case, Hank Matthews is a Commander, which is equivalent to a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marines or Army. That is the rank authorized to command a Cruiser or Destroyer. The smaller Frigates and Corvettes would have a Lieutenant Commander in command and the smaller missile boats would be captained by a full Lieutenant. The Lieutenant Commander is the equivalent to a Major in the Army and the Lieutenant is equivalent to an Army Captain.

"Roger that, Mister Grimes," The Captain responded as he sipped his coffee. "Any air contacts in the area?"

"No sir, only friendly. The JFK has a flight of four Lightnings up top for air cover, a few other rotary aircraft," the XO told his commander. Helicopters are referred to as rotary or rotary wing aircraft while others are called fixed wing aircraft. The F-35 Lightnings would provide an Air Control Mission (AC) in order to be able to respond to immediate air threat if one should present itself, than leaving the aircraft on deck ready to take off.

The Task Force blundered into destiny.
If we don't hear from Queen Raidne, I'll post an introduction later today.
It is only dead if you allow it to die, Jannah. :) I posted and Dutchbag has been waiting for the rest.
The advantage of nuclear power is, cheap energy that lasts for extended period of times. It is not necessarily designed for speed or any other benefit. Aircraft rely on speed and low weight in order to perform effectively. Placing a nuclear reactor in an aircraft undermines its potential. Sure the thing can fly for 30 days without stopping to refuel, but who wants that? Who needs that? The components that make up a nuclear reactor small enough to fit into an airframe would be very heavy. I wonder if it could get up off the ground? Sure, this is fantasy, science fiction, but a line should be drawn somewhere. Reading that only makes me groan.
When I said, "Unit Icon", I knew exactly what he was talking about. I spent 21 years in combat boots and have been reading military history for 40 years. I have never heard what they call those things. "Unit Icon", which obviously is used today in video games, still appears applicable to a map tracking system used 70 years ago. Or maybe "Unit Symbols"?
