Warm tan skin, bright blue eyes, and thick dark hair that rarely cooperates soften an otherwise imposing frame. He keeps a short beard that lives somewhere between intentional maintenance and “good enough.” His clothing leans toward functional comfort: athletic wear, rolled sleeves, weathered casual clothes, things that won't complain about sweat, sand, rain, or accidental battle damage.

Defensive fundamentals. Trainer-Pokémon coordination. Growing up there meant helping maintain training spaces, joining drills early, and learning quickly that improvement rarely arrives wrapped in dramatic speeches.

His first partner, a rare **shiny Eevee** that would later evolve into Umbreon, became part of daily life long before either of them noticed.

The rest of his team developed less through deliberate collection and more through life colliding with opportunity.

Battle Philosophy

Kaius favors adaptable, fundamentals-driven battling built around conditioning, positioning, and trust between trainer and Pokémon.

He prefers active trainer involvement and teams capable of supporting one another dynamically rather than functioning as isolated specialists. His battles lean toward layered pressure, defensive discipline, mobility, and creating openings through timing, repetition, and communication.

Kaius trains *with* his Pokémon rather than simply directing them, and that philosophy shows in battle. His teams often display strong synchronization, coordinated positioning, and a willingness to adapt plans mid-fight rather than rigidly forcing a preferred strategy.

He rarely trusts narrow gimmicks.

If a strategy only functions under perfect conditions, Kaius generally doesn't trust it.

Daily Life / Miscellaneous Notes

• Early riser. Usually awake well before sunrise, whether training requires it or not.
• Runs, conditions, spars, or trains daily even during off-days. "Rest day" generally means lighter work, not no work.
• Regularly trains with his Pokémon rather than assigning drills from the sidelines. Conditioning sessions, footwork work, endurance circuits, and partner exercises are common parts of Team Breakwater's routine.
• Helps maintain equipment, battle spaces, and training grounds out of habit. Straightening mats, cleaning gear, repairing worn training equipment, and reorganizing storage tend to happen almost automatically.
• Surprisingly good with nervous Pokémon, inexperienced trainers, and people who need encouragement delivered without pressure.
• Cooks reasonably well through necessity rather than passion. Human meals usually fall somewhere within the sacred tradition of "boy chow": hearty, functional, filling, and aesthetically negotiable. Kaius occasionally calls them *Cipher*.

Abra occasionally acknowledges this.

No reliable pattern has yet been identified.

Abra resists conventional pressure surprisingly well but responds far better to patience, trust, and being allowed room to engage on their own terms. Their relationship with Rook remains a continual source of confusion for at least one of them, largely because Rook believes schedules are a universal law while Abra continues gathering evidence to the contrary.

Remy was already out and about. They had the kids get up early at the camp whether they liked it or not. Early by a normal kid's standards anyway. Meanwhile Remy had habitually crawled out of bed before the sun that morning, paying no mind to the other kids who had largely still been passed out in their beds, and found himself sitting in an all but empty dining hall... with no food to eat.

He'd been forced to sit there for over an hour before the food was ready, and by then a few other kids had started trickling in so he hadn't even been able to eat in silence the whole time. At least one of the camp staff had been nice enough to bring him some water while he waited. He hadn't had that problem the first two days. He'd been too out of his element and had slept horribly. Ironically, it seemed that the more he adjusted the less he fit in.

At least he'd been the first one done eating and thus had a bit of time to himself to mentally prepare for the rest of the day. After only a few minutes of sitting in the grass absorbing sunlight like the human weed he was, he'd found himself practically vibrating. At home, he'd have been long at work by now doing something. One almost decent night of sleep and suddenly he found himself unable to just sit still.

"What... are you doing?"

"Push-ups."

"Weirdo."

Weird or not, it helped pass the time feeling like he was doing something. It wasn't exactly all that stimulating of an activity, though. Should he try running next?

For better or worse, "next" didn't end up mattering. He was told it was time for crafts, their first activity of the day. And so Remy, now in contention for the sweatiest kid at camp that morning, headed off. It was better than running circles around the camp. Or at least it probably wouldn't be worse.

So I have two sticking points on my CS I want to iron out before I post.

1. The secret fear. If anyone has thoughts or advice that could help me come up with an idea, that'd be appreciated. I'm just straight up drawing a blank there for some reason. I think I just don't have enough of a feel for my character yet.

2. The gameboy. The original gameboy was 1989, so obviously that's not an issue, but I wonder if it isn't too silly/pointless. Also, might be too out of place for someone to have at a camp. Might even be something the camp would have discouraged and, unlike the knife, I wouldn't want to say "oh, oops, it got packed on accident."

Nickname (which only your closest friends call you, and you maybe hate it): Horse Girl (He has longish hair and likes horses. Apparently this is not considered by some to not be very masculine.)

Siblings? One little sister. Esmée. She stayed home.
Family Life? Farm boy. Raised on a small, hobbyist farm. As far a business went, the most they did was offer horse riding lessons to the locals. Remy ended up getting along with animals more than people, so now he's at camp to force him to have a social life.

Size: Smaller than some, bigger than most.
Weapon: A slightly dull camp knife
What does your character 'bring to the table?' Big and strong, for his age, and with an almost encyclopedic knowledge of animals. Not terrible with plants either, but they aren't as cuddly. His specialty, though, is of course horses should that ever come up. Regardless, working on a farm builds strength and endurance and his parents never let him skip a day.
