Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

Seeing as we're probably going to be Cha heavy, I'm considering switching to a Wis char. I'm looking at Way of the Sun Soul from SCAG (pg 131). Might cross that with Cleric or Druid at some point for some heals, but I might just go full monk. Also, I just now saw Sun Soul and it looks interesting.
Finally, a handgun. Ryobi felt at less of a disadvantage with the weapon in his hand, but caution was still needed. Pistol shots were loud and echoey inside the space station, and there was always a chance of a ricochet. Perhaps almost as enticing was the first aid kit, which was definitely a requirement for the pair of matching cuts the two of them had.

Ryobi noted the look that Pryce gave him, and although he wanted little more than to immediately follow her there, some pressing matters needed his attention first. The first aid kit was the first thing Ryobi picked up, and he quickly retrieved the antiseptic. "Kitt, could you look for a backpack, please?" Ryobi asked as he began to treat his cut. He inhaled sharply at the familiar sting as he cleaned the wound, and wrapped a bandage around it. It was shoddy work and temporary, but Ryobi wasn't exactly planning to avoid the medics forever.

Ryobi looked at the radio with some hesitation. Normally, checking in with the Captain would be top priority, and Kitt knew that. There was no doubt as to whether he should take the radio or not, just how quickly he should use it. Ryobi also wondered whether Pryce had checked in, or if she shared some of his same doubts. He would find out sooner or later.

Kitt returned with the backpack, and Ryobi thanked her as he dumped the contents out on Pryce's desk. Several personal hygiene products, other personal effects... Ryobi placed her wallet in the drawer where Pryce had stored the handgun and dropped the shiv there as well. With the new weaponry, the shiv was more dangerous to carry around than help. He tossed the useless material into the drawer as well and locked it before placing everything else back in the bag. He stopped as his hand hovered over a journal. He probably should leave this as well, since space was limited, but curiosity made him return the book to the bag, along with her phone, an mp3 player, and some hand sanitizer. The personal-sized pepper spray in the bag clipped into the utility belt, and Ryobi stood up, ready for action.

"Kitt, I need you to stay here and watch our stuff. I'm going to head back to get Pryce patched up. Should be back in a few minutes. If you need us, bring the backpack." Placing the pistol into his belt, he made his way back to the showers.
Haven't done an Advanced RP before (plenty of high-quality casuals, though). About how "advanced" are you planning for this to be, and how quickly are you expecting posts? Obviously good grammar, etc., but are you expecting five pages twice a week, or basically something that feels adequate depending on the situation?
@Cu Chulainn Personally, I'm always a fan of juxtaposing character concepts with the culture of the setting. It makes for more interesting interactions with NPCs. I also wouldn't mind seeing a Pheonix Sorc, but if we've got a bard, a paladin, and a sorc, we're going to be the most charismatic party to ever adventure.

Oh, good. Then it's just on my end. Is the other image still being stewpid?

Nope, she's back~ Everything's all good and adorable.
It had only been a couple of days since Ryobi last felt the embrace of another, but those couple of days were some of the roughest of his life. He held Pryce firmly, allowing her to soak his collar with tears. If he knew Pryce, and he was fairly certain he did, he was privy to the rarest of emotional responses from the Warden and should consider himself lucky to be trusted with such a gift. More important, she was safe, and no one important got hurt beyond repair. Physically, at least.

The embrace broke off sooner than Ryobi wanted, but an eternity would be too soon. He acknowledged Jan's gratitude with a nod, knowing that any more than that would be less than appreciated, and returned her jest with one of his own. "I should have called ahead. Next time, I'll bring popcorn," he muttered. At Kitt's interjection, Ryobi bent down to retrieve the keys. "Thanks, Kitt, but let's hold off on the medbots just a moment." With the keys retrieved, Ryobi unlocked the cuffs on the Warden's wrists and helped her to her feet. "First, we should get some spare clothes for you, Pryce. And a first aid kit, maybe use the prison showers to clean off. I have some things I'd like to pick your brain on."
You're talking about these, right? @HylianRose

I can see them on my end. There was just one borked image.
I booped you on Discord already, but I'll say I'm tentatively interested.
@The Harbinger of Ferocity In addition to Cu's questions, I might suggest that starting at lvl 5 might be an option for a combat-heavy campaign. That's where casters get cantrip bonuses, martial classes get Extra Attack, and full casters have enough spells to feel useful without needing a long rest every three battles. In addition, the DMG provides suggestions for starting gear at lvl 5. Just a suggestion; I don't mind starting at lvl 3, but the low levels are simply not as fun for me personally (I've had plenty of campaigns get to lvl 5 and just stop).

Also, if this is intended to be a live game, I will be unable to join, as I simply don't have the uninterrupted free time for it. If it's PBP on the forum, I shouldn't have any issues. Still trying to figure out a character idea, but I'm considering a martial bard.
@The Harbinger of FerocityAnother question - What is your intended starting level for the 5e game? If not lvl 1, what sort of gear do you intend to allow us to start with?
