This looks very interesting. I've begun work on a Loyalist faction and placed the WIP in the Character tab.

I think we will be great friends.

Also, decided to make an attempt on the holdings section. @Flagg On the systems limit, do you mean 1-5 major star systems or 1-5 star systems period?
I'll go with slipstream drives since a inter dimensional warp drive involving a warp-like dimension would be too much and perhaps too derivative of 40K.
History wise the Consortium comes into play way later, so I can't really give much input for early imperial history beyond what events occurred back in the 25th century (of the Imperial Era). I suppose the question on if the Consortium centuries earlier encountered the horde leaves some room. I think however, that the Horde not being in close contact with the Consortium may be a more interesting route.

What is important to me is what the horde's activity in the past four hundred years is like since if their incursions into the Empire were recent, it gives weight to my claim that the Empire focused on other threats beyond the Consortium despite the Consortium's notoriety for their abhorrence. A massive xeno horde is just much more scary that those freaks near the border on the spinward front who are for all intents and purposes "contained".

I think for the sake of explaining the widely different themes and technologies, we should say the empire was big enough that technology differed from system to system, becoming less standardized the farther you got from the center of the empire. The same goes for other things that may differ among players with ties to the empire.

All I really want is Flagg to give standards for FTL systems. Spaceship technology I suspect would benefit from Flagg giving a reference design of a "standard" imperial fleet ship to modify for players who have ships based on Aucturian designs.
It may be a good idea to establish the tech standard of the Aucturian Empire since multiple factions are using Aucturian tech.

Especially with FTL systems.
@Raptorman
It's not.

It's because the Consortium's Composers aren't really as all-knowing as they think even with their bio-mechanical doppelganger spies and make bad assumptions about other societies. The horde is comparatively distant, so not too much is actually known on how the horde works. They just assume it to be like the Empire but much more savage without even being aware that their leaders come from taking the position through bloodshed and not heredity. Even if they learn how the horde actually works, they'd still propagate the blatant lie that the horde is nepotistic to make them look no better than the Empire. The Composers tend to hold actual power despite the Auditor being autocrat since the Composers dispose of Auditors who they find ill suited for the role. (Read: Call them out on their bullshit or try to weaken their position in the Consortium)
I am finally able to share so many things pent up in my world for all too long.

It is beautiful.

I have dozens of alien species and a galaxy to build. Building a galaxy means having to populate 200-700 million worlds. So it may take some time. Think of all the civilizations and cultures contained in that many planets.

Shame it's overwhelming all at the same time. Good thing I have other RPers to latch to and work with on making galaxies with a new RP out with people who have interesting things to bring to the table.

So much fun is going to come.
The Ccrypcp/Kyrpsp

Alien species of considerable advancement, the Kyrpsp are among the stranger aliens encountered by man, a composite of multiple species who together make a self-aware, intelligent life form. A large parasitic hexapodal creature rides atop of a quadropod with a large, large hump. There is that tubular creatures that can wrap themselves around the main body, acting as arms and legs for the Kyrpsyp.

They are a species whose synthetic technologies derived from their overarching notice of composite forms, of which had lead to a vast array of strange, alien technologies that the Kyrpsyp have perfected over their seemingly ancient existence. They are much more advanced than us, but they are far from unstoppable.

Their societies are distant, but they have colonial activity that is uncomfortably close to us, with visits from members of this strange kind being frequent. They are not as social as people are, tending towards small groups who lord over a array of synthetic entities wherever they go, often reconfiguring their designs and regularly experimenting with new forms.

Exploration to their distant society has revealed them to be very advanced structurally, almost achieving parity wih the aveterriat- however their society is plagued by WMDs that they have taken endless efforts to contain. They are always monitoring the far reaches of space to make sure their disaster hasn't spread to other parts of the galaxy... And they are relentless whenever a outbreak is discovered, they initially make attempts to alert a world where the runaway WMD has gone to, cooperation being difficult as the risk of the WMD spreading to other worlds only increases with those who leave, a fact of which has led to multiple annihilation incidents should conventional extermination strike teams fail to contain the threat. This WMD system is a sprawling bone complex that is cancer-like, slowly killing the world by spreading chlorine all over it, making the world uninhabitable over time. When deliberately seeded, a thirty of them can wipe out a world in but a month. The long delay of this WMD makes them a great force of leverage, but they are unpredictable as a seed can sometimes be spread to other parts of the galaxy, which happened in the five centuries war. They are very clever weapons, being really a engineered super organism that digs itself into the ground and spreads by feeding off the sun and by using geothermal heat to grow while devouring native life for nutritional supplements.

