Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

I approve of this raging alcoholic monocled city official plan.
I was thinking that the way I said it ultimately wouldn't work. I'll change things around somewhat, including the ability.
No objections whatsoever.
Name: Cain

Age: 42

Race: Twili

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Like most Twili, Cain covers his milky-pale skin with shadows of his own creation. Actual fabric, though traditionally limited to only those in great power, was afforded to him due to his own position. His short, red hair lies beneath a cowl and a patterned cloth covers his nose and mouth. A sort of moon-shaped cloth drapes across his upper torso, and a belt secures several lengths of cloth around his waist. Finally, he wears a cape emblazoned with several swirling twilight insignias. On his arms are attached sleeves in which he keeps his weapons—huge clawlike gauntlets called Sacred Wolf Claws. Naturally, when in the world of light, he is nothing but a shadow, though he can alter it to be two or three-dimensional at will. When two-dimensional, he is invariably cast upon a surface, like a normal shadow.

Theme Song:

Personality: Sneaky, brilliant, wrathful, resolute, collected, grudging

Backstory:
A millennium ago, there existed a world very different to that of Hyrule; a dark world inhabited by pale beings who wielded shadow magic called the Twilight Realm. Though alien and hostile, this kingdom was peaceful and prosperous until the Usurper King Zant claimed the throne for his own in a bid to take over the World of Light that had scorned his ancestors. After his conquest, few Twili remained unchanged; one that did was Cain, the previous Royal Spymaster and a devious but loyal follower of Princess Midna—not to mention her secret admirer. Funnily enough for an expert information broker, Cain didn't find out until too late that the Twilight Princess, ruler of his realm, and secret love Midna, had been transformed by Zant and banished to the fabled, terrifying World of Light. Suffused with rage, he vowed to find her and help her win back her throne.

But with the Mirror of Twilight shattered, and no member of the royal family left untwisted to conjure a portal to the World of Light, he had to find another way. After months of searching, however, his growing rage got the better of him and he approached Zant himself. Woefully underestimating the Usurper's power, Cain was struck down by Zant's magic energies and forcibly banished from the Twilight Realm via a particularly powerful portal. Upon waking, Cain found himself reduced to a shadow in an incredible but deadly world--that of Light. Despite his initial elation, it didn't take long for Cain to realize that this world and the one he wished to enter were very different. In this world there was no hint of Twilight, not a peep about an extraordinary imp; even his race as a whole was totally unheard of. Cain found himself confused, lost, and very much alone. Luckily, however, he did find a companion in the form of Frore, a thuggish, easy-to-manipulate Chilfos as one-of-a-kind as Cain was himself. The two quickly became a formidable team; one was the body, the other the voice; one was the brawn, the other the brains. In the shadow of Frore Cain resolved to find a way to return home.

Skills/Talents:
1) SHADOW MAN – in the World of Light, Cain employs several natural abilities to remain both undetected and alive. First and foremost, he can hide in the shadows of living beings. While hidden, he can still speak. For a limited time he can also regain his full-bodied form and solidify himself to physically interact with things in the world of light, but any length of contact longer than a few seconds will kill him (magic/survival)
2) SPYMASTER – using skills gained during his time as the Grand Spymaster of the Twilight Palace, Cain is adept at stealth, covert operation, and quickly obtaining information (practical)
3) DARK TRAVEL – Cain can dissolve himself into hundreds of tiny, angular black particles and teleport great distances. However, he must be in full-bodied form to do this, and since doing that in the world of light is lethal, this isn't a very useful talent at the moment (magical)
4) SAVAGE – years of training with his clawed gauntlets have made Cain deadly with them (fighting)
5) TRICHOMANCY – like all Twili with any degree of magical power, Cain can manipulate his own hair to serve as a weapon, usually to make a giant, clawed hand when greater strength is needed. (magical/fighting)
6) SELF-RELIANT – spending lots of time alone, either to remain covert or survive in the wilderness, Cain is very capable of finding and obtaining food, water, and shelter (survival/practical)
7) TWILIGHT BURST – when under intense emotional duress, usually anger but also applicable to sorrow and despair, Cain begins to unconsciously build up dark energies within him. At he peak of his emotional state, he will automatically and explosively release it all, creating a spherical field approximately fifty feet in diameter that is technically within the Twilight Realm. The air assumes a golden hue with black particles sifting throughout, and Cain can assume his full-body form and access all of his powers within the confines of the field for up to ten minutes, at which point the field dissipates and the feedback strikes Cain unconscious. When active, the stationary field can be entered at will but only Cain can let an entrant leave (magic/fighting/survival)

Goal(s): Originally, to find and rescue Princess Midna. Now, he seeks a way to return to his own dimension.

