"The first two would be something an evil Team may be after," stated Shiranui, "They are known for changing the weather."

"Some research on the local legendary Pokémon may turn up some sort of clue," answered Shiranui.

"Not just that, Shroomish will come in handy if we have to sneak around thanks to their ability to use Spore," added Shiranui.

"I plan to catch a Shroomish when we get to the Petalburg Woods," stated Shiranui.

"It'll give us plenty of time to bond with and train our new friends," stated Shiranui.

"Niwatori, come on out!" Shiranui opened the Poké Ball he was given and unbeknownst to him, the Great Ball on his belt opened as well. Two Torchic were revealed, one of which was Zoro in Illusion.
"Torchic, the Chick Pokémon. Torchic has a place inside its body where it keeps its flame. Give it a hug—it will be glowing with warmth. This Pokémon is covered all over by a fluffy coat of down." Shiranui picked one of the Torchic up and it didn't have the glowing warmth that had been mentioned. "Zoro, return!" Deducing it was his Zorua in disguise, Shiranui recalled the giggling illusionist and picked up the real Torchic, this time feeling its warmth. "That was Zoro, one of your new teammates," he said to Niwatori, showing the Torchic the Zorua entry on his Pokédex, "He like to play these sort of tricks." Niwatori was starting to like his new trainer after seeing what Zoro was capable of.

"It could be possible we were simply early," Shiranui speculated.

Shiranui did the same, keeping two friends he caught in Kalos. He wanted his Torchic to have company in his party.
