I need to remember to get a new SSD for wilds and other stuff. NGL I'm hating the era of new games hitting +100 GB. Regardless, I'm glad that MH has blown up and no longer niche

It's gonna be gas. Can't wait to see what sort nonsense you can pull of in focus mode with the funlance and hunting horn. Also, looking forward to new monsters to skin and wear as hats.

Name/Nickname: Nian Dong
Age: 20's
Gender: Male

Political Affiliation: Neutral
Fighting Style Dog Beating Stick

It is a stick/staff oriented fighting style that can be considered one of the "actual" styles of the Beggar Sect. The Beggar's Sect being comprised of all sorts of people features a very diverse showing of styles and certain hybridization of their styles due to that. However the Dog Best Stick and some other styles are 100% homegrown within the organization. The Chief of the Beggar's Sect is an expert in this style and all future chiefs must know this style which is tied to the passing down of the chief's dog beat stick which is a simple bamboo stick with some ornamentation and a drinking gourd tied to it.

Personality: He is roguish and playful. He's more than willing to break rules such as stealing or being somewhat of a dick to others. However there is an ethical core to him instilled to him via the upbringing in the Beggar's Sect where ultimately he in his own ways is supporting others less fortunate than him as well as trying to support things to help make society more equal.

History: Nian Dong was essentially a street urchin born to peasants. He grew up aimlessly wandering around the streets stealing or begging for money and or food. Eventually he sort became fully dedicated as beggar and petty thief and overall snot nosed brat. Things would change when he try and take the Chief of the Beggar's Sect drinking gourd for some easy booze. The Chief after backhanding him was somehow amused and decided to take him and teach him a more righteous way of living on the streets. He was taught their code and eventually martial arts after showing interest and some degree of aptitude. Fast forward several years and now has grown up into handsome man skilled with a staff and who's very much active into the sect's political scene. Due to this he's been taught literacy and writing to some degree as he sort of swaps between the "dirty clothes" position who are the recognizable members as they look like the vagrants and poor to whom the name of beggar applies and that of the "plain clothes" which are non-beggar people that have infiltrated every area of society.

Inventory: Bamboo staff, drinking gourd, some stolen food, and a set of much nicer clothes he takes care to keep clean.

So let me get this straight. You want to boot what amounts to more than half of the active playerbase, with the reason being having badwrongfun together in an otherwise dry scenario that gives no incentive to do anything with the players currently nor read any damn posts outside of your own due to the solitary nature of the aforementioned scenario. Just cuz one guy is desperate to be a GM and is doing constant concern whining.

That's dumb and counterproductive.
Well, you guys remember that the actual part of the forging process is gonna be handwaved for the benefit of those who don't know much metallurgy, thus it's wrote obvious that a blacksmithing school will have forged for general use (maybe even individual ones for the top students /groups), it's one of those things you can just assume that you will have access to from the very premise.

Why are you so adamant about minutiae in regards to the smithing posts when earlier you repeated the GM's declaration that this sort of minutiae involving the crafting process is to be handwaved for the benefit of the people who aren't educated in how the process works? Dude I think you're taking the competitive aspect of this game too seriously. We're only pretending to compete and with the lack of any real imput into the process for player skill and the handwavey nature of the process makes it just pointless to treat it seriously. The only tangible thing the players have is the post and time limit. Everything else is just pure fiat essentially.

Also as an aside regarding the quibble over the setting. Is it medieval? I thought the gm said it was industrial revolution which mixed with magical stuff like turning monster bones and spleens into functional weapons, and with that in the setting it's not that big of a stretch to have things like bottlecaps or coolers existing. I mean if people from thousands of years ago living in the desert in our world can make a system for ice transportation, then shoving something like a chunk of ice into a box seems pretty low key. But honestly it's that important for me arguing over whether these background props exist or not.
