"Sundan, Agility! Mega Ring activate!" Mizukage threw a salvo of five watery throwing stars at Sundan and three of them hit the Scizor. Shiranui activated the keystone on his Mega Ring and Sundan became a Mega Scizor. He relaxed and as a result became faster. Shiranui noticed Mizukage was a slightly different colour and checked his Pokédex. "Greninja's hidden ability: Protean. Before the Pokémon uses a move, it becomes a pure Pokémon of that type."
"So Mizukage can change types every time he attacks. I can beat him with some skill, strategy and a bit of luck," Shiranui mused before getting back to action.
"Mizukage, Water Pulse!"
"Sundan, Toxic!" The Mega Scizor launched twin shots of poison at Mizukage and the Greninja was badly poisoned. Sundan received a blast of water from Mizukage afterwards.
"Mizukage, Double Team!"
"Sundan, Night Slash!" Sundan's pincers glowed with a dark energy as the Mega Scizor charged in and slashed at Mizukage. The Greninja made several copies, hoping to evade further attacks.
"Mizukage, Surf!"
"Sundan, Aerial Ace!" Sundan pinpointed which Greninja was the real Mizukage and zeroed in for a hit made more powerful by the Technician ability. Mizukage was knocked out and Shiranui won the battle.
"Congratulations son," Mr. Tsukiko said, "I hereby make you my successor and I also bestow upon you two gifts. The first is a Soothe Bell to help you bond with your Pokémon and the second will be given to you at the Daycare Centre in Kalos."
"Thanks father," replied Shiranui, knowing a Soothe Bell was just what he needed for Tachi.

"Greninja, the Ninja Pokémon. It appears and vanishes with a ninja's grace. It toys with its enemies using swift movements, while slicing them with throwing stars of sharpest water."
"Sundan, I choose you!" Shiranui sent his newly-evolved Scizor out, equipped with a Scizorite. The two Pokémon sized each other up.
"Father, I accept," replied Shiranui.
