The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio
A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.
I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.
At the reminder of the planned battle, Oriana nodded. "Yep! I haven't forgotten! We'll want to be somewhere near a Pokemon centre, but once we are, prepare to get swept!" Pokemon were pretty hardy, as Devastator had proven, but she'd want to get them healed up as quickly as possible. "Ohh, I heard they have cafeterias in Pokemon centres, that's where we could grab lunch!"
Darlene's explanation that she didn't have to be so formal put her at ease - well, as at ease as she could be around new people. "I mean, that's still pretty impressive!" While high fashion had never personally been her thing, she knew from her parents that running a business presented plenty of challenges. Venus Threads' level of popularity was quite the achievement.
When Darlene sent out her Pokemon, Oriana gasped. "Wow! Is that a Rapidash? I've never seen one like that!" Rapidash was known for the flames streaming from its body, but this one had a flowing pink and blue mane instead. She cringed inwardly, wondering if most everyone knew of this variant. If so, her lack of experience was showing. In front of an Overseer and her daughter, no less.
Shakudo slowly approached and sniffed at the three Pokemon, before apparently deciding it was a bad idea to get close, and slithering behind Oriana. "Hey, it's ok." With a laugh, she turned and pet him. "Yes they're fairy types. No they won't hurt you, they're friendl- What the heck?!"
She jumped up at the sound of a commotion. As someone explained the situation over DexWatch, her stomach went tight. A robbery? In broad daylight? If it was during the day, in front of everyone, the thieves were surely using force, or at least threatening to. Her parents hadn't been kidding about the world being a dangerous place.
Returning her Pokemon, she clambered onto Norah's Mudsdale. Before long, the scene of the crime came into view. Through the store's large windows, she could see a group clad in black, clearing shelves of items as workers and shoppers withdrew. Eyes wide with horror, she watched George storm right up to one of the thieves, a teen boy keeping watch in front of the store.
"George, careful!" She jumped off of the Mudsdale and sprinted over to George, jabbing a button on a Pokeball. In a flash, Carnelian appeared. She wouldn't involve shy Shakudo in this if she could help it, but a two versus one scenario could prompt the boy to back off.
Dratini (Shakudo)
Roggenrola (Carnelian)
Assorted trinkets (pebbles, low value gems, old coins)
Appearance Information: With her cyberpunk wardrobe and dyed white hair (from naturally blonde), Astrid wouldn't look out of place at a sci-fi convention. Despite her odd fashion sense and mannerisms, her wide blue eyes and the cheerful expression she often wears give her an approachable air. She stands at 5'7", with a leanly athletic build thanks to keeping active with competitions.
Personality: As is fitting for a Galarian gym leader, Astrid has a major flair for the dramatic. She's known for her deliberately cheesy pre-battle speeches, gets heavily into her laser tag roleplays, and generally exudes cheer and vitality. Even outside of matches, she keeps up this persona much of the time.
This reflects her tendency to escape reality, something she's been in the habit of all her life. Carefree as she seems, she knows how harsh the world can be, and seeks means of retreat, as well as offering such to others. Some tell her she needs to put aside the space-age act now and again, keeping down to Earth so to speak, but she doesn't listen. Ground, after all, is the Electric type's main weakness.
While some may find her attitude silly or childish, she isn't one to underestimate. She's quite the strategist, overcoming weaknesses and turning battles to her advantage with complex tactics.
Short Biography: As the daughter of an electronics company owner, Astrid's early life seemed enviable. The reality wasn't so glamorous; as her father slowly frittered away his wealth gambling, he'd verbally take out his frustration on his family. Astrid coped by losing herself in her favourite sci-fi shows and games, then as she grew older, by spending as much time out of the house as possible. She felt much more comfortable hanging out with the Magnemite she'd met by one of the factories than at home.
Over time, she made other friends - less than savoury ones. They'd skip school, get into fights, and generally cause trouble. Things came to a head one day when she refused to assist with a break-in, and to "teach her a lesson", the ringleader tried to set his Torracat on her. The Magnemite defended her, getting badly hurt, but hanging on thanks to its sturdy body. It was able to paralyze the Torracat with Thunder Wave, allowing Astrid to get to safety and alert others to the goings-on.
Thankfully the Magnemite survived, and after the incident, her mother helped her turn her life around. After finally leaving her husband, she encouraged her daughter to deal with her issues in healthy ways, such as competitive sports, and becoming a serious Pokemon trainer. Astrid filled out her team, training them on a regular basis. She also took part in many competitions herself, and in adulthood, went on to open up her own laser tag venue. She was no longer helpless, and wanted to give others that adrenaline rush and sense of triumph - as well as the happy family memories she wished she had.
However, she found strength and success were meaningless if you couldn't do anything with them. Her true desire was to help give people purpose and make sure they trained Pokemon responsibly, unlike her former "friends". So, when a gym leader spot opened up and the chairman began seeking out candidates, Astrid jumped at the chance, making it into Galar's major league.