They are also active in other ways, they are fervent traders who have on multiple occasions forced a inhabited world into becoming a free trade world.

The Kyrpsyp have activity across a wide range of space, they lack any real political unity. Only a long procession of mutual agreements (the purification agreement being the most well known)- they are a species that have suffered a devastating war that led to the spread of a WMD that after four centuries of war has only been scattered in the past five centuries of history. Societies of their kind have come to power and have been comparatively outward looking despite the classical era where they maintained a powerful society for nearly a millennium before it simply rotted away into the devastations. It should be noted that when they were a space faring society, humans were just running around stabbing each other with swords.

Make of that knowledge, what you will.

The Kyspsyp have a tendency to toy around, at the expense of other species. Not too unlike the Rovii, but unlike the chaotic psyops the Rovii emply, the Kysrysp are far more calculating which makes them all the more difficult to contend with. They have a sense of honor about them, a rarity in this galaxy, that has kept them from doing any officially sanctioned slave raids due to their system of government being very different from anything else in the galaxy. They Kyspsyp are politically diverse and have experimented with Codominance based societies that in part for the greater good of all. The Governing Web as they refer to it- a reverence for it akin to human reverence for democracy is common among the Kysrysp, who see the system as the reason for their achievements of culture, society and technology. For they have no oppressive ruling class, instead they have a web of co-dominance all abide by. This web of rulers is insanely confusing to outsiders, as it is within the web that one truly understands their place in society, with social flexibility that makes the web allow for one to pursue their dreams while still being accounted for. It is essentially a system of watch men who watch the watchmen in a massive set of interlocking circles. The society is far from equal, one should be warned. This system only appeared after the collapse of the classical order, it should be noted.

They apparently have associated with the Aveterriat in the past.

The rovii come from them, a former client species who got out of control who now go about in nomadic fleets after they tried to force the rovii back into submission.

