Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

In reply to the voice coming from behind him, Raghu turned partially and waved, though he didn't stop walking. The younger boy who had just introduced himself as Aleric looked to be a complete foil to him; where Raghu's skin was approximately the hue of rust, this guy's was very light, verging on pale. While the Siddhartha garbed himself in vivid, eye-popping blues and reds, the Scitor's theme seemed to be 'drab and unremarkable'. Wild, sand-colored hair effectively contrasted Raghu's own straight, pitch-black locks. And so far, whereas Raghu had almost certainly by now drawn the most attention to himself, he could barely remember having seen Aleric at all during the boat ride; this was the first time he had heard the younger's boy's voice, in fact.

None of this really mattered, though, and Raghu's young mind barely touched upon it. Difference wasn't something he necessarily minded. Any remaining thoughts he had vanished when Aleric asked him about breath mages. For a second, Raghu was caught in a quandary. Did this kid want to a basic summary, or a full-blown explanation? Raghu possessed the verbosity to do either, but that in itself was an issue; 'breath mages' wasn't an official classification, more of a title he had invented on the spot for theatrical effect and to make a prominent first impression on the others.

These concerns were then washed away by Aleric's flood of questions. Though initially surprised by the eagerness of a guy who had been so quiet up until this point, Raghu was quick to realize that Aleric's interest was more than just cursory. Never one to throw away a chance to show off, Raghu abruptly stopped walking and began to speak.

First, he inhaled sharply. Not nearly deep enough to gather the amount loose aether necessary to be able to cast a spell, but enough for a blue-green glow to escape from his mouth every time he spoke. While he hadn't thought up a name for this little technique, Raghu knew it tended to impress, particularly littler kids. “Can you guess? Instead of using my mind to get and control magic, I use my lungs. When I breath in, I take in magic from my surroundings. When I breath out, I can do all sorts of neat things with it. Watch!”

Raghu inhaled deeply this time. The air streaming into his mouth became visible, a light green flow. Once full, Raghu turned his head skyward, and cupped his hands around his mouth. When he exhaled, the breath exploded from his mouth in a wave of force, moving upward and flattening out against a nearby wall. This rattled some frost free, causing it to sprinkle down a few feet away from the main group. “Pretty cool, right? I learned it in Dev, where I'm from. And yeah, wind element. Good guess.” He didn't seem to mind making a spectacle of himself.
If Keyblades' chars are approved, that makes three couples in this roleplay. Jokes on you guys, though; mine is literally inseparable.
Having had no sign that this world had anything to offer him in a long time, Cain would be glad to join Lethe's quest, though he doesn't believe that if the world's in danger, he'll be the one to save it. He's in it for the chance to return to his own world, and perhaps to take revenge on the goddesses that exiled his race by sabotaging their quest.

I hereby jokingly pledge 90% of my posts to mildly entertaining banter.
Not so far from the earth as the moon or stars, there hovered another light in the sky. Though not technically a celestial body, Union liked to think that it had one, and a wreath of golden fire certainly helped this image. Soaring high in the air on a peaceful night was something many angels took for granted, but Union's two minds seldom failed to appreciate the miracle of flight. Just now, however, was one of those times.

“I'm telling you, it's juked us again,” an irritated male voice bellowed over the rushing wind.
“And I'm telling you, have faith in me. We found it the other time; why so quick to give up now? We've only spent two days tracking it,” came a tired reply.
“This demon could be heading home to brood in a pit for all we know! I know we can't sense the oracles, but relying on demons to find them for us is a terrible idea!”
“Well, you allowed me to fly you about a hundred-fifty miles on that pretext, so it wasn't so bad back then.” Zoe paused. “Plus, your idea is way worse.”
“What!? Normal humans can't see or hear us, so if we make ourselves prominent than we'll attract whatever oracles are in the area! Makes perfect sense!”

