The year is 2020. The world's primary power is Britannia, controlling 1/2 of the known Earth. The Chinese Federation mostly controls the other half, although it is generously allocated to a few lone stragglers. The Britannian empire is a place of glory, riches, and high living. The numbers are not as fortunate. Area 11, formerly Japan, took the change better than others. Once a proud nation, it has been reduced merely to kissing the feet of a greater being. The fate is worse than that of a war-torn rebel nation nearing extinction. The system to become an Honorary Brittanian is simpler than in other Areas because of this, so few Elevens remain. Those who rebel are looked down upon, even by their fellow once-Elevens, and those bursts happen a few times every three or four years. Needless to say, Japan is long-gone, buried under the Great Britannian Influence, as it has become widely known. Any rebellion in Area 11, even if it were to grow, would not have the people's support, and therefore not the Chinese Federation's, which means it has little to no hope of defeating something as great as Britannia.
The Chinese Federation is a place where meager and poor living are quite normal, and perfectly fine. Many plots are brewed and stewed there to overthrow Britannia, and they have the wealth. Despite their people's poverty, a democratic system (adopted from straggler Amourica) ruled that the people would gladly give up their money to help the currently-nonexistent war effort. The only hope of defeating Britannia is Geass, the absolute power that reflects one's inner soul's desires. The Emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire has this power, making another contract arising the only hope. No contracts have been made in this world since the Emperor's so long ago. However, a strange scent rides upon the air today. An unidentifiable smell unlike any before. Perhaps this is a sign of a new great change? The sign of a new contract-giver, a new unknown person, waiting to ask the fated question?

@vancexentan, and me, currently) are going to be sent a synopsis of the current story arc. They can choose to follow it, loosely stick to it, or just full-on ignore it. After the arc is completed, I'll release it to the public, just for fun, so you can see what they were supposed to do. Their characters are completely theirs. Within humanity's reason, they can go wild. And that is the same with how they interact. They can fight, love, be friends, be evil betrayers, be stereotypical heroes, or be just plain stereotypes, or maybe all of the above! As long as I approve them.
Here's your setting in terms of Code Geass-standards. This takes place in a calmer Area 11, Geass still exists, it works the same as it did in the anime, Zero and the Black Rebellion/Black Knights never existed, (no canon characters or their offspring, guys) neither did C2, Suzaku, the rest of everyone, Lancelot, etc. The only exception is the Britannian royal family. They are completely the same, exclude Lelouch and Nunnaly. Prince Clovis is still the ruler of Area 11. There have been no major technological advances since the anime. In other words, everything is exactly where it was left except for the things I mentioned before. Simple, right?
Geass will be based on a character's personality/history to determine what power they will receive. The contract scenario will play out in PM, and the recipient will be selected using
RANDOM.ORG. Your character may decline the contract, in which case they will be aware that Geass exists, just not what it is capable of. All other players will have no idea who has the Geass (or, IC, that the Geass exists.) Keep in mind that I may choose to give the Geass scenario at any time, so nobody necessarily has the Geass at any given point. Your character can (and probably will) run tests to see the limits of their Geass, though its bare-boned schematics will be known to them immediately. All situations involving Geass will be played out in PMs with anyone involved. Keep careful check on your character's knowledge. I'll also run a tiny chance that somebody stumbles into one of your Geass PMs, interrupting you, in which case the chance grows higher that more people will stumble in. Eventually, you may be asked to copy your posts into the IC, but that's rare. Either way, your character can react in any way to the Geass. They may not start a rebellion, but they may just act cool as hell from then on.