Looks good, Corporal Lance.... Lancy.... Corpy-corp.... Nicknames will soon be a thing I wager. Eventually... Hopefuly... just too lazy to spell out people's entire usernames most days....I think I'll call August Tier Auggy-T.

Lug works fine for me, though those familiar with me (and my old username) usually call me Cav.

On a second note, tomorrow I will post my second character. He's quite close to Frore. Literally.
Along the way to the takeout store Greg had in mind, he passed by a small but quaint cafe, its nice but not overly fancy exterior illuminated from behind by the warmth within. For a week now he'd be planning to treat his parents to dinner there as a special occasion, but there never seemed to be enough time. Plus, money was an issue. A restaurant of this nature couldn’t be too expensive, but still, it would blast a sizable hole in his savings to provide a lovely meal for three. Of course, he had been toying with the idea of not getting anything himself, but it didn't feel proper. That dinner would be a celebration of the King family versus the world that so often snared up its members, and any stinginess would only blunt its meaning. Just as soon as Greg had arrived, he was gone. Half a block more was his destination.

Quicksilver Seraph continued to observe as the two alter egos remaining by the forest brought out their weapons. Floating spears and a pistol, if her eyes served her correctly—not exactly monster hunting material. The girl's attire further discredited her ability; even Ironclad's poor eyesight could see the girl's halo of hair and flamboyantly colorful, alluringly cut garb. Though in the back of her mind she was sure that two egos could handle a beast like that on their own, her spirit was crying out to give them help. “We must assist them. If they are hurt, it will fall on Envoy for bringing it here and us by extension.” She readied her bow as Ironclad muttered coldly, “Not like they couldn't just regenerate.” A scathing look from Sera shut him up; he hated that about her. “Ironclad, you will help.” He crossed his arms, creating a hair-raising scraping sound as blades drew across armor. “I'm not running out there again.” When she pointed her weapon to the nearby ballista, he truculently rolled his blazing orange eyes and stalked off to activate it.

After putting on a special glove connected to the machine, it roared to life and Ironclad began to direct it by moving his hand. Once he had a bead on the huge creature, which was currently being peppered by Breaker's guns to little effect, he clenched his hand and the gigantic crossbow fired. At the same time, Quicksilver Seraph loosed an azure corkscrew arrow. The two projectiles sailed through the air, and though the bolt was faster, the magic-infused arrow would seek its target.

Oblivious to the incoming fire, the negative continued to fight Fantasy Sky Breaker and Crisis Sonata. As the single Staccato Blade came near, the avian behemoth batted it away with a talon, only to squawk in annoyance as Breaker's bullet pierced its wing. Neither attack seemingly had much effect; Breaker would need to land a couple dozen more shots like the one he just inflicted to loosen enough feathers to send the negative tumbling out of the air. Meanwhile, it appeared that Sonata's full repertoire of lances might be necessary to bypass the negative's keen defense and land a vital strike.

At that moment, however, the huge, jet-black ballista bolt shot by Ironclad from the fortress walls screamed past the negative's torso and buried itself in a tree at the forest's edge, nearly reducing it to a pile of splinters. Startled but unhurt, the monster turned in the direction it came from only to receive an azure arrow to the chest. An agonized shriek resounded across the plains as the projectile detonated in an explosion of blue energy, rendering the negative distracted and stunned—perfect for a simultaneous onslaught from Sonata and Breaker.

A mile away, Seraph grinned.
“You missed.”
“Mine don't home. And I haven't got the eyes of a bloody eagle.”
“Hawk. I have the eyes of a hawk. I thought you'd know; you spend so much time staring into them...”
“You're unbelievable.”
Whoops, thought I did. My bad.
Oh, sure thing.
She doesn't seem all that sue-ish to me. She's got flaws, she isn't idealized and will likely never be idealized, she's not overpowered or excessively 'cool', seems fine to me.

