Shiranui received his Poké Balls and decided to swap Jean for Yamamoto.
"I think it's the tower," stated Shiranui, "If you lived around a haunted cemetery, you'd be about as creepy as the Addams family; and this is coming from someone who lives near towers."
Shiranui also wanted to push on to Route 8 as soon as possible while he waited for his Pokémon to heal.
Shiranui knew after a right turn at Lavender Town, it would be an almost-straight shot to Celadon City.
Shiranui spotted a tower on the horizon and felt a dreadful vibe. "Is that Pokémon Tower in the distance?" he asked.
Shiranui nodded in agreement, remembering seeing the six-Pokémon maximum in his studies.
"Thanks," Shiranui replied, "I assume the reason why Yamamoto's Poké Ball is glowing red is because I have too many Pokémon with me."
Shiranui had found a Larvitar resting after a meal. "Larvitar, the Rock Skin Pokémon. It feeds on soil. After it has eaten a large mountain, it falls asleep so it can grow."
"Sapphire, Night Shade!" Out came Shiranui's Sableye and she promptly fired a shadowy version of Ice Beam from her crystal eyes. Larvitar got hit and tried to use Chip Away, but Sapphire phased through the attack. "Sapphire, Fury Swipes!" The Sableye unleashed a series of swipes at Larvitar that left it a little exhausted. Larvitar tried Bite and that only had a normal effect on Sapphre. "Poké Ball, go!" Shiranui threw a Poké Ball at Larvitar and it was drawn in. He waited a while as the ball shook until it pinged, signalling its capture. After he named his newest friend Yamamoto, Shiranui discovered the the Larvitar's Poké Ball still had a red light.
Shiranui descended a level and got a bit more of a challenge in the form of stronger Pokémon. He had Shishi light the cave.
Shiranui had trained Fushigi and Tetsu on the local Geodude population.
