Wanna join a slow-burn, mature horror mystery that definitely doesn't involve Lovecraftian elements? Check out Blackharbour; slots are still available~

Hi. There is now a major slot available in Blackharbour. Look it up if you're looking for a dark, horror-themed roleplay that may involve Eldritch Beings and may also not.

Bio

You can call me Kuro.
I play basically anyone and anything, whether we're talking about gender, morality, protagonist or villain. If you need someone to fill a slot in your roleplay, hit me up and I'll throw together something fun.
The Eldritch Being in my skull won't leave me alone unless I act like a walking meme.

Active Bamboozles
+ Blackharbour, an 18+, mature horror roleplay based in a portside town. Definitely doesn't involve any spoopy Cthulhu cultists.
I'm actually not joking, it doesn't!
+ The Pale Hand, the story of a young Exorcist faced with a seemingly insurmountable challenge. 1x1 between myself and A Lowly Wretch.

Planned Bamboozles
+ Untitled Fate Roleplay because why the fuck not everyone here seems to love these fuckin' things (including me, help)
+ The Puppeteer's Melancholy (or smth like that) probably a sappy 1x1 because it gives off that kind of feeling in my head

Waiting on character sheets still.
I've received a few, but the majority are yet to be sent through.

If anyone wants to PM me their Discord accounts, or leave 'em here, I'll throw up a Discord group.
I would put a link, but making a Discord account just to make a group, only to have nobody actually show up seems like a waste of time on my part. I'd like a few more people to put their names down first.
Dragonheart

- The Old Woods -

Everything she said registered in his head, but he felt no real need to respond; she was carrying the conversation with herself wonderfully. Though, when the Caster asked his name, he nodded in confirmation. It seemed that heading to Riventor was their best bet, though he couldn't help but feel as if it was a bad idea.

The snapping of twigs brought his mind back to the moment, and before he'd even registered what that sound actually was, he'd extended his hand out towards his weapon and brought it flying back into his grip. He narrowed his eyes, watching as the massive, predatory.. thing moved into sight. He crouched down a little, readying himself for battle, but that decision, too, was made for him.

"Aren't you supposed to be a Caster?!" he hissed at his companion. With one hand, he held her, and with the other, he readied his sword. Wolves can't generally can't climb trees, but in this place it seemed more likely that the thing would just break the tree down in order to get to them instead of climbing it. He bit his lip, weighing up the odds;

A Vanguard who, theoretically, could kill this thing on his own, but who knows what kind of mutations it might undergo? It could turn the tables at the last second, and then that'd get the two of them possibly killed. His partner was injured, and her heart obviously wasn't in the fight.
Plus, he'd find it hard to evade the creature's attacks with Will-O-Wisp clinging to him like she was. Narrowing his eyes in more than a little annoyance, he made the decision-
He who something something runs away, will live to fight another day" after all.

So he turned and bolted through the trees with his cargo firmly pressed against his chest. He knew she wouldn't fall off of him- her tail secured her well. Anything in the way was promptly sliced apart by the Fangs of the Pit, letting him and his companion maneuver surprisingly nimbly through the trees. He wasn't at all sure of how close the monstrous 'wolf' was, though, so he had to make a plan..

And he did.
"Close your eyes and brace yourself. We're going up."
Moments after saying this, he tossed his Fangs of the Pit into the trunk of a nearby tree, leaped up onto it, and bounced up into the branches. This was a particularly thick tree, in fact, it was one of the only ones he'd seen that he was somewhat sure that the wolf-thing couldn't climb up after them.
Once up there, he waited to see what the thing would do- had they lost it? Was it able to climb? Would it try to knock the tree down?
With his 'baggage' secured, he watched and waited. His weapon was already back in his hand; if that thing had grabbed it..
No thanks, bro.

