Sorry for being hard on you earlier, I didn't mean to, I'm a bit new to this so I'm a little anxious - combine that with a pinch of sleep deprivation for at least two days and you have a recipe for a very irrational version of myself. So take this as you will, I just hope we can get past that little disagreement we had.

Announcement

The first post will be a pre-drop post - meaning it will be right before we drop into our first campaign. I'd appreciate if no one posts before I do in the IC so I could properly set the scene. ETA on that first post will either be sometime today or tomorrow. If any of you have any questions that is about this direct them either to me or the Co-GM, if any of you have a suggestion that would also be appreciated and I will be open to discussion about it.

I need a complete CS double-D or its a no go from me. Plus, while you've made your character more Republic, you left out the detail where her nationality is "Federal". I feel like you're not putting effort into fleshing our your CS and therefore your character. While I appreciate the little nod to our previous attempt at an RP, understand that this is the Nth time I've told you to flesh out your CS. If you can't do it I'll have to kick you out my dude, this is your last chance cause I don't want any disagreements later on.

DeadDrop, would you be able to outline the background clearer in your CS? Like how she became a loner, what's her reasoning for being one, why does she work for the republic instead of the Federation, etc. Things that would outline her life, I appreciate the mention of Eriks Eagles BTW, I just want to make sure that the CS and her character's construction is solid, so that if people need to refer to your CS it wouldn't be a problem.

@Shadow Daedalus No problems so far with yours, do note that some of the worlds you people mention, describe, and create may make an appearance in the story, so go wild with the world building if you see it fit as we may visit those places for rest, regrouping, resupply, battles, etc.

So... Alex is Federal, but is fighting for the Republic, and now has to work with the feds? It's slightly confusing, though that may be me being worked to the bone. I'd like this to be outlined a bit clearer just in case cause if I can get confused by that background, others might become confused as well.

Just to make the distinction clear, which I'm sure I made clear already, the Free Citizen's Federation and The Unitary Republic of Terra are different entities.

The Federation are a breakaway faction from the Unitary Republic of "Terra" - Terra meaning Earth. Meaning they revolted against the Earth Government which is the center of the Republic. I realize I may have been clearer with this fact, but I did reinforce this idea in the additional information about them. Sorry again for the confusion.

The Federation's full name is The Free Citizen's Federation - free from the apparent dictatorial nature of the republic and gives more power to the citizens under a Federal government i.e. Free Citizen's Federation. I know it's very imaginative.

@DeadDrop I would invite you to read the background and additional information first, this isn't exactly Starship Troopers, rather it is something inspired by Starship Troopers & the HALO franchise so some of the information you have is somewhat inaccurate to the current setting. While it is a functional sheet, it isn't in theme with the current RP now and I would like to request, with all due respects, that you change to relate more to the information that is presented in the first OOC post before I approve your character.

Basically what I'm saying is, the Republic owns Terra (Earth) so the Federation can't be the "Terran Federation" and looking at the context of the situation of the Federation, it has only formed quite recently. You are correct about one point in your background where boots needed to be filled quickly but that now juxtaposes grueling training, you can't have grueling training if you're in desperate need of recruits quickly - your troops come out with minimal training and just hopes they gain enough experience through their first battle that they could come out fine in the next. The Federation would also be quite poor because the majority of the worlds would be new colonies that have started open revolt recently, other affluent planets are present but they are the minority, of the twenty only five are fully established and that is where most of the Federation's industry was during the civil war.

The Federation's current size is about 43 worlds, with a number of them being quite developed but have been damaged substantially by the war. Of the 43 worlds, 20 have enough infrastructure to be industrialized enough to support the current war against our alien foe. Just clearing most of that confusion for the rest because it was my fault I wasn't clear. This basically is a juxtaposition of the Republic which was well developed and well funded from the start and suffered minimal losses during the entire duration of the civil war.

Again I am quite sorry for the confusion I may have caused for being unclear the first time. I'll add this information in the OOC later on.

