"Oh, um...you too?" Leo raised an eyebrow as they walked away, surprised at the older teen's sudden politeness. Huh, kind of a shame honestly. There were such skilled opponents, if they had been so polite from the start, he wouldn't have minded letting them stay from the very beginning.

"Be..." Leo's eyes darted from Flabia to his supply bag as he heard his pokemon's cry. He quickly got out another potion and healed the Flabebe's wounds. For such a little thing, it sure was resilient. He beamed a smile at his new companion and the little fairy returned it right back to him. "Great job, Bee! That was great for your first battle." He pet the Flabebe with his index finger, who nuzzled up to his head, only to give him a look of confusion at the new nickname.

"Oh yeah, Flabia sounds kinda long...and funny. Bee sounds a bit nicer, I think. You like it?"

"Be! Be!" The Flabebe cheered out as it landed softly on his head. His face was practically cramped from how hard he was smiling. Even Nado could see that it was a job well done and cried out accordingly. Gira was still sort of silent, though. Stuff like this could take time, he supposed.

"Oh, almost forgot." Leo turned to his battle partner as the latter started speaking to him. "Nice meeting you, name's Leo. You and that Squirtle of yours were really good out there, you must be proud. Are you from Kanto or something?"

"...What?" Leo raised an eyebrow at the duo. Not only were they rude and infuriated, but they had the gall to stroll up to them and demand they got off their "turf". He scoffed at them. "One: I'd like to think that if you had actually been here we'd have seen some trace of you here. Two: you're out of your mind if you think we'd ever listen with those tones of yours. Three: act your age, you're both a bit old to be dressing in all black and failing to intimidate a group of kids, don't you think?" He rolled his eyes by the end of his drawn out rant and gestured Flabia in front of them.

"But we can settle this with a battle. We win, we stay. We lose, you get 'your'," he emphasized his words with huge air quotes, "turf back." Leo turned to his traveling companions.

"Anyone feel like helping me out? No pressure, Gira's in tip top shape."

"You know if you ever need help with dinner I could always...Chance? What happened to you?" Leo squinted his eyes to better observe the older boy's injuries. He looked like he had been mauled! He thought back to earlier that day and widened his eyes as if having a sudden epiphany. Did Chance need help with training his pokemon? He was all for training himself along with his pokemon, but not to the overboard extent of Chance. "Training with your pokemon is admirable and all, but you aren't supposed to train with them. You'll be dead before the week's over."

From the bruises covering his entire body, he could only assume that Chance made himself his Skitty's sparring partner to better help her train. As foolhardy as that sounded, he couldn't help but gain a tremendous amount of respect for the seemingly timid older boy. Assuming he wasn't completely off the mark, of course. He did find it strange that there was a suspicious lack of scratch marks on Chance. Surely the Skitty would have scratched him if they were training together?

"A battle? Mmm...alright. How about a multi battle after dinner?" Leo took off his bad and pulled out a decently sized container. Inside the container was a full batch of Leo's Homemade Pokemon Food™, made by Leo and occasionally for Leo. He took out three bowls from his bag and placed them onto the floor. He filled all three up with his signature dish and Nado plunged headfirst into his bowl. "Flabia? Time to eat." He gently poked at the Flabebe still resting on his head to wake it up. It yawned gently, briefly appearing drowsy, only for its expression to light up the second it caught a whiff of its meal. Leo stared blankly at Gira, who seemed far more reluctant to accept. Leo frowned at the pokemon disapprovingly. Eventually, it got uncomfortable to the point where it started eating just to get the boy to stop shooting him dirty looks. It seemed pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food.

"Oh, Nado?" Nado stopped eating to look up at its trainer. "You did good for today, but you'll need rest for tomorrow. Leave this match to Flabia, alright?"

The Gible looked nearly heartbroken at the request, but cried weakly to show its acceptance.

"Hm? That a yes, then?" Leo raised an eyebrow in confusion. The Flabébe nodded her head happily, Nado did the same in joy.

"Heh. Glad to hear it little I'm gonna guess lady. That's what the red symbol in the dex meant, right?" Leo opened up a palm and let the fairy climb onto it. He stroked the top of her head with his index finger. He then dug through his pockets and expanded a minimized pokeball. "Wait...I guess I should give you a name right? Let's see...um? Bebe? Flabi? Fairy thing? Flower thing? Flabia?"

Flabébé let out a cry when he mentioned the name "Flabia".

