Bio

Greetings,

I am Jb; Briton by birth, roleplayer by my own hand, and lover of literature. I am also an amateur historian, a receiver of a Bachelors degree in Ancient and Medieval History - quite a useless degree, actually - and would like to think that I'm a fair, honest and open guy.

As far as RP'ing goes, I'm pretty open to most things really, all you need to do is ask! :)

So, if you've ever any questions for me, wish to speak about RP's involving myself or run by myself, or simply feel like a chat, don't be afraid to get in touch.

The wraithbone, it sings to me...

I am present and accounted for.
@Keepvogel Sort of got that feeling, yea. Whelp, was good having you here anyway.

As for the rest of you, I will get us moving again, I'm just formulating things within my cranium atm.
Indeed, much like Astartes there is no real age that is seen as a 'cut off point' for Orks. They fight and grow constantly until they die...if they're not dead, they're just ageing and getting bigger. Orks also get far larger and beefier after defeating a rival.

So...yea.
Can I get in on this? I love Orks

Of course you may! More the merrier.
Orks are pretty exciting, in a ramshackle and crazed sort of way, and I am excited for them Greenies.
@Shorticus That's fair enough, just as long as we keep this going; may I ask what this other RP is?
What is worse than having a Hobgoblin inside your feasting hall? Having several racially divided mercenaries in one place, apparently.

Poor, poor, Alfredo; it had been bad enough with only one sword-for-hire, and a greenskin at that, but he had barely had time to point out all the delicious morsels laid out for him when a Dwarf had joined them. How he had made his way here was completely a mystery to the elderly servant, but he assumed it must be some sort of innate Dwarfen ability of sorts, not that it really mattered all that much. What did matter was that between getting from one moment to this current moment, Alfredo had very nearly had several severe heart attacks and was currently trying to hold back a apoplectic shock that was violently threatening to overwhelm him.

"I-" he managed to groan from between gritted teeth, one skeletal hand clutching at his rapidly palpitating chest, "I need to...sit down."

A couple of steps backward carried him to one of the many chairs arranged around the table further into the hall, an area that thankfully had not been touched by the violence - not the heavy set Norscan, nor the one-armed Dwarf, or even the suicidal Goblin who seemed to have appeared from nowhere. The food remained in place, as did the furniture, and as those milky eyes looked upon this, and saw that it was good, a calm descended upon the aged servant.

"Please," he coughed as the Dwarf announced his intentions to fillet the Hobgoblin, "he must be alive," a wheeze escaped his lips as he raised a weary arm, as thin as a twig, "will you not all join me here at the table, there is plenty of food for hungry adventurers, non?"

Please he prayed inwardly please let their eyes be bigger than their...weapons.

It was at this time that Jan, fresh from a fruitful breakfast of eggs and sausage, and a whole pipe-bowl of Halfling weed, made his way through the ruins and arrived at the keep. Needless to say he was impressed, for he was easily impressed by most dwellings of the larger folk, except even he could see that it needed some repairs and he was no engineer.

Using his cleaver as a walking stick-cum-crutch, he padded his way along the corridors, eventually coming to a point where he could make out the shape of someone standing in the outer passage; from what he could make out it was female...human...and, dare he think, quite attractive. It took him a moment to stop thinking with his 'cleaver' and decide to make his presence known, walking almost without a sound to within an arms length of the elegantly armoured Tilean.

"Excuse me," came the greeting, his voice oddly bass for such a diminutive figure, "I do believe that I'm meant to be in there, an I can smell food..."

Brushing his way past the woman, now almost completely forgotten in his mind, he ignored the four other sellswords and made straight for the platers and dishes of assorted foodstuffs - as any good Halfling of the Moot would!

Within moments he was face-deep in a haunch of pig, and woe betide anyone who tried to pry him from it.
Ere' we go! Ere' we go! Ere' we go!

This RP is now accepting new characters

Summary:

- A jaunt of daring and do within the Warhammer 40,000 universe and setting.

- Characters can come in most shapes and sizes, their age, experience and so forth pretty much up to the participant; that being said, I will immediately reject any God-like beings or over the top characters.

