Shiranui nodded and saw the next floor had a few Rockets along with warp tiles. "Liam, our old friends are back," he stated.
"I'm with you, Liam," Shiranui agreed, "Be prepared for anything!"
"I agree," replied Shiranui.
"I'm detecting a familiar mind at the top of that building," stated Jean, pointing to the Silph Co. building.
Shiranui let Jean out. "Jean, Teleport us to Celadon City!" The Alakazam nodded and the trio found themselves outside the Pokémon Centre in Celadon City.
"I think we should get the Saffron Gym out of the way before we hit Cinnabar Island," answered Shiranui.
After a while, the local Nurse Joy came out and stated. "Good news, Shiranui; your Gardevoir has a clean bill of health." Shiranui let out a sigh of relief, thankful he took the precaution of having Titania use Misty Terrain to prevent status problems during the gym battle. Titania came out of the ER and embraced Shiranui with a feeling of gratitude.
Shiranui rushed back to the Pokémon Centre, feeling concerned for Titania's health.
"Alright then," Shiranui accepted and both he and Koga were at their respective places on the battlefield.
"This battle will be a 3-on-3 single battle with no time limit," Koga stated, "Don't think I'll go easy on you, Shiranui."
"If you did, my victory would be a hollow one that lacked honour," rebutted Shiranui.
"Well said," said Koga with a smile as he readied a Poké Ball, "Go Venomoth!" Shiranui scanned Koga's opening Pokémon with his Pokédex.
"Venomoth, the Poison Moth Pokémon and the evolved form of Venonat. The wings are covered with dustlike scales. Every time it flaps its wings, it looses highly toxic dust."
"Titania, I choose you!" Shiranui sent his Gardevoir out.
"The Psychic-type Gardevoir—it may be good against Poison Pokémon, but alas like other psychics they're weak to Bug-type moves. Venomoth, Silver Wind!"
"Titania, Psychic! Mega Ring activate!" Shiranui touched the stone on his Mega Ring and an orb formed around Titania until it shattered revealing the Gardevoir looking like she wore a 16th century crinoline dress and her chest horn had duplicated with the two horns making a V-shape. Titania used her mental abilities to hurl Venomoth into a wall, leaving the moth to fall down KO'd. "For the record, my Gardevoir is not weak to Bug-type attacks as her Fairy type nullifies that weakness," stated Shiranui.
"I heard about these Fairy Pokémon, but I wasn't expecting you to pull off whatever you did there," replied Koga, "No matter, you have two more Pokémon to face. Seviper, you're up!"
"I'm glad I don't have a Zangoose with me otherwise this would be a blood bath," Shiranui thought as he scanned Seviper with his Pokédex.
"Seviper, the Fang Snake Pokémon. Constant polishing makes the edge of the blade on its tail extremely sharp. It's Zangoose's archrival."
"Seviper, Poison Fang!"
"Titania, Misty Terrain!" The Mega Gardevoir covered the battlefield in a beautiful-looking mist before taking a nasty bite from Seviper. The mist prevented Titania from getting badly poisoned, but she did take a lot of damage.
"Once more; Poison Fang!"
"Titania, Psychic!" Titania hurled Seviper with her psychic abilities into the wall, making an imprint right next to that of Venomoth. Seviper fell to the floor KO'd just like Venomoth.
"Go Crobat!" Koga sent his Crobat out and the bat was flitting about above the mist. "I don't know what that mist does, but Crobat is immune to its effects."
"If only he knew how counter-intuitive that statement was," Shiranui thought before he scanned Crobat with his Pokédex.
"Crobat, the Bat Pokémon and the fully-evolved form of Zubat. Having four wings allows it to fly more quickly and quietly so it can sneak up on prey without its noticing."
"Crobat, Poison Fang!"
"Titania, Double Team!" Crobat put its high speed into use and gave Titania a critical bite to her head that knocked her out. The downed Mega Gardevoir reverted to her normal form before Shiranui recalled her.
"Tetsu, I choose you!" Shiranui sent his Lairon out. "Iron Defense!"
"Crobat, Acrobatics!" Crobat swooped down and struck Tetsu for a surprisingly high amount of damage for an attack that was heavily resisted by the Lairon's type. Tetsu's steel hide gained lustre as it became harder.
"Crobat, Confuse Ray!"
"Tetsu, Stone Edge!" Crobat let off a very bright flash that left Tetsu confused. The Lairon was focused enough to stomp the ground with his front legs, causing huge stalagmites to jut out from the mist and nail Crobat for some heavy damage.
"Crobat, Bite!"
"Tetsu, Iron Tail!" Crobat swooped in and gave Tetsu a bite, causing the Lairon to flinch.
"Crobat, Bite once more!"
"Tetsu, Rock Tomb!" Crobat swooped in and delivered another bite. Tetsu snapped out of his confusion and started glowing. The Lairon morphed from a quadruped to a biped and two horns sprouted from his head. The glow disappeared to reveal an Aggron. "Aggron, the Iron Armor Pokémon and the evolved form of Lairon. It claims an entire mountain as its own. The more wounds it has, the more it has battled, so don't take it lightly." Tetsu ripped up the stalagmites from earlier and hurled them at Crobat, trapping the bat in a rocky pile. The Aggron pulled the stalagmites off one by one and revealed a knocked-out Crobat.
"That was a very impressive battle, Shiranui; and for that I award you the Soul Badge," Koga congratulated.
"Thanks Koga," replied Shiranui as he accepted the badge, "It was an honour to finally battle you." Koga smiled as he left to heal his Pokémon.
Shiranui nodded and led Liam through the maze.
"We're in a ninja maze," answered Shiranui feeling at home in the gym on account of where he lived, "My father used to take me here a lot and he's shown me a lot of the traps we'll be encountering like the walls opening to a cliff drop and the Voltorb traps. I also recall seeing shuriken traps somewhere. He built his dojo where I live kind of like this before he took off to Kalos to get a certain Pokémon that fits his lifestyle."