"Really? That one? Well, it's your name, I guess. Welcome aboard Flabia!" Leo expanded the pokeball and let its red light contain Flabia within it. Rather than shake, the ball's center lighted up red, then went back to gray. Immediately after, Leo took it out of its ball, as it was more of a standard ritual they had to go through than anything else. He really disliked putting his pokemon away unless it was an absolute necessity.

"C'mon, you can just stay on my shoulder for now." Instead, Flabia floated up to Leo's head and closed her eyes comfortably on his head, not releasing her grip on her flower for a single moment. "Or you can do that."

"We should probably introduce ourselves to our other party member, huh, Nado?" Nado did not reply to his trainer's questions. He was a bit hesitant to see that stupid tail again.

"What, scared of getting your horns ripped off?" Leo teased his tiny companion. "Whether you like it or not, we have to see the guy. This is still a team effort." Again, no response.

"Stubborn little...come on out!" Leo threw the Girafarig's pokeball into the air. It looked towards him with apprehension, but dared not run away. A look of fear was evident in its eyes.

"Calm down, I can't exactly heal you if you'll run at the drop of a hat." Leo sprayed the potion onto the Girafarig and watched as it was healed right before his eyes. "For you two, how do Gira and Frig sound."

No answer. Leo sighed. At least he tried coming up with good nicknames...

"I'll take that as a yes. Nado, lead the way." The Gible caught a whiff of the scents of the other three trainers and started running like a madman. Leo rushed once more to keep up with him while Gira reluctantly did the same.

On their way there, they spotted an injured Exeggcute. A bunch of them, rather. Out of compassion, Leo healed the pokemon with another one of his potions. Fighting against an injured foe seemed plain wrong, anyway.

"Come see me tomorrow for a fight, will ya?" And with that, Leo left the mon completely alone. He could tell it had a rough day.

--------------------

"Hey, I was wondering where you guys disappeared." Leo greeted his traveling partners, feeling very proud to show them all the pokemon he caught. He glanced over at the meal Chance was preparing. Huh. It would feel weird to eat something he didn't make on his own, that much was for sure. "Catch anything new?"

Leo looked down at the tiny pokemon on the floor somewhat curiously. He had to admit, the thing looked adorable. Once more, he pulled out his pokedex and scanned the tiny creature.

"Flabébé, the Single Bloom Pokémon. It draws out and controls the hidden power of flowers. The flower Flabébé holds is most likely part of its body." Not much information compared to the Girafarig they had fought just moments before. Was it newly discovered or something? It felt almost sinful to even consider attacking the thing, the tiny thing looked practically defenseless, far more suited to be a pet than a fighter. He would rather not fight it. Nado seemed to share his sentiments and did not seem to have the same hostility he had for the Girafarig--Girafarig's tail, rather.

"'Scuse me little guy...maybe lady?" Leo crouched down and spoke at Flabébé as gently as he could. "Um...you don't exactly look like you're that big on fighting, but would you be fine with coming along with us on our journey?"

Hey, not everything had to be a battle. Sometimes, even just kind words could win a pokemon's trust. He felt it only right to back off if the little thing would rather have nothing to do with him.
Route 9 : Road to Amalgam University

"Whoa." Leo's eyes widened as the Skitty leapt on his shoulder and he immediately turned his head around to look at it, only to once again look forward as it began purring into his neck. His cold demeanor melted nigh instantaneously. Try as he might, it was practically impossible for him to ward off the smile that was appearing on his face. He covered his mouth to hide his big, goofy grin until it was nothing more than a tiny smile. He then gently pet the Skitty and chuckled along with its trainer.

"You're lucky to have such a nice Skitty, you know." Leo's expression turned more puzzled when he heard Chance's words. "Get some help? With what?"

Nado leapt for joy at the Rockruff's proposal, almost completely ignoring the fact that his trainer was totally getting comfy with some pokemon who wasn't him. On any normal occasion, he'd be half tempted to bite the boy's hand, but he was just too happy! But...he was always happy, right? So would that make this a normal occasion? Did that mean he'd have to bite his trainer after all? Luna's chase for her trainer completely destroyed Nado's train of thought, prompting him to rush after her.

Leo's body became oddly stiff when he heard Lusi's yelling. He placed the Skitty down to the floor and rubbed his ears. She had strong lungs, that much was for sure.

"Well, she definitely looks like she'll have plenty of fun on the journey." Leo replied back to Sadie. He stood up from his crouched position and immediately went to chase after his Gible, but not before saying a few more words to Chance.

