Ties That Bind

Jedly

At first, Jedly thought one of the aforementioned L variants had decided to bombard their location and was about to resort to summoning Bennu. Luckily, that one way ticket to suffering was promptly burned to ashes when a man came rolling out of the hull of a KBot. He took the brief moments he had to analyze the new arrival. The guy was surrounded by an affluent aura, he screamed high class, somebody who had an array of silver spoons offered to him the second he came out of the womb. But since he had essentially just turned himself into a ballistic missile, by society’s standards he would have been classified as a bonafide badass, who melted such silver spoons and drank them alongside money soup. So instead of giving the masked patrician the cold shoulder, Rachel, Juno and Jedly held up signs with the numbers 10 10 8 crudely painted respectively. ”Whaaaaaaa? Only an eight Cipher?! What a crummy critic.”

”Attentive is more like it, young Rachel. Yes, his entry and exit were of the uttermost precision, but did you pay close attention to his form within that hunk of junk? His transition was not as smooth as the rest of his performance. Why yes, the blood of a true judge flows within me!” Jedly shouted, holding a fist and his head high up to the sky as blinding light flashed wickedly behind him.

Eheh~! Kidding, kidding! What, a girl can’t dream of her standoffish friend actually acting like a normal human being for once? Well, I’ll admit that the scene above isn’t exactly normal… Well, anyways, here’s what REALLY happened.”

The three didn’t know whether to act apprehensive or embracing of the guy. Even his tie remained in pristine quality, without even a measly smudge of dust or grime on it. Before anybody could exchange any form of greeting, Juno rocketed her way to the man’s side, ”Look out!” Another N variant had its forearm raised, about to bring it down like a striking hammer. The pink haired maiden skidded to a halt beside him and manifested a small heart case which took the brunt of the attack. With the fine flick of her wrist she then enlarged it so that it fully over-shrouded and called out, ”Open up on it!”

As soon as her words were conducted through the air, two faint thumps went off from both of their sides. Two rockets flew from parallel rooftops and struck the bot without delay. The bot uncontrollably stumbled around as fire poured out of the gaping holes, even in this state it attempted to establish some form of balance in hopes of a programmed recovery. An armada of bullets assaulted the wounded bot’s armor and progressively wore down the metal. The main defense line in cohesion with Jedly and Rachel focused fire on various parts, directed by the GFS squad leader's orders. It wasn’t long before the KBot tumbled into the pavement and was enveloped in a brilliant explosion.

After the havoc died down, the only the ambiance cinders and sparks could be heard. Juno breathed a sigh of relief as the heart case dissipated while the GFS Peacekeeprs reloaded and conversed among themselves. The girl spun herself around and smiled amiably with an outstretched hand. ”Well, totally was not expecting somebody drop in on our shebang… Literally that is.” She chuckled as her friends convened on her, ”I’m Juno, the proponing deity of marriages and ties. Aaaaaaaaand I guess I’ve built myself a bit of a tactical reputation?” Quick-witted and fair judgement was more like it. Cipher was still a little skeptical of the man, but he hoped the helicopter veering towards them had cargo that was on their side. ”The delinquent’s name is Cipher, and the innocent girl next to him is Rachel.” Rachel energetically waved, appreciative of the title, which yet again didn’t fit due to the rifle in her other hand. Jedly relaxed his little posture a little bit, the highest form of friendliness he showed strangers, not like the masked man would know that or anything.

”Sorry, hold up a moment- Um, sir! Can we get an update on the checkpoint? I’m sure it’s not long before the next wave arrives.” The squad leader nodded and began to speak over his radio. Just then, gunfire from one of the rooftops broke the short-lived leisurely mood. A Peacekeeper’s voice blared over the radio, barely audible over the hell that had broken loose. ”Rachel and I will head up top and help them out. Keep things under control down here Juno.” Jedly spoke instantaneously and departed with Rachel in lieu. The deity nodded as her friends hurried off and disappeared behind a right side building’s doors. She had full faith in their abilities to get those soldiers out alive. At least those that were still alive. ”Squad leader! Have the fireteam on the left side regroup on us! We don’t want any crossfire or unnecessary casualties!” She turned back to the masked man and brandished her sword, a spirited smile stretched widely between her cheeks, ”You ready?”