There's three other "client" species who they exist with, with a tolerance of their existence for they are seen as part of the gestalt: the Marata (instirncual gun toting killer aliens), the Asantum (a sulfuric alien species who are used to colonize worlds uninhabitable to any other creature) and the Appartik, of whom are "cute" to the Kyrpsyp and pretty much seen as pets. Arguably humans might seem them cute too.
Name: Aveterriat (Av-ee-tear-ee-at)
Evolution/Home System:
The Aveterriat come from a G-class star like our own, but this is where all the similarities end. There is ten planets in their star system, three rocky planets (one of which being the world the Avterriat came from), a whopping six gas giants and one large ice world who exists between the two most distant jovian planets. There is one asteroid belt, there may have been a second one earlier, as the large icy world has many trojan moons.
The world of origin for the Aveterriat is known as Ivyyus. Ivyyus is a super earth with gravity over twice that of our own world and is a far more dry a place. Water is still common, at least enough that life could develop into complex states over the past 5-6 billion years Ivyyus had existed as a planet and with the surprising multitude of biomes on Ivyuss ranging from vast underground networks of water to numerous eroding spires chiseled out over the eons along with the volcanic marshes, sprawling pans of dried up seas and isolated (but still wet) seas which acted as biomes in of themselves, multiple explosions of biodiversity ended up being a inevitability. There is no oceans on Ivyyus, only large salty seas and various volcanic marshes that dote the planet thanks to tidal stress caused by its three spherical moons, one of which being rather volcanic and causing periodic meteor showers that can be seen from the surface of Ivyyus's pale orange deserts.
Yet with just this, a astounding complex biosphere developed on this world. The lack of liquid that is free led to life that led to ecosystems where many creatures would consume clay, far more so than on earth with whole ecosystems built on clay absorbing, deep rooted flora that also consumed light from the cold, dim sun. On the whole, Ivyyus is colder than earth, but not crushingly so; many parts of the world are too dry to have frozen wastelands, but the few parts where frozen wastelands develop tend to be hotspots for life as well thanks to the aggressive interior of the world leading to ongoing volcanic activity tht has kept the world warmer than it would be if it was much smaller than earth. The southern part of the planet is disproportionately wetter than the northern parts thanks to the 35 degree axial tilt of the planet which has made seasonal changes somewhat radical, if not reduced due to the planet's thicker atmosphere and greenhouse effect.
Lithorvoric life became complex on Ivyyus, and pretty much every animal (the aveterriat being of no exception) on the world has rocks and minerals as part of their diets, even the apex predators. The mineral rich caves of Ivyyus have, as a result far more biodiversity than earth's caves with complex ecosystems that interconnect through volcanic tubes, hot salty marsh regions and densely packed mesas full of long, paste filled bulb plants of which many more kinds of flora parasitize and grow off of. Of which than the more complex creatures of the world feed off of, of whom get eaten by higher order creatures on a regular basis.
Chemotrophs, Autotrophs and Heterotrophs are also present, but all of these are to some extent lithorvoric as well (and to the point where all species have to eat certain inorganic minerals to get by, especially clay which the Aveterriat cultivate persistantly in order to maintain their vast populations). Since all the water on Ivyyus is highly salty, life on Ivyyus has a universal tolerance to salty water and do not suffer from dehydration from drinking salty water the way many earth animals would. Overall, Ivyyus would cultivate a ecosystem of highly resilient life forms that can live off rocks.
The Aveterriat species (and related sub-species) themselves are the distant descendants of a organism that may have came from one of the volcanic seas 70 million years ago which may well have been analogous to a seal in some regards. Over time they developed intelligence thanks to the evolutionary pressures being in a particularly turbulent time of volcanic activity near what amounts to a super volcano. The region in particular being Vajypp, the cauldron of wisdom. Called such due to being a volcanic marsh bountiful not only in food, but also in acute observations of the universe around them on the desolate world in which they live.
Vajypp would be where the Aveterriat domesticated multiple life forms, notably of the radially symmetrical "walking table" family of creatures who lack a discernible head and eat from their bellies. They also cultivate giant spicy amphibious wigglers, of which amazingly enough are actually edible by humans as well. The walking tables, not so much. Mind that Vajypp wasn't the only cradle of society on their world, the Platinum Canyon region would also host another independent society which is notable for their underground civilizations who domesticated underground creatures for food, including silver trees and large, segmented serpentine creatures who are best imagined as a higher order flatworm-esque creature with many limbs who make for great sources of meat. Not nearly as edible by humans, however.
A dozen others also occurred in many parts of this complex world, at points by completely different subspecies. However it is the above two whose domesticates are most well known by people as their domesticates can work shockingly well together.

