The crew, how well do they know one another? Do we start first meeting or have we already met?

The crew members have already met, but their m they're only started sailing with each other.

---edit
For now, yes, our characters do not have access to haki

Bad wording I suppose. It's a Logia-Type Fruit that grants its user the properties of a Gecko.

Oh! I see. I think you meant Zoan, because those are the ones for transforming into creatures. Logia type devil fruits grant the users control over elements and the ability to transform into said element. ^_^'
So if no one objects, I'll be creating a Gecko Logia-Type Devil Fruit user. Unsure of the position, possibly First Mate if no one else beats me to the punch.

Gecko logia?

The OOC is up. I did this in a bit of a hurry because the day caught me off guard and the weekend doesn't look promising for typing out an ooc so if anyone has any concerns, ideas, or suggestions please feel free to let me know.

One Piece: into the Horizon
Intro
Once there was a man named Palladium D. Platinum, Lord of the lawless. This man enjoyed notoriety, riches and supremacy beyond even the most creative mind's wildest dreams. The final words of this great man, before his head was cleaved from his body was "Everything I have is yours for the taking. You merely need to find it. All I have I leave in a single place." Thus pirates from all over the world set sail for the grand line. Thus began the golden age of pirates.

Overview
Hello and welcome to One Piece: Into the Horizon. This is a One Piece rp where our characters will take the place of starry eyed rookies, with the goal of becoming the best in the world.

The Rules and expectations
1. Follow the sites rules.
2. I reserve to the right to add or edit rules as I see fit.
3. The GM(myself), followed by any co-Gms have final say over a situation.
4. Be nice. There are always going to be disagreements in an rp, but that doesn't mean name calling or verbal abuse will be tolerated.
5. Casual standards, meaning posts should be no less than two paragraphs long and the grammar should be good enough that anyone can understand what's been said with a minimum of effort ie if a post takes somebody five rereads to figure out what's being said then it doesn't reach casual standards.
6. With the exception of Gm and/ or co-GMs everyone will be allowed a single character
7. No speed posting
8. Everyone needs to post at least once every week(seven days) If you cannot post then please get in contact with someone in charge so your character can be taken over by someone else or moved to aside until your return. Failure to post in seven days and get into contact with someone will result in your character's death. Also, I'm well aware that sometimes this is difficult because a rp is a group effort so being able to reply, due to others, will be taken into account.
9.

10. with the exception of those who've already expressed interest In this, The rp is first come first serve. In the beginning there will be six spaces available, but more may open up as time goes by.
11. Optional: If possible, I would like the players of this rp to take turns leading various story arcs as it will give everyone's character a time to shine, as well as give the GM a bit more time to come up with the various areas islands and character's we'll meet on our journey. If interested in running an arc, or even if you junk think you've got an idea with possibility, pm me so we can start discussing the idea.

Understandable. If an RP were to take on device in which the players take the place if the Straw Hats, one of a few things would have to be considered.

One: Numbers. Currently there are 9 crew-members officially part of the Straw Hat crew. This number in relation to the number of player-characters needs to remain proportionate unless people start to create characters who have no real use to the crew. A possible solution, create characters who are younger and are considered beginners who play the part of traditional Powder-monkeys.

Two: Villains. Arcs will no doubt come with villains, whether it be the Marines or other Pirate crews. But the job in RP's like these usually fall on the shoulders of the GM and his/her Co.GM's. Unless the GM's are capable of keeping up with the flow of the story, RP's like these tend to die. This is just an observation of mine, although this is the case for most RP's of similar countenance.

Just some point in want to bring out for one of the other potential plots.

Edit: Looks like you have the Numbers think down. Nevermind then.

1. This may become a problem later on, but for now the crew will probably start at around 5 or 6 characters and when we start getting up their in numbers, I'm sure people will either be able to come up with new roles to fill, or maybe the roles will start getting into more specific areas like instead of another cook, we'll find ourselves a member who specializes in a specific type of cuisine.

2. Keeping up with a continuous story is definitely a problem, but hopefully with the time bought with the various arcs other players will come up with, I'll be able to keep the stories coming.

@Archmage MC@Ryteb Pymeroce@Rin

I'm working on the CS as we speak. There's just a few things I need to clear up
1. Do our characters know each other already?
2. How long after the driving factor (Gol D. Roger's execution in the main series) should the story start?
3. Is there anything else we need to discuss?

@Archmage MC@LokiLeo789

I agree with archmage. I've been in a few one piece roleplay were it was tried and those rps have always died really quickly. Now, maybe sometime down the line when the rp has some momentum behind it, multiple sides could work(like a special group of marines is dispatched to chase down the main pirates because of how much trouble they're causing) but I don't think it would work in the beginning of this rp.
@Ryteb Pymeroce
One for the classic pirate's tale :P

@Rin
Smaller group it is. I guess we'll be starting with five or six people, depending on how much interests there is by the time the OOC gets set up.
---
A weapon 'fed' a the human-human fruit would be interesting. It would be hilarious if you decided to make it a bladed weapon whose personality is that of a pacifist.

@Archmage MC
We'll probably being doing the classic Straw Hat's route since there's only been a single vote and that was for the pirate's classic XD

@LokiLeo789
Hi Lokileo, welcome to the One Piece roleplay!

@Ryteb Pymeroce
I lack the experience, but I'm willing to give it a go.

@Archmage MC
I'm okay with pulling plot points out of my......... out of the air, but I tend to lose track of the over all design of the story.

@Rin
Haha! Don't feel bad. I love the One Piece universe and do lots of research on it, but I'm probably further back on the series than anyone else.

Alrighty then, So If its alright with everyone else, I'll give GMing this a go.(?)

IF so, I have some questions:
1. Is there any sort of consensus of what we want the story to be? Some choices are:
A. The classic scenario were our crew basically takes the place of the Straw Hats to go to the grand line.
B. Playing a group of marines
C. A group of bounty hunters
D. Members of the revolution (I've got an idea for this that involves our group in a special program which has various revolutionaries causing trouble for the world government under the guise of everyday pirates trying to make it big)
2. How does everyone feel about taking turns designing overall story arcs? I'd still be GMing, but would work with whoevers turn it is to lead the arc. This way everyone's character's history could be given a time to shine as well as allow the GM a chance to focus on creating future story arcs.
3. HOw many people should we have in the rp? Personally, I think we've got enough to start off with for now and could gather more as we go along.
