No offense intended. But there's a sweet spot on the sliding scale of realism, and most of the interest checks I usually see skew too far to the realism end for me.

Can't describe how quickly I go from excited to sad when a mecha premise turns out to be realism wankery.
Actually, can we take a second to realize how hilarious it is that the guy who by his own admission wields a junkyard scrap weapon, wears a coat often described as "ratty", and hasn't really had friends for years even can be construed as a playboy?
I actually thought about how it might work to do the canon theming here, and it's take a lot of work. The actual series had the benefit of being able to map them out beforehand, where we'd need to put together halfway decent names from the first initials of names that weren't designed for such.
...
Okay, if we're bringing Kamen Rider themes in, I think we should names teams things like "Team Cyclone", "Team Joker", "Team Trigger", et cetera. :P
I personally would vote for teams of four. Last I checked, we had the proper number of people for it to work out evenly. I think four people is a nice balance, as it basically ensures that about four people will always have an excuse to interact, and offers diversity in that interaction as well. On the other hand, having teams of only two means that we'd likely end up with a lot of back and forth, and if one player can't log on for a while, their partner is up the creek without a paddle.
As for naming themes... Legendary beasts could be cool. Maybe named deities from Greek mythology or some such? I'd say chess motifs, because I really like chess motifs, but they don't work that well for team names. "Team Knight" or "Team Queen" doesn't really sound right, y'know?
Because I'm curious, and I apologize because I'm sure answering these questions is a pain XD, have you thought about how teams are likely to be decided?
Reading back I didn't phrase that very well, but it was the jock who went around the corner. Alistair just breathed a sigh of relief when the jock left.
I can definitely see where the confusion would have arisen, though.
As a side note; Reaper, Alistair didn't go anywhere. He couldn't if he wanted to, he has someone new asking him what's up every time he turns around. :P
