Ciell sifted through her tablet as she changed into a more casual outfit, though the underlying pilot-suit remained all the same. Fashion wasn't her strongest point, practicality and comfort dominated her wardrobe and as such her small closet held few colorful pieces. Blacks, whites and grays did the job well enough, although she'd be lying if she said she didn't avoid plain white clothes when she could. Her skin was drained enough looking without the accentuation of shirts and pants that looked as though they were mere extensions of herself.

A message popped up, followed by another. The first came from someone named Hayden, announcing his departure to the mech bay and the timetable for dinner. She guess that was the bionic boy's name. The second came from one of the routine engineers on her Paladin, letting her know that the Mirror system had been tweaked and was experiencing issues. Though no explicit request for her presence was made, Ciell made it a point to be around for any and all updates to her mech that could affect its -and by extension her own- performance. So, pulling a coat over her shoulders she left her room and made for the elevator at the end of the hall.

The boy was there as well, only confirming his identity as Hayden. All the better, it would save her an awkward introduction with him later on if the need for a name arose. She struck an arm into the doorway of the lift to halt its shutting and got in, offering a wordless nod to him before turning her eyes forward once again for the descent.

Ciell was not present for the greeting ceremony, nor was she present for the divvying of rooms and roommates until the process had been completed. This was not due in any part to laziness or forgetfulness, the simple matter was that she'd already been briefed on her schedule. Her room had been assigned, her classes planned out, her day had no tied-in obligations. That being said she spent the free time doing exactly what she did every day, she did her laps, sparred in the gym, and decided to observe a match in the arena rather than run a simulation. Mother had always said that watching other soldiers fight was always a good way to compare one's own abilities, even if not in a direct manner.

To be honest, she found the event dull. Many of the combatants were either young-bloods trying to prove themselves to their fellow students, or old soldiers with too much experience to be challenged by lesser opponents. While watching rookies fumble with controls they didn't fully understand proved humorous, roughly ten minutes into her visit she lost the will to stay. Oh well, there were slow days now and then, the arena had provided incredible opportunity before, and what with the new, incoming students, she was sure a few worthy individuals would rise to the top. Or as close as they could get to the top after she herself was there, anyway.

Upon arriving at the designated hall, Ciell spotted a boy she only vaguely recognized from the testing grounds. She knew neither his name nor his year, but the mechanical limbs were unmistakable. He looked young which made his injuries even more of a pity, but if he'd lived this long then he'd likely gotten over it. Either way, seeing as he was the only one present from Tranquility, she figured he was in charge of student check-in.

"Ciell Macci, checking in," she said to him, then proceeded dutifully to her room. Food would be in order soon, but being the hectic day that it was, it wouldn't surprise her if everyone's schedule was mixed around.

Appearance: A life dedicated to training has left Ciell with a lean, athletic form. An albino, her skin is chalk-white, her long hair a similar color, and her eyes holding a red-violet hue. She has a hard gaze and straight posture, like a soldier constantly at attention. Despite this, she’s prone to wearing civilian clothes when things are quiet, however no matter what the outer layer, she’s never without the form-fitting pilot suit below it all.

Personality: Cold and dismissive to anyone that isn’t her superior, compliant and dutiful to all others with an underlying layer of competitiveness beneath everything. Ciell makes a good soldier and little else. Though not prone to recreation, she took up dance in her early teens as an approved extracurricular exercise by her mother.

History: Ciell’s parents were exceptional pilots, with both the passion and skills to excel in their suits. However bad luck proved to be the stronger force when her father’s prototype mech malfunctioned, resulting in a detonation of its core and the death of both himself and the nearby scientists monitoring his run.
Shortly after, Ciell was born and her mother decided early on the girl was fated to be pilot. But unlike her father, she would not be dabbling in technology that she could not directly control, and thus she was relegated to the Paladin-class.
For years when she wasn’t running simulations, she was training under the iron fist of her mother’s regime. This worked until she was fifteen, when Ciell suffered a sudden and crippling anxiety attack whilst piloting. Psychologists were quick to point the finger at her mother’s harsh parenting, but Ciell claimed that the AI integration had been the source. With no agreed-upon cause, the girl was released and continued training without incident for the next two years, until present.

Mech

Planet of origin: Tranquility

Model: Paladin

Preferred weapon(s): The Mirror: An inward-curving field of visible magnetic energy that hovers close behind the mech and travels from one shoulder to the other. Upon activation the Mirror’s ideal function would be to draw an incoming projectile into one end of the field, use its momentum to slingshot it across to the other end and rocket it back towards the direction of origin. However, the Mirror is experimental, and in addition to being useable only in instantaneous bursts, the system as a whole has a chance to falter. In such cases, the projectile could burn up in the field, break away and travel in an unintended direction, or simply be unaffected and damage the mech directly. As well, the Mirror is only capable of reflecting projectiles from the front, attacks from the side/behind will be unaffected.

Mech Axe: A single-bladed energy axe, with a staff that runs roughly the height of the mech. The back of the blade as well as the end of the axe are equipped with boosters designed to propel swings against heavily armored targets for a chance at causing more damage, as well as adding to the Paladin-class mech’s inherent mobility.

AI personality: While originally designed to be a snappy and sarcastic unit, after Ciell’s incident two years prior, Eckerd’s core personality was overwritten. Now the AI serves the same managerial purposes, minus any and all emotion. As such, the AI/Pilot mental mesh turns Ciell’s mind into a veritable machine, capable of analyzing both the minute systems of her mech as well as the battlefield in perfect synchronization.