Union ground to a halt. 5,000 feet below, there lay a fairly standard-looking town. From the air, all cities looked remarkably similar. This one was speckled with lights, none so resplendent as the angel's burning passion, but merry little smidgen of liveliness nonetheless. Both heads scanned the area, earth and sky alike, but neither saw the winged demon they had been following. “No way that mongrel outsped us,” Zoe muttered. Zander nodded his affirmation, his helmet masking his smile.
“That must mean it has taken refuge down there. Maybe it's found an oracle.”
Despite Zoe's tone, she was inwardly pleased that her partner had completely changed stances on her plan, and he knew it. “Whatever happened to the 'terrible idea'?” she wheedled.
“Eh, might as well check it out. We did trace it here, as you said. And you're tired.”
“No way. I could do this all night.”
Zander grinned—he knew what came next. “How about dinner?”
“Sounds good. You pay.”
“We share the same pool of cur..cash, rather.”
“What's gotten into you today? You're doing so much thinking compared to normal.”
“Less talking, more landing.”
“Get it? It's funny because I called you dumb.”
“I get the picture, Zoey.”

By this time Union had arrived. Descending the last few meters, the angel alighted on the pavement just beside a streetlamp. After a quick -and silent- look around to determine that nobody was in sight, Union's body began to glow softly. As its form lost definition it began to change. In the space of five seconds, the angel split in two, and when the light died down two perfectly normal humans stood where it had been. They instinctively checked themselves over to make sure that everything was in place; now that ordinary people could see them, maintaining the facade became an important priority. After a few moments, they started off down the street, hand in hand. “Now to find a place open at ten o' clock,” the man muttered. Keeping an eye out for their quarry went unsaid, but understood.

Ten minutes later, the couple had found their place. A lively-looking fast-food restaurant, coated in neon lights and tantalizing advertisements and comically located across the street from an expansive hospital clinic. This did not go unnoticed by Zoe. “Hey, the place of healing is within crawling distance.” While such humor was usually appreciated by Zander, he seemed unusually contemplative as the couple approached the restaurant. “I'm getting a bad feeling.”
“Oh, it's not worry about gluttony again is it? Remember, its we girls that need to watch our weight.”
Zander turned back to his partner's face, staring into Zoe's eyes. It was a privilege their true form did not permit him. “Not that I'm the one that needs to worry about gluttony. If it wasn't a sin, you'd be too fat to fly.”

She punched him. While he did almost stagger under the force of the strike, even in human form, his teasing went unabated. “Looks like I hit a nerve.”
“Shut up and order. We've got a demon to catch and oracles to find, remember?”
“Sure, sure.”

Preoccupied with friendly banter and attaining nourishment, neither half of Union noticed George Asprey across the street. They ordered their food (both small portions of grilled chicken and salad, accompanied by clear, reinvigorating water) and shared a compassionate meal.
You missed me in your recount there.
Really liking Ignavas. He gives me the impression that he could be a devastating foe if only he worked up the motivation to go to war. A latent despot, if you will.
Fairly average here.
Name:
Union (Zander and Zoe)
Race:
Angel of Compassion (Specifically, Union is a Power, meaning that it is tasked with maintaining the balance of power among mankind and inspiring conscience in mortals)
Gender:
Male/female
Age:
20

Appearance:
Disguised, Zander and Zoe appear as separate beings, both twenty years old. Zander is brown-eyed, with shaggy, shoulder-length blackhair and a pointed goatee, bearing glasses and ordinary clothes. His body is well trained, sporting a bit of bulk. Zoe is quite short, standing at only five feet, with long, feathery black hair parted in two over her shoulders, a slightly upturned nose, green eyes, and an athletic body-type. Both have notably pale skin. The two are very seldom apart, usually never leaving their partner's side.

In Union's natural form, it is quite different. Front the front, Zander appears to be a relatively normal, four-winged angel, standing at 6'4”. His marble-white skin is fairly muscular, but for the most part it is covered by a fancy brown robe split in two from the waist down. Beneath the robe he wears a doublet and pants, though these are hidden beneath golden greaves. He also wears a golden hauberk, pauldrons, and gauntlets. From the neck up, his face is hidden by a unique helmet.

