The monk gave her friend a hug in return, but before she could really study or respond to Sonya, Dixon was over by them, shooing the crowd away by the way of commands. She had to admit it was a relief and the man seemed to catch sight of that, though the wink made her raise her eyebrow and just smirk. It was certainly flattering, though she wondered how far that'd truly go, if the man ever learned what sort of person Odessa was. Regardless, her attention turned back to Sonya, tilting her head slightly. With a slowly growing smile, she blushed slightly herself as she finally realized how shy the masked woman sounded, subtly thinking of why that might be. "Of course I'd keep my promise," she said with resolve. "I sort of.. see myself as your guardian now.. lest you refuse my self-appointed station." Odessa smirked, fairly confident that Sonya would not. "But yes, let's gather the camp and tend to the wounded as much as we can - we'll find each other later, aye?" Though Odessa still felt slightly at odds, she still knew things needed to be done.
Later...
Silas had gathered the group of warriors and sold them a pitch - to form a mercenary group. A lot of the team leaders were there, along with some of the more skilled and unique individuals (Sonya included, of course), making Odessa glance around. Taking slight notice of Stefano's stare, she pursed her lips and kept quiet for the most part, especially since he had given them all time to ponder the proposition. She wandered away slowly in thought. 'I don't do it for the coin though..' she said softly, folding her arms over her chest as she strolled around the edge of the camp. 'But it might give me an opportunity to do some good. At the least, I could honor Ashley.. hm.' Before long, she found herself briskly walking over to Sonya and waving her attention to gain the smaller woman's attention.
"So.. are you going to take their offer?" she asked. "I think I'd still be keen to be your acting guardian, if you did.. though I'd really hope they do good - real good - more so than other groups." She paused, weaving her fingers through her hair in thought. "I guess it's fair to share with you something - I had someone special.. her name was Ashley.. but, before anything could happen, she fell in battle." Her expression tinged in pain before letting out a small sigh. "Either way, I meant to honor her passing by doing good, like she always wanted. That's why I ended up joining this battle.. either way.. what do you think?" She let her arms down and looked intently at Sonya, mostly watching her body language since reading her expression was out of question. If it wasn't obvious by now Sonya could likely tell that Odessa, for some reason, was looking to her for an answer.
(Giggles) I'm here. Been super busy lately... setting up Health Insurance with the VA (was in the Air Force) and doing my Microsoft Office classes. Yep yep! Everything is going amazing too, by the way! I have a wife and girlfriend, so I'm poly, but... uh... yeah.. I recently met a boy, so.. ^///^
@Arthanus I might be, if you can suffer my somewhat slow posting pace... and the fact that I adore Star Wars, but my knowledge is honestly limited to the movies.. =X
Cecilia eyes lit up. "You sound a little like Samantha.. though she was more of a take charge sort of woman.. and didn't need me to be confident - though as people started to look up to me, so did she." Slowly she stood up and shrugged lightly. "I never did understand what people saw in me though. Sam said it was this 'undeniable light,' like I was some sort of beacon of hope for everyone.. I don't know, I just did what I thought needed to be done.." Taking a deep breath, she then smiled to Kali, giving her a thoughtful glance. "Regardless.. I am glad it is you who stuck by me thus far. I will do what I can to help you become the warrior that I see you becoming.. there's a lot you can learn from her Cord." She gestured to the bow, implying that the bow could somehow teach Kali techniques of some sort. "For now, let's find an inn.. let you rest." Biting her lips lightly, she turned to lead the way confidently. In Lakewood, a nearby town.. Cecilia stood in front of the Lion's Den, the only inn the town had to offer, but despite it being in the late afternoon - it seemed to be bustling with activity. Though not overly crowded as one might imagine at night, there was still plenty of talk, that it's sounds floated outside the door. The goddess glanced back to Kali with a soft smile and pushed the door, walking inside the wooden building. Though Cecilia had a presence that was not easily ignored, most of the bystanders could not hope to guess 'what' she was and thus only gave her a few moments of a stare before returning to their conversations. Cecilia was glad for this, never one wanting to draw attention in her modesty, and took a seat near the corner. Though she was certainly of a darker tone than most of the patrons of the tavern, she didn't stand out as much as one might think, leading to the waitress asking her causally what they both wanted to drink - the goddess simply asked for any juice they could find.