Morphology and Biology:
The Aveterriat are large creatures, with a overall body plan that is reminiscent of a seal, but unlike a seal is far more adapted to moving across the land due to its traction heavy body, of which is slightly fuzzy. They are usually 9-10 feet long and five feet high (from their head to the base of their body). Aveterriats have six appendages that protrude out from the sides of their base body which overlap each other. At the ends of these appendages, they have soft claws that can pinch surprisingly hard. The bottom foot combined its multiple frontal appendages allow it to move at a considerable rate, although the Aveterriat are not a fast species. Humans easily outrun them. The Aveterriat have a head with two large, geodesic eyes of which have gem-like colorations such as obsidian, cobalt, topaz or opal and a rough hide colored pale, pinkish or crème (along with darker variations). There is a great diversity of forms the Aveterriat can take on the whole, small and large.
The aveterriat manipulate the world around them using not only their six appendages and claws, but also their mandibles which are very hand-like. The development of these mandibles and their handlike-nature is a mystery, perhaps the need to grab rocks and varnish along with digging up sand clams led to the development of such hand-like manibles. Why, no one knows.
The Aveterriat have eyes that are space diagonally away from the mandibles.
The brain of the Aveterriat is more or less a large segmented bundle of nerves of extreme complexity, making up 2-3% of the Aveterriat's whole body mass and have made their kind very ravenous to sustain their minds.
The Aveterriat has atteanae that allow them to sense sound by vibration instead of by hearing the way we do. Aveterriat antennae do "hear"; as these antennae really are just lots of tiny ear holes that are very hairy.
The Aveterriat reproduce by egg, although these eggs gestate internally and the baby is popped out from the body like a large zit. A Avaterriat that has too many children at once is likely to die. In fact, over pregnating a Aveterriat is one of the stranger execution methods that has sprouted up in some Aveterriat cultures. Aveterriat seem to have distinct genders like humans, but there is no dimorphism at all beyond scent. Aveterriat tend to gestate slowly, but can give birth to a lot of children. It takes five-seven years for a Aveterriat to gestate, but may spawn 8-13 Aveterriats. It takes an Avaterriat 20 years to reach sexual maturity.
The Aveterriat reproduce via insemenation from the mouth-mouth contact and "mandible locking". There is surprisingly little courtship with the Aveterriat; they just sometimes will lock Mandibles with each other.
A female aveterriat can be pregnant with children of multiple males due to how they get pregnant, meaning that while the Aveterriat aren't monogamous, polygamy as we see it on earth never let to any notable dimorphism in gender. The Aveterriat males and females can propagate at high rates with relatively little mating competition. This means of reproduction is why the Aveterriat are a very communal species; the idea of a single mother, single father family is just alien to their kind since the litter of a Aveterriat female may have many different fathers and a father may have many different children from many different females.
The Aveterriat has chilla that run down its back of which flare up when the Aveterriat is paranoid. Aveterriat fear is always linked to a sense of paranoia, something that explains why the Aveterriat are a very paranoid species, always watching anyone who walks on their planets with a drone or always spying on everyone else or always willing to kill a million people if it means deterring a potential invader.
The Aveterriat diet consists of many meats, various mineral salts, tubular plants, seeds and clay along with whatever doesn't poison them; the Aveterriat aren't a terribly picky species when it comes to food.

Psychology:
The Aveterriat perception of their world is very density centric, being able to Preceive different densities is a sense somewhat alien to humans, but common among life on Vajpp.