“We need to salvage what we can from Cerulean Knight’s crash. Was anybody able to identify that player, she’s definitely under the Black King’s command… Regroup and reassess our options for taking out that other dissolution. Be advised that it’s still being escorted by multiple outlaws, so prep yourselves for PvP. They can probably overwhelm us with brute force, but as long as we can go about this strategically, we can turn the tables on those boneheads. Let’s take that KS as a freebie and be glad we didn’t lose any more of our forces, yeah? I repeat, all squads, get prepped for further combat.”
After sending the message, his eyes glazed over another one he instantly received. A sign of life from his boss at least eased his subtle angst a bit.

The crackles of lightning echoed in the distance. Moon, for once, wasn’t in his chipper mood. He was hoping that the players involved in this would receive substantial EXP for their efforts, but only ended up receiving partial rewards due to that out of the blue kill steal. He turned himself around to face the other five- scratch that, six players surrounding hi-. Wait a second. Six? He was so engrossed in the message that he didn’t notice that a player, yet another newbie at that, had sneaked up behind them and offered both hands in assistance. Instinctively his five teammates leaped back and focused their rifles on the girl. He honestly couldn’t blame them for their rash reaction, considering the fact that a player had just combo-hit their opponent in one go. Anybody would be on their guard after seeing that. ”Rifles down everybody.” He ordered calmly with an outstretched hand. It was as if he controlled their guns as he lowered the appendage to his side.

Moon pushed his goggles up to his forehead and scrutinized the new arrival. How did she get here? They were essentially in the middle of deadlands. Did a developer just plop her down here as another soul to join the fight? She wasn't too tall of stature, although her character model was given some extra height due to her crimson hair. He continued to analyze the girl in a taciturn manner, until an amiable smile came into fruition. It soon became evident that she was a mage, something they desperately needed more of. Not wanting to miss on this grace, he quickly delved into a conversation. ”Alright, fine, we’re game. Name’s Paper Moon.” He politely introduced himself as he brought around his thumb and pointed it at himself. ”Call me Moon for short. Or Paper. PM, maybe? Whatever floats your beached boat, since there's no water as far as the eye can see. The girl over there who looks like she’s ready to shove her staff down somebody’s throat is Strawberry Baby.” Moon nodded his head slightly towards the mage adjacent to him, ”Don’t worry, looks are just for show~! She doesn’t bite… I think. Stick close to us. Rest of the people in this squad are in the same state of affairs as you, as in they’re all still learning. Contribute to this, and you’re guaranteed a hefty amount of EXP.”

Leviathan was probably en route as he spoke, and drew closer with every word. ”Hey, Drauni, Sky Knight, you two mind grabbing our ride? Looks like the gun fell off the gas.” The two players nodded and cautiously moved out from behind the outcrop to retrieve the APC, their lids pried open in case of any further unforeseen events. Moon covered his eyes with his hand and focused on the remaining dissolution, narrowing them against the sun. It was still in the process of carrying out its assault on the city, and chances are, it wouldn’t take action against them until a notable amount of its escorts were dispatched.

”Our squad alongside Jet Rhino’s will take care of the escorts and cover Strawberry Baby, as she is our strongest mage. While on that subject, our squad has managed to… find an additional mage, so yeah! Other squads prioritize keeping your mages out of harm’s way. Arms Slave, gather your bearings, we’ll take vanguard until you’re ready.”

