She's not sure Charles will go for it, but given the right scenario, she might not have to. ◼ X-Men Charles Xavier's central mutant counterterrorist response team. Lorna served as a member between 2017 and 2022. Technically still pinned as a "reserve member" Lorna knows when she's been replaced, hard not to when there's a literal teenager taking her spot now. - Allies - A L L I E S ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ◼ Banshee (Sean Cassidy) TBD ◼ Beast (Hank McCoy) Lorna and Beast have had their misgivings, though she still respects Hank as he has taught her a lot in the past. His pragmatic intellectual side is often paired with a warm cheerfulness that Lorna finds helpful and she considers him a part of the family she really never had. ◼ Cyclops (Scott Summers) Given how close Scott’s brother and Lorna were before he switched sides, there was always bound to be some kind of relationship between Lorna and Scott. Lorna blamed herself for not being able to stop Alex and Scott made sure she didn’t blame herself for long. Ever the optimist, but sometimes a little naive and stubborn, Scott is one of the people from the team that Lorna still could consider a close friend. ◼ Havok (Alexander Summers) Probably the person barring her father that Lorna has been close to in her life. Unfortunately, he's serving out his sentence in The Raft. ◼ Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) Lorna’s Best Friend. The first one to welcome her to the team and the only one who never gave up trying to reach her when she was on the other side. In many ways she’s like an older sister (not that much older though!) and is probably the person Lorna talks to the most even with her removal from the team. She is concerned about Lorna’s obvious bitterness, though. ◼ Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner) TBD ◼ Professor X (Charles Xavier) Professor Charles Xavier. The world’s leading expert on the X-Gene and founder of the X-Men. Lorna hates him; admires him; respects him. She isn’t sure if he’s a master manipulator or not, but her relationship with Xavier… is always strained, especially when you consider Lorna’s perspective. She’ll listen to him, but there are limits. ◼ Sunfire (Shiro Yoshida) TBD - Enemies - E N E M I E S ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ◼ Magneto (Erik Lehnsherr) Dad. It's complicated. - T I M E L I N E T I M E L I N E _________________________________________________________ [+] - T I M E L I N E ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ◼ 2014 Erik Lehnsherr intervenes in an incident that manifests Lorna's x-gene. He tells her he is the father she has not seen in years. It starts off their rocky relationship, but she agrees to go with him. ◼ 2017 Charles Xavier convinces her she is the only one who could bring her father down to earth and stop innocent lives from being taken. She is conflicted, but eventually this escalates into a standoff with her father and she joins the X-Men. ◼ 2018 M-Day Occurs. Her father reminds her he has more control over his mutant abilities than she does. Havok, who had fostered a relationship with her, snaps and stops her father from enacting his plans. The remaining Acolytes are imprisoned at The Raft. ◼ 2022 Xavier removes Polaris from the X-Men team, claiming she needs to lead the younger students as well as take a break. She takes this poorly, but remains at the school. -