Surprisingly for someone so energetic, she's not a morning person. At all. You won't get much sense out of her until she's had several cups of coffee, which she calls "motor fuel".
Dyes her hair frequently. Right now it's white, and it'll probably be a different colour in a few months' time. A good few times, it's been several colours at once.
She's a big fan of Unova gym leader/supermodel Elesa, admiring her confidence and stage presence. Aside from having had a Magnemite from a young age, this is why Astrid decided to specialise in Electric types.
LEAGUE PROFILE
Type Specialty: Electric
League Ranking: Major League
League Placement: TBD
Gym Location: TBD
Gym Description: TBD
POKEMON
TBD ...
[Pokemon #1]: Magnezone (Pulsar): Astrid's first Pokemon, and has been a steadfast companion for years. Expresses annoyance at her more wacky tendencies, but is a loyal and protective friend.
[Pokemon #2]: Rotom (Eclipse): Eclipse is as mischievous as you'd expect a Rotom to be, hiding inside electronics and jumping out at people. Particularly likes making lights flicker for dramatic effect.
[Pokemon #3]: Vikavolt (Caelum): A major show-off who relishes the chance to display his aerial moves, and gets twitchy if he isn't the centre of attention. His favourite training method is to use a restrained, harmless version of Signal Beam to laser tag Astrid.
[Pokemon #4]: Heliolisk (Sunspot): This Pokemon only has two settings, off and turbo. He spends much of his time basking or sleeping, but when motivated, is suprisingly active. Once he's used up that considerable burst of energy, he'll be right back into lazy mode.
[Pokemon #5]: Toxtricity, Amped Form (Lacerta): A loud and brash Pokemon who competes with Caelum for the limelight. She loves battling, but can't stand losing, and sulks for hours after defeat. Capable of Gigantamaxing.
[Pokemon #6]: Eelektross (Nova): Despite her huge size and intimidating appearance, Nova is a big softy. She likes to nuzzle and hug people, which often gives them a mild shock.
[Pokemon #1]: Ampharos (Aries): A calm Pokemon who watches over the rest of Astrid's team, keeping them out of trouble. Rather than battling, he prefers to watch and create light effects for a more impressive show. That said, he isn't averse to battles, and will step in if any of her other Pokemon are unable or unwilling to fight for any reason.
[Pokemon #2]: Raichu (Comet): So-named because of her speed, and her glowing tail when she's highly charged with electricity. As a Pikachu, audiences loved her cute playful act. After evolving, she was happy at first, but due to the popularity of Pikachu as a species, fans reacted less positively to her. She became bitter, and less willing to battle. Although Astrid still gives her just as much affection, Comet tends to be jealous of her other Pokemon. ...
[Pokemon #1]: Elgyem (Rigel): A timid Elgyem who, abandoned by his original trainer, found his way into Astrid's gym one day and didn't want to leave. He doesn't like battling, but hangs around as a companion. ...
Someone beat me to the position of gym leader (or at least gym leader equivalent) in another RP, and I was gonna go with Electric, so I think I'll bring my character in here.
Question, are more Pokemon available in this than in the games? Because this character's ace is a Magnezone.
Jumping out of the car, Oriana stretched her back and headed to Norah's side. "Seeya, and will do!" She waved to Rory as he drove off.
At Norah's mention of touring the city, Oriana bounced on her heels. "Oooh, tour sounds good! As does food of course!" She'd worked up quite an appetite exploring the foothills, and she supposed her Pokemon must be hungry too. Well, one of them anyway - did a Roggenrola even need to eat? She'd have to learn more about caring for different Pokemon.
"I heard this city has quite the history! It'll be great to learn more about it, and see the old castle! And any other ruins! And museums, and the architecture, and... Uhh, if I'm talking too much, I apologise." She gave a stiff bow, as if to royalty.
"Anyway, come on out, we've got some exploring to do!" She let out both her Pokemon. Shakudo craned his neck and stared around, while Carnelian swivelled her body from side to side, presumably taking in the new sounds. "I know, it's amazing, huh?" Grabbing her phone, she started taking pictures of the old buildings and battlements. Even though Hesperus was only a short distance from Mercer, she'd thought she'd never get the chance to see it.

@TheNoCoKid Went ahead and made an Overseer. I like energetic characters, can you tell? xD
Name: Astrid Jennings
Position: Overseer of Zhivegas City
Gender: Female
Age: 28

However, she found strength and success were meaningless if you couldn't do anything with them. Her true desire was to counter injustice, and make sure people trained Pokemon responsibly, unlike her former "friends". So, when the Overseer announced her imminent retirement and sought out challengers to take her place, Astrid accepted. Upon victory, the position was hers.