So he waited, poised to throw his weapon at the wolf-thing if he had to, but also ready to leap to a nearby tree as well. The benefit of having such a dense, dead canopy made entirely of trees branches was the fact that it made it relatively easy to climb from tree to tree. Heck, if he could get back up on top of it, it would only be a matter of walking along the canopy until the got to the edge of the forest.
But should he risk it? Running blindly would get them nowhere; they needed to see where they were going, otherwise they'd be running forever. The top of the canopy was the best option, but as it stood, they had a more obvious problem.

Besides, what if they ran into a pack of these things? What if they ran right off of a cliff? This place was a death trap. No wonder everything here was dead.
"I have an idea, but I'll need you to let go of me for a bit. Sit next to me, and hold on to the branches for your life. The thicker ones.
I want to cut a path up to the top of the canopy. That way, we can see where Riventor is and head there instead of running blindly through a forest for hours until we drop dead from exhaustion and die."
Bump post because I redid some parts of the locations in the original post. Now there's.. actually some descriptions lmao.
"Time to mix drinks and change lives."

I look forward to seeing the CS! We'll discuss stuff further when you send it my way.
As for the location, it depends on what kind of bar aesthetic you're going for.

Portside would be more of like a sailor stop kinda deal, whereas Hightown would be full of excessively expensive and gaudy drinks that cater to the town's elite exclusively; the kind of club where if you look a little 'wrong' they'll tell you to get lost.
So, basically the same as every other part of Hightown, actually.

I'd wager that the two best places would be either City Northside because of its proximity to both the people living in the city and those living in the Central District, too. That said, City Central is where a lot of nightclubs and the like are, so it might fit in there too.
However, somewhere near the border road between City Northside and the Central District would probably be the best, most centralised location for it. As for the type of bar, I'll leave that in your hands.

I need to make better descriptions of the locales, huh

also get your head off of the floor pls, you have done nothing wrong
I'll wait for @Lunarlord34 to post before getting my next one up.
So what do we all think of a discord channel? :)
is that something we're interested in?

I know I am

If a bunch of people want to, I'll consider making one for us all. I'll have to make a Discord account, though.

I'm Very interested in this whole... Affair lol. Though I'll admit I'm at a bit of a loss for a character. I'm not usually a school or real(ish) story character type. In those cases i tend to base characters off myself slightly, so their details seem more... Legit? But all I've got is being a chef/bartender at one of the local restaurants? Either she can overhear a cult member/detective talking about things and becomes curious, or if one of the cult members would like to be her close friend and come to her to talk that would be awesome!?
Lemme know if that sounds okay? Or if anyone's character would like to be her friend? I'd love to be a part of this amazing world! 🖤🐌

Y'know, that would actually work pretty well. It's a good way for them to get involved whether they're friendly with the Occult Club or not. It also puts them in the line of fire. ;)
I think bartender would work a bit better, since they're near the bar where people might come to drink away their depression or air their woes to tired coworkers.
Or, maybe, a familiar and regular customer vanishes one day, and the bartender can't quite recall their name?
wink wonk

Everyone keeps mentioning cult members, there's no cults in Blackharbour!
and, by saying that, everyone is now 200% more certain that there are, in fact, cults in Blackharbour
<Snipped quote by Kuroakuma>

Yeah I'll happily have a look at those details, if that's alright.

I sent a PM your way. Enjoy~

I need the Police Chief info

I sent you a PM, too!

If I don't reply, it's because I've fallen asleep.
*whistles totally innocently*
Or maybe, just maybe, to the absolute horror of the Police, every file that should have referred to the Leader.. now refers to some completely different person.
Maybe some of those names are the names of people who vanished mysteriously years prior? Maybe they're the names of some people who threw themselves from the Leap of Faith?
Maybe some of them are even the names of the other members of the Occult Club?

Maybe they're the names of the police themselves?

Man, wouldn't that be freaky? Reading up on a file about a missing person's case, only to see your name?
I'm surprised the Chief of Police doesn't know. Surely the cops would have to know, right?
They'd have documentation, right?
... Right?
