Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

An hour passed since the fight's conclusion. The group spent their time resting and tending to their wounds, some of them searching through the area. There didn't appear to be much of significant value here, and once Ary had played a tune to ease their pains, Yvah picked the lock into the next room. There was little inside other than a writing desk that appeared to have a guest log of some sort, along with a dried out ink well and a quill. In the back corner was another desk, this one mostly cleared of anything of interest. Only a few scant papers were on its surface, and none of them had any writing on it.

More interesting was the stairwell leading down. Of course, stairs were nothing foreign to cathedrals. Nearly every place of worship had a location to bury its dead or prepare its sanctimonious traditions. What caught the interest of those who cared to look was the sign of torchlight flickering on the wall below as the stair met a landing and turned out of sight.

@Dark Light That sounds pretty good to me. He would originally been a part of DJ's security stationed at his establishment. Once he proved himself trustworthy, I'm sure your PC's particular skills would have elevated him to head of security quickly.

Damian would be happy to have a pitbull at his side.
@JBRam2002 Hey easy money is still money. If he gets to hurt people along the way that's just a bonus. I'll have a sheet up soonish.

Just be aware my PC does expect to be able to trust his crew, especially those in head positions. He would be more than willing to listen to advice, etc, however.
@JBRam2002 currently working on an ex-military anarchist brawler. A rough guy with anger issues.
(I know anarchy and military don't mix hence the dishonourable discharge.)

Got any job opportunities or ideas to cross stories?

Sounds like a good head of security option. Might be a bit underwhelming for you, but DJ has gotten himself in trouble several times.
I'm waiting for us to have a fight offline. We'll all die in several excruciating seconds.

Side note: if anyone wishes to be a part of my character's company, just let me know. I've got plenty of opportunities for an enterprising young individual.
Kimiko Maita & Yatsufusa

@Crimmy | @Suku

"Now's our chance!" Kimiko cried out. With the combined efforts of the group, the flaming monsters were driven back slowly, their forms seemingly less vibrant than before. The attacks took their toll on the conflagrations, while Kimiko seemed completely unphased by their flames. Not even attempting to maintain any sort of defensive posture, Kimiko danced among the flames, her blade darting out to crash against the foe at every opening.

This fight was her tempering, the trial that would reform her into a steel stronger than ever before. This pain was but temporary, a flickering candle before a summer zephyr. The dance was all that mattered in the present moment; all other thoughts cast aside. She cared naught for thoughts of Alex, or her father, or the empty sake bottle. To hold on to these thoughts was to lose focus on the now. The harmonies of the universe balanced delicately for Kimiko on the tip of her blade, swinging in wide arcs as it sang a song the miko had never sung before.

She could leave this battle, chasing after her schoolmate who had been dragged away. She could stand still, a shielding bulwark betaeen Suzune and danger. She could cast her magic, ensuring the safety and longevity of those in the fight. But her choice was the dance, her footsteps matching the rhythm beating in her heart. Yatsu's joy mingled with her own as they closed in on the foe, a fiery whirling dervish besetting on this unknown assailant. For in this moment, Kimiko was free. No command pressed upon her; no chiding from her father. No expectations of excellence to live up to. It was all gone, discarded with the other world's cares.

And thus, she danced.
I've been meaning to hop into an advanced RP for a while. Where better to start than one with a couple of my favorite mods? Totally won't crack under the pressure at all.

@Didgeridont, what sort of specific level of cyberpunk are we looking at? I assume Shadowrun is a fairly common vasis, but there's also Eclipse Phase (where egos sleeve into morphs, etc). I have a pretty decent character in mind for both cases, but I'd of course have to modify to fit this. Would we likely have an AI partner in our heads like those prevalent in both systems? Are there any particular cyberpunk player tropes or themes you would encourage or discourage?

In all her years, Mara had never seen a diamond as large as the one that laid before her now, bored into this man's chest beyond what she could have thought possible. No doubt this diamond was expensive, probably worth more money than she had seen in her entire life. She could remove the diamond with some effort, but no doubt it would result in the man expiring. Some of those nearby might make the assumption that she were trying to kill the man for some reason as well. It was obvious that this required a modicum of thought, a process which generally yielded less-than-favorable results for Mara.

