The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio

A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.

I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.

@OtomostheCrazy Oh dear Arceus, I wonder how our characters are going to interact? This is gonna be interesting... especially when they inevitably both get their harsh dose of reality...
Sophia Danvers

Well, this wasn't what she'd expected. Nearly slipping on a pile of papers, Sophia stared in disbelief at the complete and utter disaster that was Professor Bonsai's lab. It would have been impressive if the floor hadn't been a sea of scattered documents. In the middle of the room, a man in a lab coat tried to make some kind of order of a paperwork heap. This was the region's Pokemon Professor? How had somebody like this managed to get such a job?

She marched over, her Gothita following. "I'm Sophia Danvers," she said, pushing in front of the other trainers and eyeing the professor with more than a hint of disdain. She tapped her foot on the floor, folding her arms as she waited for the flustered man to find her file. She hoped the group would be able to start their adventure sooner rather than later. At this rate, they'd spend most of the day stuck in this dump.

Sophia's grin returned. Despite the mishap, it seemed as if Rheese was impressed after all. She smoothed her hair down the best she could in the breeze. "Yep! It's just a little trick I can do," she said, letting go of the parasol again. It bobbed in the air, the copious amount of lace rippling, before folding shut and returning to her hand. She tried not to grimace. She'd just gone and made her headache worse, but she couldn't let it show - what she'd done was supposed to look effortless. "Excuse Gothita here. She's quite the prankster."

At that moment, a Wooper jumped out of the other trainer's Pokeball and soaked him with a jet of water. Sophia couldn't help but chuckle. So she wasn't the only one on the receiving end of a prank from a Pokemon. Behind her, Gothita giggled.

"So you can relate," Sophia commented. "Anyway, I'm Sophia." She took a slight step back, with a dubious look at the mud puddle that was forming around Rheese's feet, then at him. She wouldn't let any of the mud get on her shoes. "It's, uh..." She wrinkled her nose. "Nice to meet you too."

With a yell of disgust, she pulled out of the way as somebody even more drenched than Rheese rushed past. "Watch where you're going!" she called, scowling. She turned back towards Rheese. "Well, if we're both making a start on our journey, what are we waiting around for?" Holding her head high, she strode into the lab, keeping well away from the exhausted-looking man who was dripping dirty water all over the floor. At least other people were much worse for wear than she was.
Sophia Danvers

"Move aside," Sophia hissed as she pushed through the crowd, glaring at people who were talking too loudly on their phones. The jet lag was bad enough, she shouldn't have to deal with this too. A headache was building up behind her eyes. She hoped it wouldn't affect her ability to concentrate. There would most likely be people in Windshire she'd want to impress with her particular skills.

"Hey!" a man yelled as she elbowed him in the ribs. She regarded him coolly, focusing on his hat. It slipped over his eyes. "Wha...?!" She turned around before she could see his reaction, her bow-tipped shoes clicking on the tiles as she swept through the airport and out of the door.

As soon as she stepped outside, the Pokeball at her belt shook and opened. In a burst of light, her Gothita appeared beside her. "Go-thi!" she squealed, looking at her new surroundings in awe. Sophia's steely expression softened. Much of the time, the Gothita preferred to be out of her Pokeball. Reaching down and stroking the Pokemon on the head, Sophia smiled. "Well, we're here," she said. "You ready for this?" Gothita nodded, with a happy cry of "I-ta!"

Sophia made her way towards the lab, the Gothita by her side. She frowned as the wind blew her hair into her face. The ribbons and ruffles on her clothes flapped around. At least the weather wasn't as bad as that of Mistralton, but it was still an inconvenience.

Upon noticing a young man in a grey hooded jacket heading in the same direction as her, she approached him. "Hi," she said, a confident smile on her face. "It doesn't take someone like me to tell you're here for the same reason I am. It's just a shame about this weather." She threw a closed frilled parasol into the air and stared at it. It snapped open, drifting a little on the breeze, but she controlled its direction, using her power to pull it down. Her smirk spreading, she reached out and closed her slim fingers around the handle, tilting the parasol to block the wind.

Her Gothita, who had been glancing around at the sights of Windshire, scowled as she noticed what Sophia was doing. The Pokemon focused her own telekinetic power on the parasol. Sophia's smirk faded instantly as her parasol turned inside out - against the wind. She groaned. Why did her Pokemon find tricks like this funny? She grabbed the edge, only for it to close on her head. "Aargh!" She flailed for a few seconds before managing to open it, her hair sticking out in all directions. She glowered over her shoulder at the Gothita, who gave her a look of innocence. So much for a first impression.
Thanks for the battles, I'll try to have a post up soon.
@Heckno12 Yeah, I can see how that would be inconvenient. Ok, if you want to battle on Showdown, I'll be online for a while.
@Heckno12 Thanks, just re-signed up. I picked my character name as my username (sophiadanvers).

Just wanted to ask, how are things like levelling up and catching new Pokemon going to work in this?
I'm back! Aargh, I haven't done anything like Showdown in a while and I'm just re-figuring it out... Still, it'll be fun to have Sophia react to getting her ass handed to her.
Ah, is everything alright now?
Emma

Emma nearly slopped the last forkful of her food over herself as the ground shook. Quickly finishing her meal, she stood up to face the giant dragon who had made his presence known with crashing footsteps. His words sent a thrill through her. Incubation caverns... It was time. It was finally time for the students to do what they'd come here for, and each bond with a dragon.

The moment Dr Nidhogg had finished speaking, he turned and left down the hallway. Emma ran, her short legs working furiously to keep up with the dragon's thundering strides. If it hadn't been for the regular swimming and long walks, she'd never have been able to even come close to matching his speed. Her bag kept knocking against her shoulder, but she didn't care. This would be more than worth having to rush.

A pair of wooden doors creaked open in front of her. At the sight they revealed, she stared, her mouth open. Veering to the side to avoid crashing into Vivii, who had stopped abruptly, she slowed her pace and leaned against a rocky wall. Her gaze swept over the clutch of eggs that filled the room. Many of them reached up to her waist, and she'd never seen eggs of these colours, from jewel-like to metallic. Weren't reptile eggs usually plain white? These dragons were utterly unlike any creature she knew of.

"Dragon eggs..." she breathed. She looked up at Dr Nidhogg. Here she was, with a university degree, and she hadn't said anything intelligent since she'd arrived. She felt her face heat up. It wasn't like her to be shy and self-conscious, but then again, standing before an ancient, majestic being would do this to anyone. "So... Soul bonding," she said, recalling what Dr Nidhogg had said earlier. "How does it work?" She knew she and the others would find out soon enough, but this way they'd know what to expect.