And yes, I did quickly research what qualities define stus and sues.
Name: Frore

Age: 3 years

Race: Chilfos

Gender: Though Chilfos really have no gender, Frore has more masculine characteristics

Appearance:

Standing at seven feet, two inches tall, Frore is a rather average Chilfos. He somewhat resembles a skeleton, particularly his proportions -incredibly thin waist and jutting hips, for example-, in armor. He does have eyes, but they are indistinguishable from the rest of his helmet-like head. Though not shown in the picture, Frore has taken to wearing clothes to better blend in to human society. This consists of a long, hooded dark brown cloak with the mark of Nayru emblazoned in black throughout. When fighting, the cloak is removed.

Theme Song:

Personality:
Unintelligent though sentient, reserved, generally apathetic, stubborn, brutish

Backstory:
Frore came to be, along with a dozen other Chilfos, at the hands of a sorcerer several years ago. This sorcerer, called Niveous, was driven by his own failures in life and the legends of the ancient evil to attempt conquest of his own. From the frozen north he approached Hyrule with a small army of ice monsters, including Keese, Pengator, White Wolfos, Keeleon, Freezor, and Eeno. However, the Hyrulean army proved more than a match for this would-be despot, and successfully defended their kingdom. When Gorons arrived from the East to help, the invaders were defeated soundly, and Niveous himself killed. What remained of his forces fled northward and spread across the frozen plains there, becoming an annoyance to all those seeking to travel there but never a threat.

A few years later one wandering Chilfos stumbled upon an icy grave in the snow. It awakened a Stalfos from beneath the ground, and the two fought briefly. With the winter's power on its side, the Chilfos defeated its skeletal foe, but as it prepared to plunge its spear into the Stalfos' skull, it surprised the Chilfos by speaking and pleading for its life. Nevertheless, the cold warrior destroyed the pitiable creature, and took from it the object that seemed to be giving the Stalfos the ability to speak and think—a pendant with a blue stone and the mark of Nayru. Upon touching it, the Chilfos suddenly gained sentience, and after coming to grips with this realization he permanently absorbed the magic of the pendant by inserting it into his heart and freezing it there. Soonafter the Chilfos ventured south to the kingdom of Hyrule, where it found itself feared and unwelcome by the people there. By chance, it met a dark, ethereal companion called Cain that helped acquaint it with civilized life in exchange for hiding in his shadow. Frore now works as a mercenary for hire, though in reality the being in his shadow does most of the thinking.

Skills/Talents:
1) ICICLE - Frore is a master of the natural Chilfos weapon, the ice spear, and is both adept at keeping an opponent at range while targeting weak spots and throwing the weapon accurately. (Fighting)
2) COLDHEARTED - He has a naturally cold aura, capable of chilling things around him. To a degree, he can generate ice from the moisture in the air, most often to create new spears to replace ones thrown or broken. This cold aura also sustains him in warm climates. Given time, he can also heal himself. (Magic/survival)
3) CHILD OF WINTER - Due to his race, Frore can survive incredibly cold environments with absolutely no negative effects; in fact, cold weather boosts Frore's stamina and strength. (Survival/fighting)
4) AURORA - His skin is extremely glossy, capable of taking nearly any amount of light -however tiny- and amplifying it through ice crystals, causing his entire body to give off a greenish-white glow. (practical/magical)
5) NEVER HUNGRY - Water and air are the only resources Frore needs to survive; in fact, he doesn't have a real mouth, so eating isn't even an option (Survival)
(Frore has no practical skills whatsoever, being unable to make really much of anything except ice and oblivious to all human trades)

Goal(s):
Frore has no real goal in mind, particularly in the long term; at his core, he's just a Chilfos (albeit sentient) and simply fights for whoever will pay him or for any cause the finds worthy.

Inventory:
1 Robe, 1 wallet, 1 water bottle, 1 Nayru pendant (in heart), 1 Transfiguration Ring (owned by the fairy Lethe), and practically infinite spears

Wallet: 6 rupees