Michael is a young looking Lieutenant, properly fed and fit for active duty. He has multiple scars from previous battles on his torso. His eyes are hazel brown and are down turned. He is often described as having a thoughtful facial expression that puts people at ease.

_BACKGROUND:

Michael was born into a military oriented family, military personnel aren’t known to be very affluent and while there was a life insurance policy it was usually a one time payment of twenty thousand republic credits. If only his family had higher ranked officers that they could live a bit of a better lifestyle. To make things worse his mother and his brothers couldn’t hold down a job on Thane – their home planet.

Thane is a relatively affluent region of Republic rule, however, Thane had an abysmal employment rate and a staggeringly high unemployment rate. These problems were mostly a consequence of Republic reforms happening in the region. Thane was a small world, around forty-eight percent smaller than Earth with proportionally weaker gravity. Thane is also a mostly water world meaning that infrastructure would be restricted to the small amount of landmass that the world has. People who wanted to generate income either had to join the military or become a merchant or economist. Other sources of income are lucrative and shady at best – shared with the fact that the planet has limited arable land which causes problems if crops are hit by some calamity like hurricanes which are frequent on Thane.

Michael and his brothers were forced to choose between the available options for familial income. Michael, like his father before him, joined the military. Thane would subsequently fall to ruin when the Federation kicked up its offensive. His family was reduced by three – all of them were his brothers. His mother is still alive alongside his final remaining brother who is a war correspondent for the Republic.

_{COMBAT EXPERIENCE:}

Michael’s joined the military when he was 21, his early experience in the army was of intense training under the very well funded military of the Republic. Most of his combat training depended upon “Wargaming” scenarios by the higher echelon. While these wargames did not prepare them for the battle with the Federation, it did however allow Michael to showcase his leadership abilities. In most of the wargames, Michael was able to showcase his small scale squad tactics to be superior to many of his peers. While there were people who were better than Michael, his performance was enough to earn him a promotion of first sergeant.

Michael got his first taste of combat when he was 26 at his homeworld of Thane which depended largely on aquatic and aerial based strategies to engage the invading Federal force. His actions at Thane would earn him his recommendation for the ODIN program as one of the pioneering troopers. On Thane he was able to trick the enemy sea based force into thinking his force was larger than it was driving them into a trap laid out by the Republic coastal defenses on one of the few islands that served as strategically important locations on the planet. Michael continued his string of successes on many of the battles of control over the planet’s main islands, his homefield knowledge allowed him to out maneuver the enemy and make sound tactical decisions when facing them. Ultimately however, the actions of one squad cannot amount to the pressures of warfare on such a small planet – Thane fell to the Federation along with over two million enlisted fighting men.

At Lusitania, he proved himself again to be a capable leader as he pushed the boundaries of what ODIN was capable of. He was able to use the tactics of the enemy against them which was quickly adapted by many other ODIN units on the planet. He was the reason for ODIN being able to produce results against a numerically superior enemy. The major defeat came when the ODIN research station on Hesperus was attacked as the defending fleet was overwhelmed by Federation forces – ODIN technology fell into enemy hands.

The rest of the war was a brutal stalemate with back-and-forth battles that seemed endless. ODIN units were deployed everywhere and more often than not Michael and his squad would face them. At the end of the war he would be promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant and was decorated over eight times for meritorious achievements, distinction of service, and acts of valor in the field.

While Michael may have a soft, thoughtful facial expression that would put most at ease, he is more than a face in combat. He is a responsible, practical adult who has been decorated many times under the Republic Military. That said, his practical and logical reasoning skills falter when it comes to the men and women under his command. The people under his command, in his opinion, are more valuable alive than the cost of any objective – if push came to shove, he would put himself first in line for any suicide mission unless it was absolutely necessary for someone else to go.

This contradicts with what he needs to do as a soldier – furthermore, he feels the need to voice his thoughts about every order the high command gives and borders on insubordination, however, he never sets that example to his men. He is honest kind hearted, but he is also tough and rugged when it comes down to getting the business done. He makes a point of being an example for the rest.
