Bio
Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.
Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.
Heroes of Beacon is dedicated to Monty Oum, who passed away on the second of February, 2015. Our creative work here is a tribute to the man who inspired it all. Thank you, Monty Oum. We love you.
You ready to change the world? Well, this is the day you've been waiting for.
Let's boogie.
Basically this roleplay will follow the story line of RWBY: Volume 1. With added emphasis on school life and training for the tournament, which will later be revealed in Vol. 2, the RP will revolve around character development and will be open to plot changes and ideas from everyone who participates. There is no real script you have to follow, this is just supposed to be really fun. Move at your own pace to create your character and their story; do not expect to be hampered by deadlines, frustrating timeskips, or scheduled events.

Personality: (Ah, characterization. It has the potential to be as infinitely complex as the human mind itself, but short and sweet will do too. Your character's motivation should ideally go here. And it can't hurt to have some quirks!)
Color: (Pick one that hasn't been done...or at least, describe it in a new word. Just search 'shades of x color' on wikipedia)
Emblem: (describe with words, please)
Appearance: (you may use an image if so inclined, but even if you do, I'll still probably make one for you.)
Rules
1. Everyone should know the rules by now. I will try to be nice about them, but any stupidity is right out 2. Endeavor to be civil to your fellow rpers. It can be tough for a bunch of artists to work on the same painting, but the end result is all the more beautiful. 3. Casual standards please. At least a paragraph or two, and try to post at least once every few days if not more often. Nothing is more lethal to a roleplay than lackadaisicality. With this many people in one community, we should be THRIVING. 4. Do try to enjoy yourself, double-oh-seven. However, keep in mind that this is a semi-serious effort at good literature we're attempting. Not some platform for kinky fanfiction or fantasy. If your idea of fun is sexual/romantic themes, or any derivative thereof, and only that, that is not acceptable. There's a time and a place for romance, and it's not as a substitute for the core elements of RWBY. 5. If you are going to be incapable of posting for more than two days, you must let me know. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL. If you disappear without telling me your character has a very high chance of being wiped 6. While I am the only GM, I will try to be flexible. Should someone else prove they are capable enough and ask to be made Gm, I will surely consider it. 7. Excessive off-topic conversation will be met with unhappy frowns. Should that happen, there will be frowns all around. 8. Now that we're a little deeper into this story, I'm allowing players to control more than one player character. The limit will, however, be two. No more than that--except for me, of course!
On Fading Away
The hunters and huntresses of Remnant aren't the only ones doing battle against the forces of anonymity and obscurity. We as writers face them too, and they're far more difficult to pin down or address than a creature of Grimm. In terms of player count, Heroes of Beacon is massive, and while I truly want to provide an enjoyable and immersive experience for each and every one of you, it goes without saying that sometimes, people will be accidentally ignored, forgotten, or left behind. If this happens, please do not be afraid to speak out. To remedy the situation, follow these rules.
1. If you want to write your character interacting with someone, but your teammates are unable or unwilling to assist, let me or a co-gm know. One of us can try to set something up for you that'll hopefully satisfy. Additionally, it's a perfectly viable option to get in the OOC and say, "I'm looking for interaction, who's available?" Of course, if this doesn't work out, the first option should be fallen back upon 2. If your character gets 'stuck' in a position that limits your opportunities to write, let me or a co-gm know. We can try to work you out of it. An important, perhaps even critical aspect of this RP is that not everything happens linearly. A person may write of an event happening IC days ahead of the IC time at which everyone else is, for instance. The fluidity of time means that situations where you might feel locked out can be turned into opportunities 3. Above all, if you feel that you have been ignored or forgotten, speak out immediately. Don't sink back into the shadows, waiting for someone to notice you and speak out on your behalf, and then get upset down the line that nobody would reach out. Please bring yourself to our attention. In particular, use the @Mention feature to unavoidably call someone's focus. I feel terrible when people feel as though they are being excluded, and we are totally open to criticisms concerning not paying someone enough attention. My ideal RP would be one where everyone is active and included all the time, and to bring that closer to reality, do not be afraid to call attention to yourself
“Regardless, I did not come here to trade jibes. I wish to know the truth and full extent if your people's arrogance.”
