I love creating writing and I am here to practice the art form.
I'm in nursing school and I am a husband to a beautiful woman and a father to an active 1 year old. I'm new to this type of Roleplaying but I'm excited to play. Hit me up, make me your friend, I'm generally always up to roleplay.
i'll throw in my hat as a misthios from the distant land of serica.
Very awesome and happy to have you aboard! when you can please go ahead and prepare a character sheet And send it to me as a PM, there is of course no rush because no one else is signed on yet, when the OOC goes up the character sheets minus your stat distribution will go into the IC section as one of the fighters. Your character sheet should include the general information mentioned above as well as a personal story and anything else that you would like to create.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask
There are parts still in the works, I won't say it's 100% complete until we are fighting, but this is a good place to start.
I've been in conversation with the Mods and they are willing to work with us so that this can become a credited tournament. That means that your fights can be judged and recorded on your arena stat in your member profile.
If you are like me and feel excited to start a fight, PM me or put a message on the board. I wanna get this party started!!
Blessing: The Gods are alive in Greece, one of them will bless you in your fight
These stats are for narrative purposes; instead of there being a very black and white application of the numbers, you are responsible for incorporating the stat into your fight, and the round judge is able to use the stats to judge an outcome of a disputed action. This system works intuitively, so if it feels like it makes sense to you, then it should make sense to everyone.

Physical Description: 5'11, lean and athletic. He has a hard, serious face and hands calloused from farm work. His body seems designed to run long distances and dig in the dirt.
Squad Role: Rifleman
Rank: Private First Class
Equipment: Standard issue uniform, rifle, and side arm. He has a old 24" machete that he brought from home and a regulation tactical knife he keeps strapped to his thigh. He also has on old compass that was passed down from his great grandfather, who was a slave, and a book of philosophy called The Secret Teachings of All Ages that he carries with him like a Bible.
Skills: He grew up working on a farm so he has a habit of waking up early and working late into the day. He has spent a lot of time with the quiet fields and has become a thoughtful soul, so he likes to think before he speaks or acts, a habit that sometimes makes him appear slow when people expect him to answer quickly. He knows how to navigate using the compass and a map, and he grew up singing Barbershop style with his dad and some of the guys in town. He's was a crack shot with the old bolt action rifle his daddy used to hunt with, and he knows the ins and outs of agriculture.
Flaws: He is young and naïve, he tends to follow more than lead. He has a meek self image and is servile to leadership. Sometimes he gets a hot head and barrels himself into trouble.
Fears: He's afraid of not being good enough, or that something is inherently wrong with him. His mother died when he was 11 and he blames himself. He also thinks his father is a coward and he's afraid that he might be one too.
Personality: Quiet and friendly. He loves to sing, and performing has taken away certain feelings of shyness that come naturally to most people. He believes in America and in the principle of the American dream and will not hesitate to defend his country. He can be angry, but he is not an angry person. People would say he seems intense.
Personal History: Duke comes from a long line of farmers; he grew up on the land that his grandfather was able to procure from their ancestors slave owners, so he feels a deep connection to the property. Growing up on a farm he learned the habit of waking up early and working very hard, but his mother insisted on raising him with a strong focus on education, so he learned to love to read. His favorite book is an old book of philosophy that he "borrowed" from the local library of his home town. Studying philosophy is how he learned how to think and to become his own man.
When he was 11 his mother was lynched by a group of Klu Klux Klan members as she was walking home from her job as a school teacher. Duke was furious, and terrified. His father wouldn't do anything about it and refused to discuss it other than to say, "ain't nothing we can do boy, we is born the way we is born, and they was born the way they was born. It's the natural way a' things, the strong eat the weak."
When he turned 14 his father moved to New York and remarried, but Duke stayed behind, intent on trying to keep the farm. When the situation became hopeless and he knew the bank was going to take his property, he figured out how to falsify his birth records to show he was born in 1949 instead of 1953; that was how he was able to get into the military. He figured that through the military he could make a new life for himself, and he wants to make America the beautiful and free place that he imagines it was supposed to be.
He excelled in training because of his hard work, focus, and fitness. They brought him over to Vietnam six months ago and he's been working patrol duty in Hanoi. He just got reassigned to a new squad and was about to see some real action. He's not to keen on killing people, but if it serves the greater good he's willing to do whatever it takes.
