When the heroes went north onto Route 14, they beheld a swamp with a nearby playground that was devoid of people.
"I sure am," answered Shiranui.
Shiranui did similarly, wondering what the road ahead would be like.
"I say we should," answered Shiranui, "The next gym is in Laverre City north of here."
"Congratulations on your win, Liam," Shiarnui praised.
The rescue squad arrived back at the gym. "Mission accomplished!" stated Shiranui as Yoto sheathed himself.
Shiranui was glad Liam's Gallade showed up to help. When the Gallade and the Talonflame were in range, Shiranui threw Yoto at the mechanical arms. "Gallade, get ready to intercept Heliolisk; Ash, get your Talonflame near Gallade," Shiranui instructed and after Gallade and Ash were in position he had Yoto use Night Slash to cut the mechanical arms at the wrists. Honoh flew into position to intercept Sandshrew and the three captive Pokémon were caught—Heliolisk in Gallade's arms, Pikachu in Ash's arms and Sandshrew in Shiranui's arms. "Sayonara, suckers!" Shiranui crowed as the rescuers flew back towards the Prism Tower with Yoto guarding the rear.
"Honoh, time to help," Shiranui sent his Talonflame out and the two birds took off, Honoh with Shiranui mounted. Shiranui drew Yoto out and was poised to attack, the two swords in each of his hands. "Honoh, use Tailwind to boost us!" Honoh nodded and flapped harder, creating a following wind that made the two birds faster.
"In that case, I'll go first," Shiranui answered. Clemont stated the rules for the gym, which were a fairly standard set for Shiranui—three Pokémon each side. Clemont opened with an Emolga and Shiranui scanned the flying rodent. "Emolga, the Sky Squirrel Pokémon. They live on treetops and glide using the inside of a cape-like membrane while discharging electricity."
"Tsudzumaru, let's rock and roll!" Shiranui sent his Roggenrola out and the battle was on.
"Emolga, Electro Ball!"
"Tsudzumaru, Smack Down!" Emolga formed an orb of electricity and threw it at Tsudzumaru. The Roggenrola survived the hit thanks to his Sturdy ability. Tsudzumaru started glowing, evolving to a Boldore before launching a rock at Emolga and nailing it for a hit. Emolga was grounded and Shiranui scanned his Boldore. "Boldore, the Ore Pokémon and the evolved form of Roggenrola. Because its energy was too great to be contained, the energy leaked out and formed orange crystals."
"Emolga, Shock Wave!"
"Tsudzumaru, Power Gem!" Emolga launched a ripple of electricity and that was what it took for Tsudzumaru to be knocked out.

"Tsudzumaru, return; Sunawani, I choose you!" Shiranui switched his Boldore for his Krokorok.
"Emolga, Acrobatics!"
"Sunawani, Earthquake!" Emolga pulled off some gymnastic moves before striking Sunawani for a powerful blow. Having enough of the pesky Emolga, Sunawani stomped the field, causing it to shake. Being grounded from Tsudzumaru's Smack Down, Emolga felt the tremors and was knocked out, evening the score.

"Emolga, return; Magneton, you're up!" Clemont replaced the downed Emolga for his Magneton. "Magneton, Mirror Shot!"
"Sunawani, Earthquake!" This time, Sunawani was faster as the Krokorok stomped the field again. Magneton was rattled, but held on with its Sturdy ability, allowing it to let off a flash of light from its metallic body. Magneton's attack missed.
"Magneton, Mirror Shot once more!"
"Sunawani, Crunch!" The Krokorok charged in and caught Magneton in his jaws. One bite was enough to render Magneton knocked out.

"Magneton, return; Heliolisk, you're up!" Clemont sent out his Heliolisk in Magneton's place and Shiranui scanned it, having never seen a Heliolisk before.
"Heliolisk, the Generator Pokémon. They flare their frills and generate energy. A single Heliolisk can generate sufficient electricity to power a skyscraper."
"Heliolisk, Quick Attack!"
"Sunawani, Earthquake!" Heliolisk charged its legs and zipped over to Sunawani, delivering a critical hit that knocked the Krokorok out.

"Sunawani, return; Seiryoku, I choose you!" Shiranui switched his Krokorok for his Golett.
"Heliolisk, Electrify!"
"Seiryoku, Dynamic Punch!" Heliolisk zapped Seiryoku's fists, but the move did not affect the Golett. Seiryoku charged at Heliolisk, winding up for a punch. Heliolisk tried to dodge the incoming move, but Seiryoku punched the reptilian generator in the belly, knocking Heliolisk out in one hit. Shiranui won the Voltage Badge.
Shiranui pulled his Pokédex out to scan Bonnie's Dedenne. "Dedenne, the Antenna Pokémon. Its whiskers serve as antennas. By sending and receiving electrical waves, it can communicate with others over vast distances."
"Then perhaps you lot can come with us to the Tower," he offered.