A slight turn of Midna's head and a lazy lowering of her eyelids carried all the indication of patronization Ciela might want. Like many of those living in the light of the goddesses, that luminous glow that revealed every fault in others and blinded those in oneself, this fairy was a hypocrite. In the same sentence she denounced name-calling before proclaiming the entire Twili race to be arrogant. Suddenly nauseated by the self-righteousness smeared on Ciela's smile, she turned to look at the morning light trickling in through the window and found it infinitely more interesting. Dawn was a kind of twilight, too, though the herald of the coming day rather than the lonesome evening hours.
To Ciela's next words, Midna gave forth exactly the kind of condescension that she had expected. Rather than waste energy denying her unwelcome visitor, Midna decided to pretend that she had misunderstood. Her eyebrows shot up, and she stared, wide-eyed, down her nose at the irksome fairy. She truly does not understand how rude she's being, she concluded. If she's so much holier than me, should she be proving it by abstaining completely from common mudslinging? She stood still as Ciela paced around her, positioning herself between the Twilight Princess and the door. Does she mean to stop me..?
She did not think long before giving Ciela her answer. Her tone was deep and too rich, as if she were speaking to a child—no doubt the fairy would find that infuriating. “Never, I am afraid. Why, I am the first Twili to set foot in Hyrule in an eon. You would not believe how difficult it was to convince dad to get the Mirror working.” As if all of Ciela's inquiries were answered, she abruptly turned and walked over to the bucket of water whereby her robes were laid and placed them in to soak. She looked over her shoulder at Ciela, who seemed to be mercifully silent in thought. “You were just leaving, I hope?”

A clatter from the inn's bar echoed through the building, reaching every ear in the hallway and drawing a lot of eyes. Collapsed on the bar was the robed Twili Zant, face buried in the wood. Next to him lay a half-filled cup of unknown liquor, and around him stood several townsfolk, laughing uproariously. “These pale blokes must be the biggest lightweights in the whole kingdom!” One chortled, slapping the unconscious Zant on the back roughly. “One friendly bet and it's lights out!” The couple of men took stools on either side of the limp Twili, and continued to speak in a raised tone, clearly in good spirits. “Hope he don't get mad when he wakes up, though. My brother was at that deal by the fountain last night. Said this bloke fought the demon swordsman to a standstill.” From there, their conversation drifted into other subjects, while Zant merely drifted into a state of heightened snoring.
The themes don't necessarily need to be mythological of fairy-tale based, but it helps because those are some of the most rich. For future reference here is a list of prominent fairy-tale characters. Rumplestiltskin, Mary, Peter Pan, Hansel and Gretel, Maleficent, and Puss in Boots are already taken; that's all I really know.
I'm glad I have such an easy time coming up with a theme.
It's fairly obvious given his arc with his family.
Also for funsies I've added a section where you can post original ideas for Grimm at the bottom of the google doc. Add your own form of horrible soul destroying abominations there for maximum funtimes inspiration!
I just now checked the document. That's a lot of Grimm ideas
A shame they're going to go to waste.
I kid, I kid. I'll incorporate both the old ones and the new ones into the new Grand Bestiary.
Big news time
I want to promote two or three of you to Co-GM to help manage monsters, teachers, and so on. Literacy, organizational skills, and an online presence at least every other day are key. Anyone who wants in may tell me so on the document.
Also, if you take away his weapon, he can't perform his semblence properly. The clones and him won't get the boost unless all three of them are out, and the only way they can all be out at the same time is if he has a weapon that can transform into three specific things. His weapon works like his personality and his disorder. They're all the same person, yet they are not.
A sembalance is an innate ability specific and unique to a certain person. There is no reason its ability to be used should be halted by the user lacking a weapon. And I don't think the sembalance was what Lug was worried about I think it was the fact that you said your character could wield basically any weapon.
Well, on one hand it is entirely possible for a semblance to be diminished without a weapon. Abel's Surge is really only effective on hyperconductive objects, like the Ampere, so in order to do anything but shock people he touches he needs to wield his weapon. I was worried, not necessarily about his weapon or semblance, but about how he can perform any role needed. I'm going to accept your character Savo, but when you place him on a team, try to limit him to no more than two roles.
