Bio

A writer, artist, animator, worldbuilder. In short, jack of all trades, master of some.

For the most part, I've retired from roleplaying. For quite a long time, what kept me tied to RPG was the Spam community—but even that I have distanced myself from. Now, my focus is on the writing contests.

I consistently try to write reviews for RPGC, and I consistently enter the Twelve Labours.

First labour; world of Archipelago, Jack.
Challenge: an unwelcome death.
For next entry: characterization.

Second labour; world of Uberpowered, Émile.
Challenge: an unfortunate fortune.
For next entry: pacing.

Third labour; world of Cinderlore, Caerys.
Challenge: an unforgiving ambition.
For next entry: proofreading.

Fourth labour; world of Supers, Joshua.
Challenge: an uncompromising betrayal.
For next entry: development.

Fifth labour; world of Mutamorphis, Olrich.
Challenge: an unrepressed motive.
For next entry: development, dammit.

Sixth labour; world of Mythos, Melas.
Challenge: an untenable alliance.
For next entry: dénouement.

Seventh labour; world of Hatemongers, Talahn.
Challenge: an unbearable sacrifice.
For next entry: cast utilization.

Eigth labour; world of Mythica, Céline.
Challenge: an unwinnable challenge.
For next entry: plot cohesion.

Ninth labour; world of Nardja, Albiorn.
Challenge: an unknowing accomplice.
For next entry: narrative set-up.

Tenth labour; world of Magestones, Ariana.
Challenge: an unwilling inspiration.
For next entry: narrative set-up, dammit.

@Holmishire, @Bright_Ops, approximately 12 hours remain for you to post.

I am aware, worry not.

You gave me 48 hours, and I do plan on using every single one! not really
oops

So I had been hoping more characters would pop up sooner, so that I could get a better feel for the group before making my own. (I like to fill.) But I reckon everyone's waiting on everyone, so might as well get to work.

We've got a modern military mankiller and an olden-times knight, so I was wondering: do we want to use those two as limits this round, or are we gonna go out of bounds and include sci-fi and magic too? The latter may be implied by Warhammer anyways, but I think the character matters more than the source material.

So folks, uh..... a couple people in this merry band *cough* *cough* have a few lives to spare. I don't think I'd be doing my part if I didn't assume some extra risk.... Would anyone be greatly offended if I were to tactically create a character which might (maybe? IDUNNO!!) alter the confluence of realities in a somewhat-favorable manner? Seeing as I've got lives to burn. The risk is I inadvertently make it MORE dangerous for you, instead of LESS. I leave the decision to the merry band.

I feel like it'd be a good idea to tread carefully for the first round at the least—we're a bit jumbled about. Maybe when we're more coordinated we can take more risks.

(also because two characters have already been posted, I feel it only fair to them to try and match their power levels, ish)

At the end of the day, though, I ain't holding you back.
Wise Dragon Girl and Holmeshire both, though, very impressive. O.o You two playing?

Almost certainly!

I may end up giving lives away later, but only to those who have proven themselves both dedicated and in need. Everyone's got at least one life to live off for now, so I see no reason to be hasty with such things.
It is a shame you are apparently retired from roleplaying, since I imagine writing with you would be something of a pleasure

I should have known this day would come.
hi

I @vote for Of Oaths and War. The lore was well-developed, I've never watched/ASoIaF so whatevs to the supposed similarities, and I loved all three leads. Their dynamics in both personality and skill complemented one another greatly, and were portrayed well in the context of the plot, in my not-so-humble opinion.

My only gripe is the suddenness of the attack that ended Gael's life—it was well-placed story-wise, but some hint at the presence of dangerous wolfs might have greatly bolstered the suspense.

So basically, great work, loved it to bits, good luck with this last-minute vote.
I very much liked both entries, but even considering the author in question—Un-American Activities was a real tour de force. As such, it gets my @vote.

Critiques at this point are mostly for the sake of formalities. Both entrant are above the level my aid is most useful.

>A+

I wish there were more votes to go off of—it seems a bit unfair that my vote alone should determine the winner. But alas, such is the flow of seasons, not all as productive as the last. With only two entries to choose from, I am glad both were of high quality.
Wait, the deadline's today.

terrible as it may sound, i'm glad there's only two entries
(I may have spent the last week reviewing another contest with twenty-five entries. Glad to be back home, cuz that was hell.)

I expect to have my usual fare up in time tonight—hopefully others will show up soon!
i was struggling so hard to meet the structural requirements, that i didn't even realize there was a theme until the entries were posted this morning

oops
@Vocab, you are correct in that it is by PM.