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T ________________________________________________________________________________________ Once upon a time, Cassandra Eleanor "Cassie" Lang was an average kid living with an average family within the city of New York, New York. Her father, Scott Lang, was an electronics technician, while her mother, Peggy Rae, was a stay-at-home mom watching over Cassie. All in all, life seemed to be going well for the Langs, or at least as in so far Cassie had cared as a kid unconcerned with bills, taxes, and other such adult things. Unbeknownst to Cassie, however, there had been trouble afoot for the Lang household. Although her father had made decent money, he would fall into money problems, and was forced to turn to burglary to ensure his wife and daughter continued to have a good life. For awhile, these criminal acts had worked, but Scott was inevitably caught and later sentenced to prison for his actions. This sentencing, in turn, tore the Lang family apart, with Cassie's mother divorcing her father while he was incarnated. While her father was in prison, Scott had chosen to further his electrician studies, which ultimately proved useful in landing him a comfortable job at the world-renowned Stark Industries after he was released for good behavior. Although her father had been an ex-con, Cassie's mother realized that Scott, as a Stark employee, would be able to provide a better life for their daughter, and allowed him custody of Cassie from there on out. With her father working at Stark Industries, Cassie soon found out that she would have a more eventful life than most kids did growing up. At Stark, she was able to meet many of the world's heroes or other important names, such as Mr. Stark himself (who she affectionally called "Uncle Tony") or even Iron Man. Such meetings had often left Cassie dreaming of being a superhero herself, wanting to take on the baddies of the world with the best of them. Unfortunately, her dreams of being a superhero would be cut short when she suddenly collapsed one day with a serious heart congenital heart condition. With Cassie being in and out of the hospital, her father was unable to keep up with the bills once more, and was forced to return to thievery in hopes of hiring the legendary Dr. Sondheim, the only doctor capable of helping his daughter's condition. Breaking into the home of Henry "Hank" Pym, Scott would set forth a series of events that still resonate today by stealing the Ant-Man costume and rescuing Dr. Sondheim from the clutches of Darren Cross and his company, Cross Technological Enterprises. Her freedom now gained, Dr. Sondheim was able to successfully operate on Cassie, in turn saving her life. Meanwhile, her father, was allowed to keep the Ant-Man costume by a Yellowjacket-dressed Pym, knowing that the world still needed an Ant-Man and that Scott would be the one to put it to good use. And Scott did, moonlighting as the new Ant-Man while he continued to work at Stark Industries to provide a living for him and his daughter. Cassie had always secretly suspected that her father was Ant-Man, and eventually her suspicions were confirmed after some years. He was her own personal superhero dad, which she had thought was both pretty cool and badass. Life, however, thought otherwise when Scott would be slain under "mysterious circumstances", leaving Cassie in the care of her mother and new stepfather that seemed to despise superheroes, but also the very father Cassie had always looked up to—her father. Angry at the disrespect they had shown towards her father's heroics but also his memory, Cassie had chosen to run away from home to where her father had been killed. In the midst of crying her heart out, it was then when Cassie noticed something peculiar hidden away in the uncleared rubble—her father's Ant-Man equipment. Taking the gear in her hands, she suddenly had an idea; a very stupid one at that. She'd follow in her father's footsteps. She'd become a hero like her father, and bring justice to his killer. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) ________________________________________________________________________________________ Consider this a newbie's first attempt at writing a canon character. This version of Cassie that I'm writing will be more centered around her comic counterpart, although with some changes and tweaks of my own. Most of her background is the same as it is in the comics, but this version will be skipping things like her dad becoming an Avenger and leaving other important events like Scott's death "unknown" to better fit the combined timeline (unless, of course, we do have someone wanting to play Ant-Man). Obviously, I want to write Cassie coming into her own as a superhero with how I've set her story up, which is similar to her own story in the comics. If there an Iron Man player or some other mentor type character from her past that I can bounce off for ideas, then that'd be great. Encouraging Cassie, telling her she is in over her head, etc. The ideas out there are endless, obviously.

Are People Actually RPing on Discord Now?

I can't say as to whether or not people have been trading forum RP for discord RP, but discord RP isn't something "new" to the scene. It has always been a thing. Hell, I've done a bunch of RPs on discord in the past. It's no different than RPing on skype/*insert instant messenger app here* like people had done back then.

"C'mon, Princess, just give us the address. We can show your old classmates how to have a fun time."

"Something tells me that they wouldn't appreciate you guys trashing their place, even if we could put it back together all over again." Priscilla smiled to herself, answering to a voice that echoed from within her truck speakers. "Besides, the last time you all tried raising hell, Mattison had you mopping outside in a rainstorm."

"Look, the extinguisher went off by itself, okay? We're innocent."

It had been a couple days since Priscilla's former comrades had learned about her reunion, and throughout those few days her fellow Seabees had been trying to talk her into allowing them to crash it. They had long known that Priscilla previously attended King's Academy, where plenty famous celebrities had also gone to school—Charlotte Hayes, Derex Steiner, to name just a few. Although Priscilla had tried to explain that she hadn't spoken to many of them since then, her battle-buddies were like lions to an antelope, eager to leap at their chance at meeting the celebrities Priscilla had the pleasure of growing up with.

And in this case, the reunion onboard the Thousand Sunny was the antelope.

