A bolt of electricity was soon shot into the air. "I think Electrike found something," stated Shiranui.

"Sounds like a good idea," replied Shiranui, "Electrike, use Odor Sleuth to get Spoink's scent!" He sent his Electrike out and the electric canine soon identified Spoink's scent. "Follow the trail!" Like an Officer Jenny's Growlithe, Electrike started running towards Jagged Pass.

Shiranui pulled out his Pokédex. "Spoink, the Bounce Pokémon. Spoink bounces around on its tail. The shock of its bouncing makes its heart pump. As a result, this Pokémon cannot afford to stop bouncing—if it stops, its heart will stop."
"We better find its missing pearl before we take on the gym," Shiranui suggested, "Spoink, just keep bouncing. We'll help get your pearl back."

Shiranui thanked the second Chansey as well before putting his Poké Balls on his belt. "Alright, guys, listen up. Because of proximity to a volcano and the fact this place is famous for its onsen, we can deduce the Gym Leader Flannery's speciality type to be Fire," he stated, "We all know what can beat a Fire-type Pokémon, but as with every gym, be careful of counter-strategies."

"Thanks Chansey," said Shiranui, feeling mentally exhausted after telling Looker what he knew.

Shiranui accepted Liam's offer before he started giving Looker his statement. "Looker, as you may have heard, Teams Aqua and Magma are in pursuit of orbs," said Shiranui, "Based on my research of the local legends, the orbs are the Red and Blue Orbs said to be connected to two legendary Pokémon known as Groudon and Kyogre. Based on the rhetoric we heard from them, Team Aqua wants to use Kyogre's power to make the oceans bigger, create a water world and wipe out humanity—the latter of which was something Team Flare already tried to do in Kalos a while back. Team Magma wants to use Groudon's power to expand the landmasses to create more room for human habitation and development. What they have in common is that both Teams seem to be labouring under the delusion that humans and Pokémon cannot coexist together. If they're left unchecked, Hoenn will be the epicentre of an ecological disaster."

The heroes eventually descended the pass and reached Lavaridge Town.

"Well, we were heading to Lavaridge Town via the Jagged Pass," replied Shiranui, "You can tag along if you want."

Shiranui heard the cracks about the orb from Archie and Maxie and went over to Looker. "I'd like to give you a statement about what they're doing," he requested.

"I challenge you to a battle, Tabby! Or should I call you Tubby?" Tabitha was furious at the name calling and sent a Koffing out. Shiranui sent Titania out and one Psychic was enough to knock the explosive gas bag out. The admin switched for a Numel.
"Numel, the Numb Pokémon. Numel is extremely dull witted—it doesn't notice being hit. However, it can't stand hunger for even a second. This Pokémon's body is a seething cauldron of boiling magma." Shiranui switched Titania for Hoshi and one Scald took Numel out, though it took a while for Numel to notice being hit.

"One side, fat man!" said Shiranui before hurrying past.
