Nah, I had other plans.
For those that know a bit of Shaddoll lore, then you know the puppet master is El Shaddoll Construct. That monster controls all other Shaddoll monsters. I was thinking the spirit of Construct was channeled through the deck and it's trying to find an appropriate host. When a duelist fights the deck and just barely loses to it, especially if that duelist uses some form of special summoning, Construct sees them as better then it's current host and take over.
Duelist who are defeated without much effort get turned into Construct's servants. Kinda like the duel ghouls from GX.

He could tell she was a bit upset since he knew her by extension of his knowing Brent. Stopping by one of the vending machines to grab her favorite snack he walked over and held out his hand and the treat to her" You look like you've had a rough time. Care to talk about it?"

She knew of the family but she had never actually met any of them, even at the banquets her parents had occasionally forced her into attending. I'm sure your family knows mine. We might even handle your family's finances... truthfully I don't care about any of that though. Why should family matter in here? Everyone is equal right?"

Joshua meanwhile had to use a CoD to save himself, Amaya, and Belle from being fried by the flames, trusting Reno to have some ability to get out alive on his own.

Amelia didn't initially look over at Amaya when she entered the room, as she was too focused on other things. She only registered the other girl's prescense after Amaya addressed her, by congratulating her on her win against Brent the day before. Amelia looked a little irked at the mention of that match, since it had done nothing but brought her trouble but she let it go and shrugged.
"I only won because of pure dumb luck. The action cards favored me. Next time they might not." Amelia said, shrugging before looking up at Amaya curiously" Who are you? I don't think I've seen you before... then again I've only been here one day."