The Aveterriat mind is unique from humans in that it is far greater at remembering things, but abstraction is not as strong; the Aveterriat can make near perfect pictures and have since the start. However, making stylized art of art from the imagination is considered something in the field of experts. Humans and Rovii by contrast easily make stylizations and are far more error prone in their art. The Aveterriat tend to make sculptures from any material they can find and their whole civilization is filled with sculptures of individuals and various items of reverence and the Aveterriat have a habit of carving obsessively detailed reliefs on all their structures and vehicles, at least the ones they consider their own and not the collective's. Stylized reliefs only became more common as the Aveterriat advanced into a more sophisticated society where more individuals could try to think in a way that could allow them to abstract their memories more. The Aveterriat easily see the world in a naturalistic point of view and never had gods in their faith. However, the Avaterriat are staunch believers in reincarnation and pretty much believe they are effectively immortal as memories are inherited to children.
Memory inheritance is in the genetics of many species on their planet, especially in higher order animals. This memory inheritance is flawed; a child tends to have a very incomplete record of their parent's memories, but still they recall them and are influenced by them frequently.
The Aveterriat for all it is worth are quite deep thinkers, and extremely analytical. With such intensive analytical minds the Avaterriat would develop scientific methodologies extremely early on in their history and despite how stagnant they may seem are frequently looking deeper into their technologies to find new ways to improve on and increase the effectiveness of what they have.
The Aveterriat emotionally have a surprising mount in common with humans.
The Aveterriat get enthusiastic, frustrated, paranoid, fall into fits of lunatic rage and can be very neutral minded. Aveterriat fear is very tied to paranoia, and the Avterriat tend to strike out when scared as opposed to run because they can't really run away from threats the way a faster alien could, such as the Rovii. Fear can rapidly translate to anger and fury, than back again on a moment's notice. The Aveterriat however, tend to be most happy when carrying out work and discussing previous actions. The Aveterriat are a social species and communicate with each other quite a bit.
The Aveterriat, despite their seemingly unitary mindset do actually have a concept of entertainment. It just is not what humans consider that terribly entertaining in general since the Aveterriat like listening to long demonstrations of gem impurities found on a alien world or engaging in long, circular arguments that go on for weeks about the biology of a alien creature of interest. 3D video sequences of granite crumbling in slow motion has been claimed to be very arousing to a large minority of Aveterriat. Music with the Aveterriat tends to be in terms of vibrating floors and buzz mixes. They tend to be very methodical and have a habit of being based on mathematical patterns noticed in genome sequences, the gait of various creatures, the erosion of a rock and so on. All of which I just said constituting whole genres really.
The Aveterriat are a sapient species and do have diversity in their mind, however it is of no doubt that at some point in their history some culture defined how space faring Avaterriat society would structure themselves for millennia to come- as current Aveterriat societies live in a system of many castes almost universally chosen by a machine AI that keeps track of what needs a colony has in terms of labor surpluses and shortages, determining the entire lives of Aveterriats based on this data.
The Aveterriat indeed do have curiosity of the world around them, and over time their quest for knowledge and absolute detail would lead them to become one of the most advanced alien societies humans know of. It however, took them 17000 years to do so.
The different Avertteriat races are very similar psychologically, however they inclinate differently thanks to their habitual upbringing in separate regions of Ivyyus.

