Utah finished prepping for the mission before all the others and was already on her way to the Pelican way before Wash even opened up Comms. Her weapons of choice were loaded and Zeta was ready to aid her in the mission.
"Zeta, have you gotten all their names yet?" She was eager to get the mission rolling, and was now going through her final checks.
"Yes, the file has been repaired their on your HUD now." Zeta was also eager, he wanted to have some fun.
"Be prepared Z, something tells me that this mission is going to be rough."
They finally got to the Hangar where Washington was. She stopped and saluted in normal navy fashion.
"Permission to board, sir!" it was clean and crisp, typical of an ODST, something that hadn't changed since she left Boot. Just goes to show why she graduated with above average marks, several points higher infact, and her performance was exmplary. In her entire career there was only one blemish in her record, ONI.
@6slyboy6 Here's my finished draft... I just need to get it polished up the ones in WIP are the things I don't know if I should fill in since I am a faction, I'm not exactly based in one place, and the fact some of them might or might not be the same with the Empire like Culture for example. But here ya go. tell me what you think, and where I should make changes and or improvements.
Banner/Flag: (Still being made)
Name: The Black Sun Insurrection
Government: Independence movement (Subject to change as time goes on)
Government Description: The Black Sun and its hierarchical structure is not well known, the Insurrection operates secretively their there are many leaders in the order but there is only one that everyone takes an order from or at least the Empire is led to believe, however this is where they hit the dead end, no one knows who this mysterious leader is not even their own men, and even the higher ranking officials of the order only know him by title, “The Watchman”.
Main race: Human
Minority races: WIP
Demography: WIP
Religion: Unafiliated
Culture: WIP
History: The Black Sun has its roots in history it has been pestering the Empire since the end of the Xeno War some 300 years ago, since then the Insurrection has grown, it has changed, it has evolved, the game is different now, there are new leaders at the helm of this small rebellion, over time the Insurrection got smarter, it got more organized, every hit was well planned, and they would disappear with little to no trace of their whereabouts, in the recent thirty years however this change has become more evident as the raids began to increase in frequency, this time with public messages being broadcast to the public, images of the Empire’s mistreatment of colonists forcing them to move to different systems, forcing them to live with Xenos.
The Black Sun has only targeted military targets, their goal is secession their goal is to become free from the Empire’s controlling grasp, if the Emperor can abuse his power by erasing the history of Mankind, and forcing his people to live where they do not want to live. How long until the Emperor abuses his power again? How will he use his power this time? No, the Black Sun does not forgive, it does not forget, the people deserve freedom.
Important Characters:
Martin Kell:
He is the mind behind the Black Sun, he is the Watchman, he he lives parallel lives, one as the leader of the Insurrection and one as Spymaster within the Imperial Intelligence Bureau, he gathers information and covers up the tracks of the Insurrection whenever possible, he has many allies, he pulls the strings of many people, although he keeps his head low, and does his job within the Bureau, he is effective at what he does, he has all the pieces in play and yet still manages to hide in plain sight feigning loyalty to the Emperor, many Black Sun members within the Empire are under his control as soldiers and body guards, they do their jobs, they follow imperial command, however they do not know that Martin is The Watchman. Martin is smart, cunning, and extremely careful, he knows his enemies very well, after all he has lived as a loyal servant for many years.
James Langerhan:
He is Martin’s friend, and closest supporter, he is an Admiral in the Imperial navy, he was convinced by Martin in the past to join his crusade against the Empire, he said yes, Martin then began trying to convince his fleet and his men covertly it was a slow painstaking process but it was done, an Imperial fleet was now part of the Black Sun, they knew their job within the Empire and carried them out, as the corruption spreads, the Empire doesn’t know that there is a rot growing from within too distracted by the more public view of the Black Sun. James knew Martin was cunning, but he was terrified to know how cunning, he had already established the basis of a small nation from within the Empire without it ever knowing, James himself was promoted the Rank of Admiral for his services hunting down and destroying rebel fleets, how ironic that he is in one now and no-one even knows.