"My Oh My," said the grizzled Doctor sitting lazily behind his desk, "aren't you just a sweet... thing. We found you over two weeks ago, do you know that? It's nice to see that you've finally woken up." He leered at Nala like she was a lab rat. She narrowed her eyes, uncertain of how to proceed. The ball in her stomach was an ever present reminder that she was dangerous if she lost control, but she still wanted out of this hell-hole in spite of that fact. For the time being this doctor had all the power, she was confined to a strait jacket that was bolted onto hooks in the floor.
"I didn't know when I got here, sir," she said politely, "I appreciate you meeting with me though, Doctor....." She bowed her head in a gesture of deferral and tried to hide her accent. Most people she'd come across didn't take kindly to anyone they thought was from another country.
"Don't mention it," the man said blankly, "Doctor Philips by the way. I'm Doctor Philips, and you are?"
"Nala," she said, "Nala Aiseir, sir."
"What's the last thing you remember, Nala Aiseir?"
"Well," she had stayed up most of the night thinking about how to say this without giving away too much, "My family is from New York and we were traveling west to spread the good news of our Lord and Savior Je.." the pain in her stomach suddenly became very intense and she winced, "...our Lord and Savior to the good people who live out that way. We were going to build a church." She smiled hopefully.
"A church out west you say," the doctor took a long pause, "do you know where your family is now?"
Nala swallowed, "We were attacked on the trail by wolf-men... men-wolfs... monsters, sir. I don't know if any of my family is still alive."
The Doctor took his time to reply, he didn't seem to be in any rush to continue. "Werewolves," he said, "the men-wolfs, as you call them, are werewolves, and a there are a great many in this town. Does that bother you?"
"Well, I mean, if they aren't the same ones who attacked me, I guess, I mean, I wouldn't know would I? But if they're in a city I'd think they were not so wild... right?"
The Doctor impassively rocked in his chair, inspecting Nala like a puzzle he had to solve. "No," he said finally, "I guess not." He paused, and then leaned forward on his desk, "Did you attack your caravan and kill your parents, Nala?"
Nala blinked in surprise, "What NO! Aye, ya' cunt what ails ya'?! Askin' a question loike that?" her accent had slipped out and she inwardly kicked herself. "I'm sorry, I mean, I loved my family and I wouldn't, I'm not a violent person."
"Uh-huh," the doctor said, staring blankly at Nala and not moving a muscle. Nala was starting to feel very uncomfortable when he suddenly came back to life, "Well, Ms. Aiseir, you were found wondering, delirious, covered in blood and severely injured. We thought you maniacal when you arrived in the state you were in, that's why you were brought to us for evaluation and treatment. Do you understand?" Nala nodded. "Now that you are awake and... functioning, I can see that you are of a solid enough mind. The combination of your presentation and story gives evidence of a diagnosis that is supported by current research on the affects traumatic events can have on a person's psyche, so it's not inconceivable that you were experiencing a sort of, fugue state elicited by observing the horrendous murder of your family and companions." He seemed to be talking more to himself than to her. "Did you get all that Darla?" Suddenly a nurse walked from behind Nala carrying a clipboard and and pencil.
"Yes Doctor," she said professionally.
"Goooood," he langured, "good. Ms. Aiseir," her eyes widened at the mention of her name, "would you like to go home?" The doctor smiled slightly for the first time during the interview.
"...yes, Yes! Absolutely! Please! Though, I don't really have a home to go to." The words escaped her mouth before she had a chance to stop them. The Doctor nodded as if he had already considered this and was prepared to answer.
"That is lamentable, but there is a place for you here," he said.
"In.. in the Sanatorium?" she said mournfully, the thought of being stuck in this awful place made her stomach ache even more. She bent over at the pain, then concentrated on pushing the demon back down lest it take over and she looses whatever chance she had of getting out of this place.
"No," said the Doctor, "we have no use for a young, virile woman such as yourself. Only women of the cloth work here, so as to protect them from the ravages of the inhabitants. No, there is a better place. Darla?" The young nun perked up at her name, "Please send word to Mrs. Adelaide Kane that we have a young woman in need of work and a place to stay." The nun's eyes opened wide in surprise but for only a moment before settling into a sardonic expression.
"Of course Doctor, as you wish." She said, then she left the room.
"Ade- who?" Nala said, scrunching her eyebrows questioningly.
"You will see Ms. Aiseir," Doctor Philips said, leaning back in his chair, "all will be well."
Nala is being let out to go work at the brothel in Sinner's Den.
Sorry for the delay guys, I was working on a submission for the contest and that took a little bit more time than I expected. But the very next thing I post on this website is going to be in this thread, so I'm hoping by tonight before bedtime