History:
Oh dear.
Let's not.
Just say that here was a split, many avterriat over the past few millenia once they became space faring spread to many separate world-states, not seeing anything beneficial in having a organized empire (Though the Vmisk inclined to disagree)
Oh look.

Name: Rovii (Roviikind)

[diagram of star system and map of homeworld[

Evolution and Home System:
The Rovii come from a F-class star system which is close to the end of its life. The Rovii come from a moon, not a planet. Their moon orbits a gas giant and is slightly smaller than Earth. The gas giant is giant, it is a super jovian. They have seven other moons accompanying their jovian moon system, one of which is habitable to Rovii as well, with a independent biosphere spread via panspermia. The other planets in their star system are terribly numerous, there is over a dozen planets in all and many of them are lifeless. Only two moons and one planet in the whole star system have life. One planet? Yes, there's one other planet with life in their star system, a freezing cold ice world in a binary system orbits far out with primitive aquatics in the mineral rich oceanic depths. These aquatic aliens are shockingly related to life orbiting around the tropical super Jupiter. I say tropical as the moon orbits around the sun in such a way that their planet is actually quite warm, and very humid. The radiation intensiveness is blocked by the strong magnetic field of Havont, but still such radiation is more intense than our world to the point where many creatures have developed a increased natural resistance to radiation.
The Colorful jungles of their home moon of Havont are deeply influenced by the intense tidal forces acting upon Havont on a daily basis. Earthquakes are frequent, mass extinctions happen every 7-12 million years and complex life only existed on their world for 478 million years. Yet the Rovii managed to develop in this alien environment, densely populated with extreme biodiversity from the deep jungles that grow and fall so rapidly, the numerous jagged plains and claustrophobic teeth that permeate so much of the landscape, such intense hostility leading to many geographic barriers with various bowl regions, crumbling mountains and rugged terrain along with sulfuric wastes permeating the planet. There is little ice on Havont, the world is warmer than Earth with a more homogenous temperature. The cloud cover of the world is heavy, but light does peer through the dense jungles and small, but highly destructive storms that develop ever so frequent.
There is no real oceans on Havont, instead there is many large landmasses and a vast aquatic network of interconnected rivers and seas that can theoretically be traversed. With land being formed from volcanic activity, the changes in terrain can be jarring and very chaotic to an outside observer.
While a smaller world than earth, Havont has biodiversity that actually exceeds that of Earth by at least one or two orders of magnitude thanks to the sheer amount of habitats and places life can get isolated in the countless nooks and crannies in the porous and unstable terrain of Havont. Such unstable world seems hostile for intelligent life, but it would seem that it has led to quite the opposite. Intelligence as a trait arose many times on havont, but only with the Rovii that any such intelligence lead to an advanced, space faring civilization. In fact rovii-level sapience may have developed once or twice independently before. Such developments by this point are in what fossil record is left to exist.
The forests come in three major colors, yellow, orange and white. There is many more colors, but it is common for there to be trees with white tree trunks and very diverse colorations. These trees aren’t too unlike trees on Earth, but are different in that they can grow to insane heights and have a habit of intertwining multiple layers of branches and vines along with hosting many sub-organisms who root themselves into the trees parasitically. Very vibrant flowers exist on Havont in thousands of varieties and many, many respective species adapted to all the different flowers on the world. Havont’s insect analogs are interestingly enough, tetrapods with only few hexapodal life forms. Many life forms on Havont are great climbers, be it in the arid peaks or the dense forests. Gliding is exstremely common a trait, of which the Rovii also have as well.
Megafauna on the world comes in many bizarre forms, such as the gliderkillers, massive beings who fly around the world, of whom nest at the top of jungles. They prey on the skin balloons who lazily float in the upper parts of the Havontian biosphere, these skin balloons being host to many other flying species who will defend their home balloon from the glider killers in exchange for a place to live. Such relationship being just one of perhaps millions on Havont.
Flying leathery winged creatures that can perceive sound and live on a diet on tons of different foods have considerably high intelligence on Havont; these “intelligent bats” (well known for having only two major similarities to bats- good hearing and being warm blooded flying animals) are related to the Rovii. The Rovii have always been aware of such, for Roviikind has multiple species of Rovii that had been isolated for hundreds of thousands of years in the complicated ecosystems of Havont.
In the undergrowth yellow hair mold tends to be common, acting as both autotrophs and decomposers of all the biological material that falls down to the jungle floor pretty much every other minute. Outside of the jungles fields of palegrass pretty much permeate the temperate north, where plain running creatures exist in wet marshes where flora and fauna have extremely. Extremely blurred lines due to the flesh groves.
The early Rovii societies didn't have agriculture, instead they were vast colonies of nests that interwove together to make "cities" centered around monumental structures who notably echo sound and reverberate all which is spoken within. Other early rovii societies never even stabilized outside of isolated nest settlements, with shepherding Rovii being common in non jungle parts of the world. Knowledge accumulated and revised at stunning rates, some forms of agriculture managed to develop, although in a way very different from the way we think of agriculture; they used far more vertical space for their crops rooted themselves not in soil, but in the trees. Overall, with vertical farming methods in a agricultural society, population explosions were perhaps a inevitability.
Interestingly enough, the Rovii avoided mass deforestation except when they didn't; even than, the society that came after usually did a good job of replanting the bamboo-fast growing trees. Deforestation simply not being a good way to live when most of your crops depend on such deep rooted jungle trees.
The Rovii in the jungles became advanced and would manage to domesticate a wide range of creatures, mostly as pets that also acted as food animals; eating your pet isn't such a big deal to the Rovii since as far as they can care, it's your pet.
The Rovii had serious difficulties using beasts of burden, but their fast speed made it so that they never needed any chariots just to move around a city like the Aveterriat or Calzonit.