Drauni and Sky Knight had a small conversation between themselves as they both leaped into the vehicle. Moon turned around to face his comrades, a blatantly obvious thrill burning vibrantly in his eyes. ”Everybody, pack your bags! We’re going on a road trip!” Moon shouted ecstatically, with both hands raised high as he jumped up into the air.

(If Alina is fine with tagging along)

”WHAT THE FUC-” Were the last valiant words of an Outlaw as he and his mount were abruptly flattened by a War Machine. The rogue winced at the bumps hitting the belly of the APC. ”Oof, sounded like that hurt. Alright, everybody out!” They decided to leave their mid-range combatants, Drauni and Sky Knight, on a dune overlooking their current position. Already the Outlaws has noticed a break in their surprisingly coordinated assault, albeit the fact that they were brutes, and were soon rerouting a handful of their numbers to deal with the new hindrance in their scheme. Bullets already peppered the transport as the five players filed out and took cover behind its armor.

”They’re a few foundations up the ways we can use as cover. We’ll push up on my mark. Jet Rhino’s squad should be here momentarily.”

Paper Moon quickly loaded in a new magazine and with the dry one still in hand, leaned over the vehicle’s side and tossed it at a rushing assailant. With the utmost accuracy, the mag hit the player smack dab in the nose. Completely stunned by this unaccounted attack, he was unknowingly on a one way ticket to the death screen via his mount. The horse sped past the APC with its rider still in a disgruntled state. The whole squad tore that sorry sap a new one. His body fell into the sand with an anticlimactic plop, he died just as pitifully as he fought.

”Okay, let’s move it!” Moon shouted as he activated FAIRY BLUE and emerged from behind the APC.

<Snipped quote by Jedly>

I think they already are. Both our posts have identified the HQ in the center at facing south, the S.E.S retreated to the HQ from the FIC, Kurai's forces dropped in the south. We established that the FIC is towards the south due to those posts. That would mean that she is fighting on the front lines of our misson, atleast i assume. If thats the case, you are going to run into her sooner or later.

Yeah, that's feasible. Although I stationed my character at the choke-point, I guess feel free to have yours do whatever? I'm not totally sure if Kurai actually intended for their character to wind up where she is/if they meant for her to be there, at the moment I'm gonna leave that up in the air until Kurai clarifies. Bots are still moving into the choke-point in waves, so it would make sense if Kurai is a few blocks down fighting possible assailants?
Hope my post sufficed at depicting Missions #1 as the staff envisioned it. Ended up only placing a couple squads of Peacekeepers, but I've got the feeling BKS will be bringing quite the force with them to hold the line.
Jedly

Location: Just arriving at FIC section(Mission #1)

”Keep shooting! Don’t let up!” The squad leader’s voice had essentially devolved into a cry at this point. Hope was fading. Fast. He felt his heart lurch as another one of the Peacekeepers under his command was mercilessly crushed under a robot’s appendage, forcing a chilling crack to be echoed throughout the street. A rocket whirled over his head and struck the KBot on its side. It staggered uncontrollably for a few moments before collapsing onto an abandoned car, the light of its “eyes” dimming until only an inanimate corpse was left. Some men under his command gagged at the exposed sight of their former comrade. How did things go to hell so quickly?

Or the better question was, why did they let things go to hell at such an alarming rate? Golden Ages were always followed by an awakening truth: that bliss only bred ignorance. And had they been naive. Whenever one bot fell, more took its place. It was crucial that they held this point, but how long would it take before they would run short on ammunition, men, and morale? All of the above were declining quicker than anticipated, and it soon became evident that the only thing choking at this choke-point was the GFS.

With every robotic step forward, valor took one step back. The maelstrom of bullets deflected off of the bots’ chassis, completely unaffected by the Peacekeepers’ efforts. The futile pings ceased their incessant plight as a flash of pink raced its way into the battlefield. Under intense scrutinization, one would realize that it was a collection of hair, carried along by a girl wearing a godly dress outfitted with plates and metal lining. Her eyes refused to waver from the imposing threat, absolutely locked onto her target. She faced a duo of normal variants making their gradual assault on the GFS forces. Before they could react, the maiden had already scaled on of their frames and sunk her blade into its head. This wasn’t enough to kill the bot, but it caused some confusion between her two adversaries.