Glancing at the console screen, Priscilla noticed the clock in the upper right shift to 19:30. "Anyway, I need to get going. I'll make sure to get you guys an autograph or something. Depends on who shows up."

"Alright, alright. Keep us in touch."

"You know it."

With a press of the "end call" button, Priscilla climbed out of her roughened F-150, and reached into the truck bed for a rucksack carrying her essentials. Clothing, a spare phone charger, etc. Each item was neatly arranged in the rucksack, a byproduct of her military training. Even now, Priscilla struggled to shake off old routine, having previously bloused her pants military-style above her steel-toed boots prior. Apparently, while you could leave the military, the military never leaves you, she had come to find out.

As the Thousand Sunny blew loudly on the ship horn, Priscilla slung the pack over her shoulder and began walking over towards where the yacht had been docked. Time to meet some old friends, and more than likely answer quite a few questions as to where she had been, Priscilla could only figure.

Aug 27th -> Sep 2nd QOTW: Who is your favorite superhero, and why?

To answer my own question, I would probably have to say either Kitty Pryde (X-Men) or someone from the Ant-Man crew (Ant-Man, Wasp, Stature, etc.).

I've always been a fan of the X-Men; mutant powers are always cool to explore. As for Kitty in particular, I find phasing a pretty neat power to have. Plus, she's from my home state and gets to run around with a literal dragon (Lockheed) later on sometimes, so that's also a huge bonus in my opinion. As for the Ant-Man crew, the whole controlling ants, size manipulation, bug-based powers, etc. stuff is incredibly interesting to me. Not really too much of a Hank Pym fan (though it depends on the presentation/version). More of a Scott/Cassie fan, given their character backgrounds and general dialogue between one and another.

Given the current state of both the roleplay and off-topic sections on RoleplayerGuild, I wanted to try doing something to hopefully breathe some life back into the site. While we've had video game, movie/tv, etc. type threads in the past, this time around I wanted to try something different by making a thread to discuss comic-related media. Back in the day we used to have a few large canon character Marvel/DC (or combined) universe RPs on the forum, so if those people are still around, then I'm certain this won't die immediately like everything else in the discussion sections.

It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned veteran to comic media or a total newbie. It doesn't matter if you've only read the printed source material or you've only seen the movies/shows. If you want to talk here and discuss comics, feel free to hop in and post here. There will be an attempt made to keep up with a "question of the week" sort of thing to hopefully facilitate some kind of discussion within this thread, so if that is something that interests you, please read below for it.

• Summary: Priscilla, or more commonly Pris, is someone who has gone against the grain. Despite coming from a wealthy, established family, Priscilla has always preferred the humble hands-on approach that some would consider "beneath their status".

• Family: The Okamoto family had immigrated from Japan to Palm Beach, Florida in the latter half of the 20th century as part of corporate restructuring. Katsumi Okamoto, then patriarch of the Okamoto family and Priscilla's great-grandfather, had been employed under one of Japan's many technological firms and was assigned to oversee the firm's southern US operations. Although most of the Okamoto family still resides in Japan, this immigration would lead to the formation of an American Okamoto branch, of which Priscilla is a part of.

• High School Experience: Priscilla was the neighborhood handyman, seemingly always fidgeting without some kind of tool in her hands. While she wasn't an athlete or the like, Priscilla was still relatively well-known for helping out where she could. Whether it be helping the theater kids build the stage or assisting someone who had never before seen a tire iron in their life with changing a tire, she had a knack for popping up whenever anyone needed hands-on help until her sudden post-graduation disappearance.

• Life Leading Up To Reunion: Desiring more in life, Priscilla had passed on college and instead found her calling in the military. Going through A-School and ECS following high school, Priscilla took on the role of a Seabee, being forward deployed as part of a NMCB now and then to assist in some sort of civic action somewhere in the world. This would continue for the next five years until the terms of her initial enlistment was over, where Priscilla took some time off despite her CO trying to get her to re-enlist. However, no one can't relax forever, so with the help of some old comrades, Priscilla found herself a cushy job at a big-name construction company in Florida where she currently helps supervise construction sites.
