I still think the current system favors quantity of fights too much. I think the gains should be diminished the higher in points you go or the higher rank you are.
Losing points for losing vs lower ranked opponents is a bad idea, it's a de-incentive for higher ranked people accepting lower ranks challenges.

I'll reiterate that not taking your own points into account in the reward system is a bad idea though.

They don't have an incentive to do so now.

As it stands, point inflation will not encourage newcomers to participate in Arena battles say a year from now when someone could have like 4000 points.
I think that if the person is higher ranked and they lose, they should lose some points as well.
Yes, while I do have the authority to choose what gets allowed, by opting for a transparent system claims of bias are much less valid. If I kept them solely through PM until the tournament release, then I could be accused of favoritism by allowing someone to keep X ability, while forcing someone to adjust Y. Transparent systems preserve the integrity of the tournament and I am not immune to making mistakes. This allows for others to address concerns with characters I may have overlooked.

If the by-product is also a more competitive tournament due to people being able to submit characters that they feel might operate better against the current field, then I am fine with that. I do not think someone will be able to come in and craft an new, effective character in 7 days that has advantages against every other character and be successful with it (since it likely won't get any testing). The matchups for the first rounds will be decided randomly via a public dice system, so it is even more difficult to try to make an effective countercharacter given the likely number of participants.
@MelonHeadI did consider doing a PM system for the bios. However, because of transparency issues, I opted not to do such a thing. For the next tournament if you opt to host, you may choose to go that route.
@Skallagrim

I hope that it generally won't take me more than a day to review characters.
@Dynamo Frokane

I'll release the map on May 7th (this is in the OP). As for why, I do not want people designing characters that would be able to specifically use some aspect of the map. Thus, it will stay hidden.
General - I'm going to limit the upper end of projectile speed for weapons.

@Skallagrim Can you limit the upper range of your ectoplasm's stream to something like 50 yards?
@Rilla

There is no planned lobby.
@Nightangel

Correct.