With an iron grip around the rosy hilt, she held out a hand to the other KBot. Teal irises met mindless circles of illuminated light before a translucent heart case, already opened, manifested itself to tower over its target. The KBot's head swiveled around just fast enough to watch the case clamp down, cutting it in half. Internal circuitry sizzled as the remaining half toppled onto its still living ally, causing the other bot to lose its balance. The pink haired girl dug her blade deeper, her teeth gritted as she did so. Even though this only irritated her opponent even more, she was only to preoccupy it until she was given the signal. ”Juno!”

The GFS squad leader wheeled himself around in the direction of the voice. Jedly and Rachel both had taken a knee and rested their fingers on their triggers. Juno lifted her head to the two, taking a brief moment to confirm that they were definitely prepared. She yanked her sword out from the head and proceeded to lead it through the bot’s metallic hide, all the while splitting wiring that seemed to dictate its left side. She sped her way back towards GFS Peacekeepers, who had been facilely captivated by Juno’s charms. Two grenades exploded upon impact and finally put the bot’s suffering to an end.

Jedly and Rachel reloaded new rounds as they made their way over to their allies. The former and the squad leader stared at each other in silence, until the man broke the silence with a dexterous salute. ”You saved our lives out there. I’m really hoping you’re not passing on through.” There were little bumps in his voice, a result of watching a handful of his men fall in the line of duty. A quick glance past the Peacekeeper and Jedly could count a handful of corpses, some of which were left in an incomplete state. The man held his hand out towards the boy amiably. ”Cipher.” He curtly replied, completely forgoing any social etiquette, before passing the soldier to inspect the street, quickly followed by Juno. Rachel managed an awkward smile to help soothe the mood. ”S-sorry about that. Cipher’s not that much of a conversationalist.” Her tuned in on the conversation her two comrades were in the midst of.

”...if we get Peacekeepers set up in the balconies over there and there, they should be able to provide sufficient covering fire from multiple angles. We should distribute explosive specialists evenly, and if possible…”

Juno was quite the strategist, but that must have been a given for the arbiter of love. She also had the charms as displayed by the abrupt boost in morale after her debut. ”Anywaaaaaaaaaaays… I think they’re coming up with an idea or two. Good job holding the line until we could arrive! And don’t worry, it’s not like we’re all going to die or anything!” Rachel tried to dip some comical relief into the dreary situation while patting the squad leader on the shoulder, but it seemed that her efforts were in vain. ”Eheh… sorry, bad joke. But in all honesty, don’t let it get to you. He may not look like it, but Cipher actually cares about people… I think.” She ended up trailing off at the end there, and received a light chop to the head as a result. Through her whining Jedly delved into laying out a plan.

”We will have some more support momentarily. Until then, we're on our own. Have some of your troops get into vantage points and make shots that will actually count.” He tone grew a bit deeper with the next line, ”I don’t want any friendly fire either, got it?” They were in another wordless standoff until they all noticed a band of robotic footsteps fast approaching. Jedly looked back at the squad leader one more time before motioning for Rachel and Juno to follow him as the vanguard. As soon as the first bots rounded the street corner, Juno bolted towards them while the other two opened up on whatever they could.

A bird's eye view would depict that N variants were funneling their way into the street in great numbers than expected.

@Lucius Cypher@TheWindel@KoL

Luci and I took them to be relatively difficult enemies, since they were in the middle of the level spectrum and managed to decimate six players within the span of a few seconds. But that's not really the issue, moreso just one-shotting one of them when they were intended to pull in a collective effort to defeat.

EDIT: Post might've been a bit late, >_>