Kurt Macer:
He is an economist, entrepreneur, he has three companies that build arms, vehicles, and ships, he owns other companies inside the Empire, MacerIndustries.Inc has its grip around powerplants, misc. production of goods, agriculture, water. He made his living from the ground up and is protected behind a wall of lawyers, but Martin got to him, see Kurt isn’t an honest business man, he makes the rest of his money by secretly shipping weapons to the highest bidders, this time however the bid was his freedom and security, Martin investigated him, and found evidence of illicit trade, Martin said “You help me, and all of this is evidence goes down the drain.” Needless to say Macer agreed. But Macer is no fool, he was privy to at least a part of Martin’s plan, he knows he’s seceding from the Empire, Macer knew that he’d become the sole industrial power within this new nation the prospects of which made him an eager supporter, he bought some PMC forces in order to bolster his ‘security force’ when in reality he was recruiting men for the Black Sun, Martin took note, and told Macer to lay low, and so he did, excusing the excessive amounts of PMC’s as an extra security measure when delivering military munitions, ships, and vehicles.
Description of Military: The Black Sun is grouped into two separate divisions differing by level of exposure.
ARMY
-Frontliners, these people are the active part of the Insurrection, the ones who carry out raids by the order of The Watchman, these people are loyal to a point, and they are usually underequipped, they will use whatever they can get their hands on, that includes Xeno Weaponry.
-Insiders, This is the teir the Empire does not know about yet, these gather intelligence, they are the sleeper cells within the Empire ready to let loose, they are waiting for the day they become active, no more taking orders from the Empire.
NAVY
-Frontliner Navy, They don’t have many ships, they take what they can get, Xeno ships, Salvaged ships, Stolen ships, it’s a small navy a hodgepodge of imperial and Xeno ships, it’s a navy that’s capable of raiding and salvaging enemy supply lines and battle groups, but not fighting in prolonged engagements.
-Insider Navy, This is the one that the Empire does not know about, they are the ship captains and crews of Imperial naval operations that support the black sun, this also includes Mercenary ships that use older versions of Imperial ships though highly modified to compete with current versions of Imperial mainstay battleships.
Technology: They use whatever they have at their disposal whether it be Xeno or Human technology.
Ah well, I'll get to work on it after classes, and if I hurry I 'should' be done by later tonight. A lot of things might be the same as the Empire since they are basically a faction who want to diverge from the Empire, but there'll be more info when I submit the draft later.
Just a status update on my NS, I might be delayed since the word file that had it... Got corrupted, don't you just love it when you have to start all over again? *Sarcasm*
Utah hasn't even flinched from her original position, she tuned out the argument in the background and waited for the team lead to respond, she didn't really care of what Maine thought of her, she didn't know him, he didn't know her, and she has her own way of doing things and if that pissed him off so be it; from her experience only the CO get's to boss everyone around.
When the Iowa finished talking, she was going to repeat the questions but Wash was just a tad bit quicker, she listened carefully, apparently the back up plan was their armor augmentations, the plan was to turn the odds in their favor.
Additionally she pondered on something Wash said: that rank doesn't matter, that they're all the same no matter the outside background, she almost scoffed at the thought of it, 'these people are the same as me? Not a chance, there's no way the would know what hell I went through would they?' she pushed her thoughts aside and refocused.
There was one more question in her mind however...
"One more thing, what is everyone's designated codename? We were given them might as well use 'em."
the way she spoke this time was more of a calm serious demeanor, Washington's reflection shone off on her bright blue visor, in her mind the mission was the most important thing, she wanted to know the names to be able to communicate effectively with her team, her weapons were ready for the job, her pouches packed with ammunition; she was going to 'make friends' later on instead.
@Wernher We surely could, but I want to finish my CS first, which is proving rather difficult to write, but I'll get it finished soon, perhaps within this week, since that would give better depth to the characters and their goals, to the faction and their goals etc. which in turn will make interaction and relations easier to understand and establish.
@6slyboy6 That gives me a few ideas actually, how do you feel about a nationalistic Human faction that thinks that the Galaxy belongs to the people who settled it and not to the Empire itself? I got the idea after you said that the Emperor erased their history and that they forced people to live on worlds with Xenos (I imagine this also means forced relocation?) This would translate to motive as to why they wouldn't like the Empire as a whole, because they don't like how the Emperor gets the final say on what the people do, hence why they want to either form a Federal/Democratic Republic (Possibly communist but that's under consideration) they don't like Xenos very much, but they don't like the empire either which I think creates an interesting character Dynamic.