The first thing to consider was the diamond. Just from looking at it, she couldn't discern who placed it there or why, but with the way it seemed to bore right to the man's heart, it was likely someone highly skilled with either magic or medicine. She wondered why someone would go to all of this effort. There must be some benefit to having an expensive gem impeding your breathing. She wracked her brain for anything like this she had ever heard of. Somewhere in the deepest recesses of her brain, she had heard of a gem that resonated with chaos and eschewed order, granting special abilities to those who followed its path and harming those of the opposing path. If this was indeed like the gem she was considering, it would indeed be very powerful for her, and likely for this individual as well. She rubbed the back of her neck thoughtfully, as she was coming up with fewer and fewer reasons to leave him alive.

As she did so, her fingers brushed against the gem that was in her own body. Could... could it be the same thing? She glanced around at the others. They all seemed to have gems, albeit much smaller in size, and likely much less powerful. The various colors must have some meaning. Although she couldn't see her own gem, she could see that there were three distinct colors visible, and each of them seemed to correspond to personalities. She pressed her hand against the gem and concentrated on something that had been nagging at the back of her mind: some new sensation she had never experienced before. She decided to keep this revelation to herself for now, especially with the sound of another level being pulled. "Oy, ya tryna get us killed, ya twat?" Mara called out with frustration. "Flip that lever back! You just trapped the fairy lass!"

To those nearby, her voice dropped to a quieter tone. "I dunno what's up with this diamond, but most like an he's a powerful mage of some sort. Might be he can help us out of here. I'ma check on this other sheet though." With that, she moved to the other side of the room. The others could do with the man what they will, but unless they knew the powers of the gem, they were likely to gain little from it other than some cash. With any luck, she'd be able to snag it first. In any case, she would see what lay on the other pedestal. She pulled the sheet from it revealing... nothing. Well, it appeared to be nothing at first, but she could see a shadow still lay on the slab despite nothing casting a shadow there. So Mara did what anyone would do: poke the shadow. Her finger did not quite reach the slab below before it stopped, pressing against some solid fleshy object that felt like clothing. Her hands ran along the object, trying to determine its nature. After a few seconds, she could determine that it was a feminine figure clothed with a belt, pants, and shirt. The ears seemed of human shape, and her height appeared to be of a moderate or slightly short height for a human. There was little else she could tell without seeing the shape, but a gem could be felt on one of the girl's forearms. "Could probably use some healing here too, ya?"

Kiki never liked the feeling of being left out, and the goblins chatter was one of these moments. Thankfully, a couple of the others seemed to get some information out of them, although whether Kiki helped or not was unclear. With the information shared, Kiki sheathed her blades, not caring whether anyone followed through with her threat or not. "I can help you load up," she replied to Bar. "We don't have to be at odds. Just don't try to hit me and realize I am not your pawn, and we should be best of buds."

As she turned back towards the cart, she passed by Seethe. "Oh, you missed a spot," she said, pointing at Seethe's ankle. In truth, he had been clean about 700 Prestidigitations ago, but he seemed like a good person to tease. Her teasing was quickly interrupted by Cas's offer. "Ooh, that sounds like some really good medicine," she replied. "But maybe we should save it for a more dangerous moment. Elki's healing has helped a lot. I should be fine with a little bit of a rest, I think." Kiki offered a grateful smile to the bard. "I don't think I have ever met a shapechanger before, at least not to talk to. I assume you were the blonde as well? I don't see her around anywhere." Kiki's voice lowered a little. "Tell her I think she's cute, okay?"

With Elki's explanation, Kiki perked up. "Well, if Gundren is captured, we should go get him, right? If anyone is worried about just getting paid, Gundren is probably our only paycheck anyways. Let's save him, and maybe we'll get double! If he dies, I bet we won't see a penny." With that, she picked up the last of the elven arrows and the poison vial before hopping onto the cart. "Come on, let's go! No time to waste!"
