And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

Should have been writing posts. Took part in D&D shenaniganry instead. Got to fix that tomorrow.

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

A target with total cover can't be targeted directly by an attack or a spell, although some spells can reach suc a target by including it in an area of effect. A target has total cover if it is completely concealed by an obstacle.

- PHB p.196

Thus, to hit an arcing shot they would have to determine targeting "randomly" by choosing a five foot square behind hte wall to aim at, which would be an attack against the space, not the person. If the person happened to be in said space, sure the attack would hit (and crit with that 20). In this case, making a direct attack like that is not a viable, nor possible course of action.
Whatever the dice would roll, the character couldn't be seen from your current position. It is physically impossible.
Well, it may have been a crit but I'll have to object. Your intended target is in total cover behind a wall, not to be seen. They came out, they shot, they went back. You cannot shoot at something you cannot see. Would you rather wait for an enemy to arrive into your vision @VKAllen?
One more day for @VKAllen before the 4 days is up.
While the kobold had brandished it's dagger, it met the fate usual to the scout: They were the one to die so the rest of their group would know what to expect. It had barely registered the words of the halfling with no time to consider their meaning before the cold steel of the heavy blade already smashed against them, a blow powerful enough to render them unconscious just before finishing the job.

Just as this was happening, a hooded figure of a humanoid stepped out from the shadows, an arrow nocked in their shortbow and the weapon aimed towards the brewing fight. They seemed to hesitate for a moment, first aiming at the big guy, then at the small exposed one, and then at the pile of muscle again. The voice they had heard after the reptilians final shout had certainly not come from that massive warrior, it couldn't have. Finalising the aiming, they let the arrow loose at the greatsword wielding man and jumped back behind the corner without paying it any more mind.

It's a shame they didn't see their end result though as the shot, while deviating slightly more upward than intended, struck the target in the throat, sticking at the spot of impact. Luckily for Ashkar, the shot did not pierce his neck, but it certainly must have hit something that should not get hit... throat was full of that kind of things.

Yeah, I'm sorry @Ryonara, but the combat works as it works. For her talking to have an effect, it would be needed to wait until the Kobold's turn in initiative order. Now then, it happens to be my turn! Just a moment...

EDIT: And now it would be Trear's turn to take the stage. To recap, no enemies are currently visible. Go forth, @VKAllen!
There seems to be some kind of an error in the colour tags when it comes to the request of asking to pass. Anyway, consider it approved for Ashkar to act next. @The Harbinger of Ferocity, your turn!
It's approximately four metres high, and climbing it would be somewhat difficult without any help. Using the harpoon as a makeshift handle could grant the ability to attempt to scale it without disadvantage.
I'll place the enemies into the initiative tracker more accurately once it is actually discovered when they move. This means it would be best not to post back to back until that, but I usually visit the site quite frequently so it shouldn't be much of a slowdown in any case.
As the party was adjusting to this new encounter, the kobold used the time to peek around the corner before continuing to shout behind them in draconic: "Vur astahii seem ekess ti qe shafaer hesi symba!" Whatever those words meant, it caused a voice to respond, sounding like another kobold as well. The house in the way muffled the response enough so nobody could make any sense of it, but the nearest kobold drew a dagger from their belt. This wouldn't end peacefully...
