Section #1: Jig Being Right

It has come to my attention, that I am primarily right and drunk.

Jig is completely right.

Jig is right.

[11.01.50] Gowi:

Jig is right. Feel free to send that along.

[Jig is] 100% correct.

Jig was right 8 months ago, and is still right.

I love you, Jig. It's because you're Always Right™.

Once again, Jig is absolutely right about this.

Where is Jig when I need to vent about politics?
Drunk.

The mighty Jig is of course right.

Murder

A dilapidated theatre in downtown New York, 1923. A man lies on the stage; a bullet has punched a hole right through his head. From your seat, you meet the eyes of the other five in the auditorium. They're all alive, staring at you, staring back. You don't need to be able to read minds to know that most of them are thinking "Who killed Mr. Jig?". But if you could read minds, you'd know one of them is thinking
"It was me."

Premise

  • Murder Mystery
  • 1920's New York
  • One of you did it
  • Interaction-driven
  • Secrecy, shenanigans, and slaughter

Welcome to Wink Murder. You have a dirty little secret - and a man you have never met, calling himself Mr. Jig, somehow knows - and is blackmailing you. You have been summoned by him to a theatre in New York for reasons unknown. At least one of you has come with the intention of killing him to keep your secret, whatever it is, safe. You find yourselves locked in a theatre with strangers, one of whom you know, when Mr. Jig winds up dead, must be a murderer.

You the players will be completely in the dark throughout this. You don't know who the murderer is. Character sheets won't be published. Everything you and your characters know will be events and details you will experience and discover for yourselves. If you're lucky, you may survive - but everything is down to you.

How It Works

I'll accept a limited number of players onto this; probably six in total. Each of you will PM me a character sheet, including the reason your character is being blackmailed and a damning piece of evidence, and whether or not you would like to be the murderer. Among the candidates for murderer, I will choose one at random.

Your goal is to work out who the murderer is; that way, you can guarantee, maybe, getting out alive without being arrested. The murderer's goal is for themselves to decide. If you wish to do something in secret, PM me. Since I am non-partisan, I can give other players the relevant information without revealing that you are behind it. Although I won't write much in the IC, I'll be giving you secret information and clues that you may spot for your own use in the IC, mostly by PM.

Ultimately, I won't interfere. I will help guide you to create characters that will work for the setting, but, from there, my intervention will strictly be to keep the plot ticking over and to give you information only I know. I won't ever tell you what to do; that is for you and your character to decide. Every so often, there might be a 'Game Event' that will shake things up a little bit and influence the plot, but, otherwise, you have absolute freedom. Or, in other words, you're totally on your own.

The Players

  • High casual writing. I expect accurate usage of spelling, punctuation, and grammar as a minimum. I'm not fussed about length, but quality is a must.
  • Open-minded. This may be a new type of game for you and you may die before the end and I really encourage the use of collaborative posts.
  • Secretive. If it's not established in the IC, it's a secret.
  • Reliable. RL comes first, but I expect to be kept in the loop if you're going to experience downtime.
  • Commitment. There is a limited cast and setting to this, so if you drop out, you could quite easily ruin the game for everybody.
  • Trust. I (mostly) know what I'm doing, even if it doesn't seem like it.

Interest?

I certainly hope so. If you want in on this crazy ride, show this thread some love, and hopefully we'll get an OoC shortly. As a nice treat for you, click on the image at the top for a bangin' tune.
Well, since you useless shower didn't come forward but I still think Wink Murder deserves another go, I'm going it alone.

If you feel like making my life hell on two fronts, here's the link. Thread features a 100% sexier Mr. Jig character and a bangin' tune.

If you're an eager beaver and fancy brainstorming a character already, just remember the era is 1920's and focus on your dastardly secret that Mr. Jig has found out. A proper sheet will come when we hit OoC. Don't post them in here or anywhere else!
<Snipped quote by Jig>

Confirmed. Jig is an ass and would not allow someone in an RP if Jig did not believe them worthy.

This... is not what I was getting at.
In my first job, I basically answered the phones and doors. That was it.

I built an Excell spreadsheet to do pretty much literally anything on the computer that I had to do on there automatically with just a basic figure input and spent the rest of my day googling and sending round daft emails and passing on messages with personalised doodles.

You know you sent that email to everybody, including the directors?
Jig's Supervisor

I've had twenty-six responses to this cheeky Haiku about the company's software from in-house staff saying that they enjoyed it and found it funny and at least twenty-six of the director's employees are now slightly happier humans than they were before. I'm happy to be challenged on this.
Jig

Needless to say, when they basically shifted all the duties I was doing (well - I'm a good people person when I want to be) to the boss's daughter in order to let me go to save money, I shuffled files around and broke my own spreadsheet so at least she could do some work.
then don't try it.

That seems a shame. If somebody's a bit of a newb but willing to learn (and seems to have a reasonable chance of attaining a given game's higher standard), I don't feel that they should be discouraged.

Big rule: Don't try and get shit under my radar. If I catch you doing it, you're done. Mainly because I know how things generally should work, and I hate it when people try and circumvent things with loopholes and stuff. You get the general idea, don't try and be the guy that gets it, and tries to get around it, or bring it up to show that.. 'I know ways around this.'

I put these in the category of 'uncooperative'; players who seek to do what they want to do in spite of everybody else. I'm reminded of my unwritten rule that if somebody wants to challenge something in terms of content, they're more than welcome to put forward their case, but if I, as GM, say No, I expect that decision to be accepted and respected.

doing personal stuff on the company's pcs is a tetch frowned upon.

Tell that to Kirah. :P
It isn't a bad idea to ask somebody who is picking up an awkward character to thing about what they are doing.

It's not, but, if I'm convinced they... aren't the sort of person to think about what they're doing, then I don't think they're the right player for my game anyway. If somebody is going to pitch an awkward character, I kinda expect them to qualify them with a 'would this sort of thing work?', rather than just assuming that whatever curveball they've thrown me is definitely cool on its own terms.
@Jig What is this Wink Murder you speak of?

Similar to this, except one of the players done it.
Except I badly planned it, there was no guidance, and one of the players almost instantly bailed and then I got busy, so I quietly took it out the back and put a bullet in its head.
I just feel incredibly worthless and want to sit and cry and disappear and wonder just how I was so angsty and cringe worthy and how you people even stand me.

All I have to say on the matter:

If I thought any one of you didn't deserve to be here, you wouldn't be here.

@TheMaster99 and @kirah will confirm.
