"I sure am," answered Shiranui.
"Duly noted," Shiranui acknowledged, receiving his Poké Balls.
"That's probably why they called it the Lake of Rage," Shiranui remarked, knowing about the Gyarados species' berserker tendencies, "I saw something on the TV a while back about a shiny one swimming around."
Shiranui sat down after handing his Poké Balls over to the Chansey. "What do you think the Lake of Rage is like?" he inquired.
Shiranui nodded and went back to the Pokémon Centre.
After Pryce healed his Pokémon, it was time for Shiranui to challenge him. He sent Dewgong out and Shiranui sent out one of his old friends—a Hitmonlee named Kettobasu. "Dewgong, Aurora Beam!"
"Kettobasu, High Jump Kick!" Kettobasu jumped high into the air and delivered a powerful kick to Dewgong, made even stronger by the Black Belt he wore. Dewgong, being a defensive Pokémon, had survived the hit. It fired an iridescent beam at Kettobasu and the Hitmonlee got blasted. "Dewgong, Sheer Cold!"
"Kettobasu, Rolling Kick!" The Hitmonlee lashed out with a spinning kick using his stretchy legs, striking Dewgong and making it flinch. "Try again, Dewgong!"
"Kettobasu, Brick Break!" Kettobasu gave Dewgong the coup de grâce in the form of a karate kick.

Pryce switched the downed Dewgong for his Mamoswine. "Mamoswine, Earthquake!"
"Kettobasu, High Jump Kick!" The Hitmonlee jumped into the air and delivered a vertical kick onto Mamoswine's back, causing a lot of damage. Mamoswine stomped the battlefield with its front feet and sent a tremor that tripped Kettobasu into a knockout.
Shiranui switched Kettobasu for Wani and now both gym leader and challenger were down to their last Pokémon.
"Mamoswine, Earthquake!"
"Wani, Waterfall!" This time, Mamoswine was faster as it sent another quake out. Wani felt it, but the damage was not as much. The Feraligatr charged at Mamoswine and struck it with power equivalent to climbing a waterfall. Mamoswine was knocked out.

"Your determination can get you far and for that I award you the Glacier Badge," Pryce congratulated.
"Thanks Pryce," replied Shiarnui.
Shiranui made sure to have Sundan, Ruiji and Kaki on his team as they had an advantage to the gym's type.
"The gym if possible," answered Shiranui.
Shiranui saw Raikou arrive from the direction of Mahogany Town. He pulled out his Pokédex and scanned the legendary. "Raikou, the Thunder Pokémon. Raikou embodies the speed of lightning. The roars of this Pokémon send shock waves shuddering through the air and shake the ground as if lightning bolts had come crashing down."
"Hikari, I choose you!" He sent his Lanturn out and Raikou was poised for battle. "Hikari, start with Confuse Ray!" Raikou unleashed a Discharge attack that had no effect on Hikari thanks to the Lanturn's Volt Absorb ability. Hikari let off a bright flash that left Raikou confused. "Hikari, Soak it!" Raikou had enough focus to use Extrasensory that did a lot of damage. Hikari sprayed a blast of water that left Raikou so wet its type was changed to Water. "Use your own Discharge!" Raikou tried to use Extrasensory again, but the legendary hurt itself. Hikari zapped Raikou for a lot more damage than the legendary would have normally felt. "Here goes nothing. Ultra Ball, go!" Shiranui threw an Ultra Ball and Raikou was drawn in.

The ball shook and burst open after the third shake. Raikou tried to zap Hikari with a Discharge again, but the attack only healed the Lanturn. "Hikari, Thunder Wave!" Raikou snapped out of its confusion and used Bite. Shiranui was lucky Hikari didn't flinch as the Lanturn zapped Raikou into paralysis, which worked thanks to the Soak from earlier. "Ultra Ball, go!" Shiranui threw another Ultra Ball and the stricken Raikou was drawn in. The legendary tried to fight both the Ultra Ball and its paralysis, but this time it was to no avail as the ball pinged shut, its light a steady red.

"Welcome to the team, Raijuu."
Shiranui enjoyed riding Lapras' back and started thinking about catching one of his own.