However, before too long, a fire-hair woman had started to wander over to the pair. She smiled, though it was more of a smirk as she leaned against the back of an empty chair. "Hello ladies.." she began, winking specifically to Cecilia which spurred a blink of surprise from the goddess. "What is a beautiful thing like you doing in this small town?" The redhead wasted no time in inviting herself, sitting right next to the goddess and leaning just slightly in as she reached out to play with a single strand of the goddess' hair. The woman seemed fairly attractive herself, though she dressed more or less like a bard, a flute tied to her waist - and she was not shy.
Cecilia on the other hand, even despite her station, flushed softly and pulled back just a bit. "Um.." Her gaze went over to Kali, wandering what the archer would do, almost looking to her for aid. ".. just.. visiting.. looking for work." It would almost be cute, the way Cecilia was beginning to blush, if she didn't also look slightly uncomfortable - though she didn't seem to mind the attention either, giving Kali a few mixed signals.
The bard seemed quick on her toes and pulled back, grinning widely. "Oh? I have some work you could do for me.. we'd need to discuss it in private though.. in my room upstairs, if that's not too troubling?" She gave Cecilia a wink, laying one of her arms over the back of her own chair and gently poking Cecilia's own chair.
Thought it'd be fun to include some conflict of the romantic nature! Oh! What will Kali do? An attractive redhead is hitting on her goddess! xD Also, with the bow teaching her techniques, was my way of saying you can come up with whatever you want for it's unique powers outside of magical arrows!
As the noble woman continued to direct the survivors, she turned back as the orcs stopped cheering, watching one of the heads roll across the make-shift arena. Silas challenged them but before long, they had all started to turn tail, leaving the men around her cheering and smiling in relief - while others still yet mourned for the dead. She herself let out a sigh in relief, having not felt she was fit for taking such a leadership role, not able to pass the mantle back to Silas and Dixon. Despite the sudden turn of events, men were still coming to her however, asking what to do or where to make camp. Truth be told, this surprised the martial artist, but she kept her head and directed them to pull back a little and make what arrangements they could for the fallen.
While on the other hand, her attention turned to Sonya, who looked equally relieved and somewhat exhausted, but alive. For that, Odessa was eternally grateful. She had kept her promise and saw the masked woman through the worst of it, she figured, and smiled with some amount of pride to herself. Asking Silas to keep the mage near her was a good call, she figured, especially since it meant that Silas was always her priority. Beyond that though, she allowed tingles to run down her spine once more as she remember the connection they had so clearly shared before - and even during - battle. Odessa knew what she had hoped for, as a potential outcome, but the idea of it ever happening was far from her reality and lived only as daydreams. Still, in some ways she reminded her of Ashley, though the soldier was far more forward and seemingly confident. Was Sonya as confident? Perhaps so, but only time would tell.
Still her eyes gazed across the field as several of the men went about different duties. Obviously the most notable were the dancer, who was helping Silas, the knight, who distanced himself (and didn't care much for the dancer), a solider talking to one of the healers, the man with the strange fire weapon, and then obviously Silas and Sonya. Though Dixon was to be counted as well, she had not seen him do much besides protect that one woman during battle. Still, she wondered if Silas had taken notice of the select few, besides his own unit. In truth, she was anxious to talk with him, seeing as a lot of the men seemed to be going to her in the wake of victory.
I have nothing funny to contribute. Only that Odessa would smirk and enjoy the show... maybe break out the popcorn. xD Though tease her about Sonya and well.. xD