Rovii (Amplexus) Physiology and Biology:
There is five distinct Rovii species over a dozen rovii subspecies, all of which cosnitute "Roviikind". The complicated history of the Rovii has been shaped by the relations these species have had. However, there is a several physiological aspects that are universal to them that shall be discussed here. capable of gliding and are large, make use of "weak" echolocation and have amazing amounts of sensory overload.
Their eyesight is around the level of a humans (abeilt with much more FoV than humans have and their vision being able to focus in two areas at once), they can sense the world around them ever further simply by speaking and are more sensitive to touch and the cold than humans. Their perception of color is not as good as ours, being far more stimulated by the wider range of sounds they can here. Rovii are relatively more fragile than humans in general, although the larger subspecies are slightly more resiliant than people simply due to their thicker hides. Their heads are very oblong and connect down to a long neck to their bodies that are built not too unlike a flightless bird.
The Rovii have a large flaps that can be used for gliding to a small, but very limited level. Think more a falling cat than a bird. This has made the rovii more specialized to the lower levels of jungles their running ability would feature more in the Rovii species who exist in the northern grass deserts. Smaller Rovii species would find their niches from sheer geographic isolation in different parts of the planet for nearly a million years.
The main differences between the Roviikinds are in their overall structure and some difference in behavioral ritual. Male rovii in the [Alpha] kind are much more capable than in the other kinds (though matriarchal social systems still occurred, however different they are) while in the [Gamma] kind, the rovii are just bigger on the whole and more claustrophobic. The [Delta] kind are what Rovii generally are thought of as they're the most widespread species of Rovii. Not as intelligent and seem to have more of a pack mentality, although this may just be cultural. The [Epsilion] kind however, are much stranger behaviorally being less prone to communication and having a very different diet along with different coat colors. But it is the [Rho] kind who are notable for being smaller than other kinds of Rovii. All these species exhibit a significant range of variation due to self-domestication and sexual selection having far more factors than lesser creatures. More species of Rovii used to exist, but they are all dead due to various unfortunate events that occurred in their existence.
The Roviikind are omnivores and pack hunters, eating a wide, wide range of food thanks to how many different kinds of food the Rovii have access to. It is mind boggling, to imagine how many different foods the Rovii have access to. They essentially have no genes that generate vitamins, relying solely on food they eat. This has been a major problem as the Rovii became more technologically avanced for food rations required more calories than with humans and diets got convoluted fast due to the sheer amount of options they have. Listing them would be literally writing tons of gibberish words.
The Rovii reproduce with eggs that are fertilized externally. Said eggs when they develop will stick to areas they were fertilized. These eggs tend to be surprisingly dull, being round and pale in color. Any ornamentation (such as painting) is a product of a rovii painting the egg of its own spawn or another rovii's.

Psychology:
The psychology of the Rovii is not all that different from that of humans. Like us they engage in many rituals, use symbolic language and organize themselves into complex family units and have numerous cultural organizations, in no small part due to the vastly different ecosystems and multiple species of rovii there are. They get happy, sad, angry, can suffer from even similar mental states such as depression and hysteria (the latter of which being defined in rovii terms as being incomprehensible in every way possible, but simply acting out). Except in the many ways it is not.
The Rovii do not fear death, they fear silence. This psychological quirk has had serious implications for how Rovii view the world around them and has shaped much of their outlook on reality in ways that make them morally alien in countless ways in spite of what similarities they show at times to humans in terms of their persistence and rapid pace of change that has defined the existence of the rovii since they became a self-aware set of species. For instance, the Rovii fear dying of rot far more than they do dying from being gibbed to smithereens or burned to death. They would rather be stabbed into pieces or forcibly drowned than be left in a cold dark room until they die from starvation. This pathological fear of silence isn't universal, but it is so common that it has affected the moral basis of rovii society for millennia, in all the ritual warfare and corruption that has came with it.
The Rovii are very inclined to anti-determinist thinking and long term, orderly hierarchies tend not to last ever with the Rovii; slave revolts happen all too often despite the disturbingly creative torture methods their oppressors use against their debt slaves. Race-based caste systems or slavery based on species or race are absent, for the rovii tend to discriminate over what others think and on sex (male rovii are pretty much regulated to home worlds or "safe zones" and are pretty much seen as half-sentient despite obvious showings of intelligence (all so much rationalized as just collective hallucination or just imaginary company)) than on race. They do not really have a concept of friends, instead have a concept of "company"- basically anything that can listen to a Rovii or otherwise converse. The Rovii tend to be content interacting with any other sapient species, no matter how alien. They do make some level of bonding with those they talk to more, but this to them is less a "friend" and simply "common company"- common company they tend to incline to more and they generally will be more loyal to those who interact with them the most. Attention, positive or negative seems to attract them.
Despite their seemingly collective behavior and living, the Rovii are individualistic to a strong degree having a strong self-identity and generally have individual interests. The reason they maintain colonies being more because they prefer it over living alone. They fear that. Working towards a common goal is a known idea to the Rovii, but the rovii are far more influenced by things such as poetry, music and dance than by written texts, of which even the scientific texts tend to be mythologized. Rational Rovii exist just enough that some sense of naturalism exists among their kind, indeed later Rovii societies as things on their world became more desperate would lead to the rovii becoming far less naturlaistic and incredibly materialist in their worldview. The Rovii would than proceed their cycle of birth, ascension, collapse and chaos. A cycle of which that keeps producing more advanced societies than the last.
As to how the Rovii advanced to a space age society on a subterranean world without dying out as a society, the answer lies in the fact they had a nearby world like their own easily colonized and in the potency of their F-class star, of which gave them the exotic matter to travel to other stars once they achieved space faring capability. By the time they had spaceships, it should be noted, the Rovii had the composers keeping their societies stable as they can; as the Composers took over Havont after the first collapse. However, the Composers being of Rovii construction tragically were prone to their self-destructiveness sin the long term and four more collapses would ensue before the rise of the Metasyndicate.