"Sorry, but would you mind telling me about your problems while we're running? Nado, get back here!"

"Hm?" Leo looked at the evidently older girl and simply nodded his head in acknowledgment. It felt weird being praised for winning battles. His father was hard to truly impress and most of the neighborhood kids knew him well as the "Cheater" for using Nado's Dragon Rage attack to quickly finish almost any battle. Did he take immense satisfaction from all the victories? Definitely. Did he enjoy the great loss of friends he had after battling them. Nope. Nado seemed much happier at the praise, as was usually the case. "Uh, thanks. Name's Leo."

Nado stared blankly as Luna pet his face with her paw. He stayed silent for a second, as if considering its options. Slowly it extended out its hand to the Rockruff and attempted to pet it in a similar fashion. Unfortunately, its stumpy arms were much too short to even consider touching the other creature without a boost in height. And so it tipped on its toes, tripping on its face before it could get even one pet in. Leo put the little creature up to its feet, briefly avoiding the gaze of the other trainers. He loved Nado to death, but the little guy could be a ditz sometimes.

He couldn't help but feel a bit out of place when people started discussing traveling options. He felt like he was intruding on something. Did they mean to tie him along, too? Mm. Well, he supposed it couldn't hurt anyone if they did go together, as long as they had similar plans.

"Mind if I take a look?" He crouched right next to the boy, leaving Nado to his own devices as he observed all the possible locations they had to explore. He had read up on the locations quite a bit and the ones that interested him the most were the Temple and the University. Both for personal reasons. Part of him wanted to check out the temple first, but he doubted he would find what he wanted there. "I think heading to the Amalgam university would be a good place to start. I've been meaning to look for some good bug pokemon for awhile now."

He pointed towards his place of interest. It was kind of taking everything in his power to avoid suggesting they go to Brittanium. The gym leader there, Estella, would mop the floor with Nado, realistically. But he wasn't interested in a battle with her just yet. Let's just say that his "siblings" really wanted an autograph from Estella, as she was a very popular idol even as far away as Sinnoh. His "siblings" would be incredibly disappointed if he--they, couldn't manage to get a few autographs from her. Good and kind brother that he was, what choice did he have?

Leo saw the injured Rockruff crawl back to its trainer and couldn't help but feel bad for the thing. Nado was also disappointed that they wouldn't give their battle a proper conclusion and let a saddened cry out to its trainer, who was already taking out a potion to heal the minor injury that his Gible had received as well as the poor Rockruff that they had fought. Maybe he had let his temper get the best of him too easily. Before he could even offer to heal either of them up, the professor's son had already pointed out a healing station a short distance away.

"I 'preciate it, your pokemon was pretty good out there. I'll keep an out for you."

"Bible!" Nado cried out in shock and jealousy as its trainer seemingly forgot to compliment his efforts during the match.

"What?" Leo picked the Gible up with both of his hands, smiling at it as the creature looked back at him with squinted eyes. "You always do good. No point in me telling you what you already know, right? Let's get you healed up, alright?" The Gible happily buried itself in its trainers embrace as it was carried over to the healing station.

"You'll be out in a sec." Leo returned his companion into its poke ball and handed him over to the nurse for healing. As promised, it was out and about soon thereafter, now with reinvigorated energy. He hoped the registration line wasn't too bad, that battle must've taken some time. Although they had lost, he still felt it right to congratulate the opposing trainers for a job well done, at least with a handshake. Not many had been able to survive so long against Nado. They lacked manners, but he wasn't so thick that he couldn't recognize skill when he saw it. He at least wanted their names.

Outside the Lab-Beryllium City

Leo had finished registering for the League and was officially ready to start his journey. It was a big step forward, but Nado's cheerful demeanor was more than enough to quell his nerves.

"Is that..." Leo squinted his eyes to see the same trainer girl from before talking to a boy and a girl. He gestured for Nado to follow along with him as he reached the girl. He politely cleared his throat as to bring his former opponent's attention to him.

"Sorry for the interruption, but I just wanted to say that we had a good battle. You and the other man lasted much longer than I expected." Leo closed his eyes to give her a short bow of respect. Nado gave the Rockruff a simple cheer to congratulate it, only to imitate its trainer after Leo opened his eye to take a sideways glance at it.
Actually quick question Shade. For out fight. Any thoughts on how we should do the battle? Like a Doc or bucket?