- Violence and so forth are expected and accepted (we're Orks), let's just keep it to a 'adult' level without it getting X-rated!

- Our tale takes place in the most up-to-date period of 40K timeline, the beginnings of the 41st Millennium.

- This is for Greenskins only - that said, all 'levels' of the Orkoid food chain are open for application.

- No-one is to begin any higher than a Nob in rank, there's a point to this.

- Character sheets will be accepted based on merit alone, not 'first come first serve'; the more odd/powerful your character, the more exceptional your character sheet will need to be.

- I fully expect, and intend, for characters to evolve over time during this RP. An example might be that someone loses a limb and seeks a bionic replacement, whether they get one will be both up to me as GM and the participants as a whole; character sheets will then be edited to show any changes, as with a TT role-playing game, and just remember that every action will likely have some form of reaction.

- Please read these threads on Freebooterz, and Orks if you're not sure where to start or need a refresher on Ork-kind.

In Character Info:

The Orks, also called Greenskins, are a savage, warlike, green-skinned race of humanoids who are spread all across the Milky Way Galaxy. They share many features with Warhammer Fantasy Orcs (and were initially called "Space Orcs" to distinguish them). They are seen by their enemies (pretty much everyone else in the universe) as savage, warlike, and crude, but they are the most successful species in the whole galaxy, outnumbering possibly every other intelligent race, even Mankind (with the very plausible exception of the Tyranids).

Greenskins are one of the most dangerous alien races to plague the galaxy. Numerous beyond belief and driven always to fight and conquer, the Orks threaten every single intelligent species of the galaxy. Orks are possibly the most warlike aliens in the 41st Millennium, and their number is beyond counting. Amid constant, seething tides of war and bloodshed, burgeoning Ork stellar empires rise and fall. Mercifully most are short-lived, soon destroying themselves in a maelstrom of violence and internecine conflict, but should the Orks ever truly unify, they would crush all opposition.

The Orks' unquenchable thirst for battle has always proved their downfall: historically, the Ork tribes have spent much of their time fighting amongst themselves, waging brutal wars with only the strongest surviving. On occasion, an Ork leader will emerge who is mighty enough to defeat his rivals and unite the warring tribes. His success draws other tribes to him, and soon a great WAAAGH! is underway -- partly a migration, partly a holy war that can exterminate the populations of entire star systems. When the Orks are on the rampage, the galaxy trembles, and in these dark days of the End Time, there are more WAAAGH!s rising than ever before recorded.

This is where you come in.

Now is the time of gathering, but space is a very big place indeed - the Milky Way Galaxy but one part of it - and who is to say what lies beyond the fringes of the known? Now is your chance to join a crew of Freebooterz and mercenary Orkoids, to gather some excellent teef, and eventually to rise to the top of the pyramid.

Out of character info:

Welcome, one and all, to the grim darkness of the future where their is only war!

As part of a group, you shall obviously be forming an Orkoid collective; first as Freebooterz or simply singular Orks, but later on...who knows?; that being said, I have no doubt that each and every character will have their own agenda, motives and overall goals in mind, and I would hope for nothing less.

To begin with, as stated above, we will have a short 'gathering of the klans' - basically getting everyone together - from there we shall go ahead with a narrative I have prepared and see where it takes us. Let it be noted, however, that this is more like a sandbox RP - if anyone has a flash of inspiration, or an idea, them please PM it to be for discussion. I am the GM, but I am not the only player or mind here.

I expect everyone will have some knowledge of Warhammer 40K, but for those that might lack a little, I have always found warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Warhammer_.. to be one of the best places to look. Just make certain that the information has a source, otherwise it is very likely fan made and therefore not canon.

The 'Warboss Mechanic'

One Ork may challenge another at any time during the RP, they will then both be required to post their own version of how the fight will go down. Actions taken and so forth. It will then be up to a vote of their peers to pronounce the winner, and ultimately who rises through the ranks the quickest. Points to take into consideration when voting will be Orkiness, likelihood (a Grot winning over a Nob with just a rusty knife?), comedy and general writing skills - this should not mean that those with a lesser grasp of English be penalised, so no worries.
