Shiranui had been watching the battles from the spectator box he was assigned, noting some of the strategies he saw.
"Overconfidence can leave you blind to the element of surprise," rebutted Shiranui, "Keep your feet on the ground and your eyes on the prize and you can achieve all your goals."
"Do well enough and you will," Shiranui encouraged.
"What can I say?" replied Shiranui, "Liam and I are both equally good."
Shiranui praised Hoshi and Yamamoto while they were healing and had Poké puffs at the ready for all the Pokémon he had used during his Grand Festival run.
Yamamoto burst out of the ground and attacked Blissey while Hoshi swooped in for a third Rollout attack on Smaug. The Mega Tyranitar had survived the Earthquake purely because of Blissey's very low physical stats. Shiranui had indeed lost a lot of points from the combo and the time was up after his Pokémon executed their attacks.
"Yamamoto, Dig at Blissey!" Hoshi returned for another attack while Yamamoto went underground, avoiding Smaug's attack.
"Yamamoto, Protect; Hoshi, Rollout at Smaug!" Yamamoto conjured his shield and blocked the beam of sunlight and weak tremors from damaging him. Hoshi was not affected by the Earthquake due to being partly a Flying type and in retaliation, spun towards Smaug. The time limit on the battle was on the verge of running out.
"Yamamoto, Stone Edge on Smaug; Hoshi, Psyshock on Blissey!" The sandstorm lifted and the sun shone brightly before Hoshi got blasted by Smaug's Solar Beam, suffering only minor damage due to a double resistance. The Starmie's core glowed violet as it fired a purple beam of aura at Blissey. Yamamoto roared before charging at Smaug with rocks orbiting his fist as he wound up for an attack.