Domesticates:
Floating Snakes-
Floating snakes are one of the common families of fauna on Havont, being basically large, pluffy gliding creatures that really aren’t anything like a snake at all. Their whole predation methodology is totally different. They just are called that due to a unimaginative name scheme. A several breeds of floating snake have found their way pretty much everywhere, in no small part due to large amount of Rovii that keep floating snakes as pets. They even spread to human worlds on many occasions.
Wxps, do you plan to explain the appearance of your xenos more?

Anyhow as far as Consortium relations go it will be fun to try to gain influence around ASTA's faction and fail miserably.

@ASTA
Interesting mechs you have.

Shame it is that your kind are incestuous freaks.

@The Captain
So, your emperor is the one and only true manifestation of the cosmic sovereign, THE TRUE emperor of emperors unquestionable and without limit to power or will?

We shall watch closely and see if it is so.

Very closely.

(they may not have this sentiment unless your pretender proves successful enough)

@Senor Herp
We may have mutual interests.

@Raptorman
More nepotism? No wonder you've been around so long and can't even figure out how to make a decent biomech. No progress, with mindsets like these.

Here, have some alien immigrants:

The Vargyn are steam breathing cylindrical alien beings who are like extremely sophisticated, higher order flat worms. Their radial mouth is obscured by many tendrils. The Vargyn don't have any actual orientation, often being able to be vertical, horizontal or curved as needed. The Vargyn come from a low gravity, highly volcanic world with a incredibly dense atmosphere where water tends to be scalding hot (their home world is literally translated to "The Steams of Life"). They seem to be adapted to the mountainous needle forests. The specialized segments of a Vargyn can become more Vargyn given enough food and time, but intelligence requires a larger Vargyn . The Vargyn have trilateral symmetry down their cylindrical body, with their limbs taking different tasks depending on how much food they can attain. Arms with hands can only exist with well fed Vargyn. Less well fed Vargyn use their limbs as legs only and starving Vargyn are reduced to slithering about like snakes, shedding away their limbs to do so. The Vargin come from a lower gravity world and the classes of Vargyn adapted to space have since become dominant among their kind, but the "other" classes of Vargyn still are around. Vargyn can get huge and have dozens of limb sets in space, to the point where some Vargyn cultures will make protective suits to engage into direct combat with other spaceships.

The Vargyn are reliant on detecting movement to catch prey, sensing vibrations and changes in air pressure along with sound. They have very poor eye sight, being color blind and are unable to resolve detail well. While their architecture is drab, the arrangement of their architecture is very suited towards their kind and generally is built to make echolocation a easy task. They tingle about, very sensitive to changes in humidity due to needing to be in humid environments to breathe properly. It's hard for them to breathe in dry mediums because they breathe mist and steam. They tend to have steamy armor systems as a result often only interact with humans outside their suits in a sauna.

The Vargyn have a wide range of pressure tolerance with forms that can adapt to many kinds of worlds- in some worlds they can even "glide" about the place.

The Vargyn don't really have any real "civilization" (or "state"), instead they associate with multiple other species and work within the systems of other civilizations. Vargyn do have cultures, but these Vargyn cultures often are mixed with the traditions and norms of whatever civilizations the Vargyn is part of.

(Here's an addition to the xeno library, no factions attached)