When looked at from any other angle, however, Union's distinctiveness becomes clear. Zander and Zoe are effectively fused, back-to-back. Very strikingly, instead of arms and legs, Zoe has wings, the top two larger than the bottom two. These are Union's wings. Her torso is completely armored in a golden cuirass, which is an extension of the back of Zander's. Her own headpiece (since the heads are not conjoined) is a cowl, from which her long, black hair spills. The feathers of her wings are large and light-gray.

Personality:
Though Zander and Zoes' minds are separate, each with a distinct personality, they share a mental connection that allows them to work in harmony. Zander is outgoing, companionable to friends and brutal to enemies, hotheaded but also decently smart. Zoe, while no more intelligent than her counterpart, is more reserved, introverted, analytic, and prone to sarcasm. While near-opposites in many of their traits, they share a love for people and for each other, as well as a decent sense of humor. It is their joy to spark compassion in mortals, and they take their duty very seriously. That said, as a Power, Union is very combat-capable, and employs a unique brand of teamwork to accomplish its goals. Union tends to treat fallen and demons alike with contempt if not outright hostility, though it does have a streak of sympathy for the fallen. Demons receive due prejudice from Union, and don't need to do much to be attacked. While more powerful together, Union can interact better and in a more normal fashion when disguised, since in that form Zander and Zoe are split apart.

Abilities:
Burning Passion – Union can create and control a steady, yellow-tinged fire. This fire is very slow to spread, damaging only what it is directly applied to, meaning it'll never consume what it's not meant to. It can be made into blasts, beams, bombs, barriers, and more, proving very versatile. Union's fire has no effect on angels, including itself, but is devastating against darkness. Burning passion is a good medium for Union's empathy and manifests in the eyes of those under Union's influence; because of this, Union is far better at blessings humans when not disguised. Union's holy fire is, of course, invisible to ordinary humans, but because it can still hurt them it is risky to use in crowded areas.
Empowered Flight – With wings for arms and legs, Zoe is understandably good at flying. By incorporating burning passion each beat of her wings, Zoe allows Union to reach impressive speeds.
Empathy – Like all angels, Union can influence mortal minds in a positive way. While friendly connections made under Union's guidance are both powerful and enduring, actually creating love is something Union is unable to do.

History:
Raghu blinked. “The same boat...? Oh, hahaha! Nice one. Really fortuitous of me to run into someone so funny, huh? Hah! Run into!” His merry smile showed off his pearly white teeth as he chuckled. The opportunity to throw out a fancy“I slay myself. Gotta run, though.” Abruptly, he noticed that the girl had turned around, seemingly dismissing him. With a mollified glare at the back of her head, Raghu dashed passed her, intent on closing the final few meters between him and the rest of the group. Though he slipped several times, none proved serious and he quickly resumed his ascent on each occasion. He noticed as he neared the huddle of kids that the gulls had pretty much abandoned them; clearly, there was safety in numbers.

As one of the tallest in the group, Raghu didn't need to shoulder anyone aside to see Crythos. The bone-white hair and elaborate, ceremonial robe instantly impressed him, though Raghu was unable to get a good look at his face before his elder turned away to lead the students to the Crystal Tower. When the cluster began to move, Raghu followed on their heels. The walk proved to be somewhat irritating to him, since his strides were longer than most of the others, and his position at the back meant he had to pace himself. For one so eager to enter this legendary school of magic, patience came hard.

After a few moments, he heard a girl's voice. “My name's Elysia.” she said. Normally Raghu wouldn't have bothered to answer, since this 'Elysia' walked several feet in front of him, but the silence around him was becoming stifling. “Raghu Siddhartha!” He declared, nearly shouting. The awkward quiet that pervaded the children made his voice seem louder than it was. Undeterred, he continued. “Proud son of Dev and breath mage extraordinaire!” His unusual method of declaration would likely seem confusing to the others; they might very well interpret Dev to be his parent, where it was actually the city he grew up in. Such a thought didn't occur to him as he crossed his arms and flashed a wide, bold grin at anyone who looked his way.
