The sun is shining, the birds are singing, there's a few white fluffy clouds in the sky. I am closing the curtains and going back to bed.

Bio

I live somewhere in the wilds of East London with a couple of friends, a pet rat and a collection of RPG books that is slowly consuming our house. I've suggested possibly getting rid of some of them, but it's pretty much got to the point where the books are the only thing keeping the building upright and if I move any of them the whole thing could come crashing down.

In terms of games - well, I'll consider anything, except that. As can probably be gathered from my posts, I find myself generally playing characters that let me bit a little bit light-hearted. I am reasonably certain that I can play serious characters, but I know that getting to post things which makes me chuckle as I write them keeps me far more engaged.

At the moment, I am currently running a game called Interplanetary Space Friends. It's a game about friends, in space, travelling between planets. It is not exactly a very serious game, and while I've scared off some of my players, I have a dedicated handful left who have stuck with the game. These folks are awesome, and if anyone says anything mean about them, I will defend their honour with a strongly worded message.

Name: Respectfully Embracing The Warmth Of The Stars And Dwelling On The Importance Of Journeys, usually shortened to "Res".

Race: Larval stage of Nova Lepid. The presence of some sort of parasite, illness, or infection has prevented Res from undergoing chrysalis and reaching adulthood.

Age: 28 USY. This is considered to be an abnormally long time for a Nova Lepid to live.

Gender: Refers to himself as male; identifying the gender of a larval stage Nova Lepid involves guesswork and dissection.

Appearance: A fifteen foot long, giant caterpillar. Res is mostly green, with the occasional red and white spot scattered about his body. Rows of stumpy little legs help propel him forward, and also serve as rudimentary arms. His face isn't capable of a huge amount of expression, though waving his mandibles about and wiggling his antennae does a passable job of conveying emotion. Two huge, black, multi-faceted eyes stare out at the world. Overall, cute, but kind of terrifying.

Homeworld: Muxundi, a planet under observation by the Agrarian Conclave. Life is abundant on this lush planet, and the Agrarian Conclave send down the occasional team of botanists, xenozoologists and other scientists to gather samples that may be developed into new crops, farm animals, or are otherwise of scientific interest. Actual attempts to create a catalogue of the myriad species on Muxundi often fail, as species of flora and fauna die off and are replaced by others alarmingly quickly.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral. Muxundi's frantic cycle of life and death provides constant change.

Role: Ship's Cook

Skills:
Alarmingly Resilient! Between the natural toughness exhibited by larval Nova Lepidae and whatever parasite that has infected Res, he seems to have an ability to shrug off most illnesses, stomach most poisons with no ill-effect and generally be rather difficult to seriously injure due to his seemingly constant, albeit slow, growth.

Alarming Spitting Action! Sprays digestive enzymes on things as a defense mechanism. Of relatively little use against hardened things, or non-biological things, but against fleshy things that don't like being slowly digested, it's a pretty effective way of discouraging them from picking a fight.

History:
Initially captured and removed from his world by scientists working alongside the Agrarian Conclave, owing to his extended larval stage, his life amongst the stars began as little more than a scientific curiousity. Faced with the possibility of spreading the parasite amongst the Nova Lepid population, the researchers agreed to keep Res separated from the rest of his species, and organised shipping him to another planet. The transport, relying upon the idea that nobody would really consider attacking an Agrarian Conclave vessel, was attacked, boarded and captured by the not-particularly-notorious Captain Chuck. As per his customs, Chuck offered the crew of the vessel two options; join him or take the short walk into the air-lock.

So Res became a pirate, starting off as an assistant to a belligerent cook who had learned that you could just about stuff anything into a sausage and people would eat it with relatively few questions. When Captain Chuck's poor decision making skills finally caught up with him, and the rest of his crew, Res washed up at one of the more disreputable voidstations - the Tumbling Jenny - and began to offer his services to anyone looking for a Ship's Cook. For reasons that might never be clear, the Captain of the Nova Dawn offered him a role, and Res has never really thought to ask what happened to the old cook.

Personality: Constantly upbeat and cheerful, almost to the point of being considered naive. Having developed a deep and abiding love of the void-faring pirate lifestyle (as opposed to the 'scientific curiousity lifestyle'), Res is (over-) protective of his fellow pirate crew, seeing them as one big, happy family that needs feeding and generally looking after.

Will have a CS up as quick as I can!
You could be extra badass and have the parasite protect its host with some sort of combatant abilities.

I was thinking that it might generally be good for making the Cook rather tough, rather than particularly "fighty"; the Cook's fighting style should probably be a sort of vaguely aggressive flopping on people in the hope of crushing them.

But... robots don't have stomachs...

It's quite alright, if there's a mouth part that you can shove things into, that's close enough, right?
I meant to mention this before, but the parasite I brought up actually controls the insect's behavior via its nervous system, before eventually releasing its spores by exploding out of its head, killing it. Here's the wiki.

Yikes.

I think I prefer the extended neoteny that puts off metamorphosis and causes constant growth sort of parasite for the Ship's Cook, rather than the fungal parasite that explodes out the heads of poor caterpillars.
I am aiming to put up something tomorrow, i have plenty to go of i have just been a little busy.

No worries, busyness strikes us all, although I have been trying ever so hard today to do anything but the things I'm supposed to be busy with.
Sorry to push things back a little, and to triple-post, but I'm holding off a little on a GM post at the moment - there's the Above Ground stuff that hasn't been responded to, and I don't want to race ahead on the underground front, but try to keep them vaguely in parity for reasons that might come up, and for my own sake of mind.

With that being said, and pursuant to the idea that I should be making sure there's enough stuff to bounce off of - is there enough to react to in the last above ground GM post? If you want me to move things forward a bit there, let me know, and I'll do so! Most likely on Monday.
So...anybody wanna tell me about the character theyre thinking about? I'm curious :)

OH MY GOD LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY CHARACTER

Ahem. Ship's cook! Giant Caterpillar-ish Thing! Lives on a diet of paper and cardboard! Best friend to all! Adorable and terrifying! Not a particularly talented cook, but makes up for it with enthusiasm! Might be infested with some kind of parasite!
@Dynamo Frokane Can't get the doo-doo-do-do-do's out of my head. I've not played the game, which probably makes reviewing it difficult, but it was a weird sort doo-doo-do-do-do of good. I'd give it seven out of ten; not necessarily cup of tea in terms of video game doo-doo-do-do-do music, but it's still nice.

Seeing as somebody's already got "Still Alive", have the best piece of music from Portal 2. I know it's almost certainly not the done thing to provide commentary for your own choice, but this song is so wonderfully jittery, I can't express my love for it enough.
Made it home in one piece, will be aiming to do GM posting tomorrow afternoon (in about eighteen hours time).

I hope that you've all got a fun-filled weekend to look forward to!
