Ugh... Trump supporters and anti-environmentalists. I honestly did expect Trump supports... but the statement you just made? I'm appalled.

<Snipped quote>

Holy shit. I'm terrified. Statements like this strike fear in me. I've never been so ashamed to be part of the human race. I would gladly be a mosquito right now over this human form I share with people like these. I would have more pride over sharing a planet with a person who could think something so stupid. Is that a bad thing? Seriously?

Short answer: Yes, that is a very bad thing.

Trump supporters are honestly the worst, morally depraved people that I've ever had the misfortune to share this society with. It looks like the planet has to be literally destroyed, the Bill of Humans Rights torn apart and all the freedoms that we are privileged with today to be taken away before people honestly wake up.

I've already learned my lesson many, many, many times. No matter what you do or what you say, Trump supporters can not be argued with. It's Scientology all over again, and everyone is drinking the kool-aid. I know people who are experts on cults and the mind control tactics used to keep a tight agenda on their lives. I know that cult member's lives have to be destroyed and then some before people start waking up to the truth and consequence. Trumpism is a personality cult, and that is not hyperbole.

To the person who asked that question: Future generations are going to hate you. I mean, absolutely despise you. Are you happy with the legacy being left behind, and the planet that our grandchildren will be left with?

I'll just leave this here, though I doubt one video will break through the clouds of Trumpism. At this point, I don't think anything can. Anything. Not until the Man himself shows his true Jim Jones colors. I strongly doubt that anyone would bother to pick up a book these days, but whatever.

So for the record, I found about thirty statements in that clipping right there that prove beyond all shadow of a doubt -- simply by their utterance -- that we really need a Donald Trump in the White House right now. But I'm not gonna take this into an argumentative direction, I'm simply going to make one single point -- one point, that's all -- and go home. Take it, leave it, I don't care -- read it and if it takes four years to land, so be it. But I want this to stick in your mind:

I know people who are experts on cults and the mind control tactics used to keep a tight agenda on their lives. I know that cult member's lives have to be destroyed and then some before people start waking up to the truth and consequence. Trumpism is a personality cult, and that is not hyperbole.

You've been kept on a few tight agendas (they typically end in 'ism' -- environment, femin, etc.) Like a lot of the protesters milling about (not the paid ones, the regular ones), you're feeling a bit destroyed by the outcome perhaps. Perhaps in the next few months/years, you (and others) may begin waking up to the truth and consequences? It could happen. MY SINGULAR POINT BEING -- Trump is not the cult. Trump is the ATF in this scenario. Google Waco. The ATF did not handle anything particularly well, so let's hope he's better at it but..... they weren't the ones serving cool-aid.

Shit, I dunno, do we want to let that tiger out of the bag? Those crazy shits can do a war.

I surely do. WORLD POLICE is a source of friction. Give Japan a military and the DPRK -- whenever it goes, it's inevitable that it goes at some point -- will be the moment in history when the US, China, Japan, Russia, and SK (and possibly the EU and everybody else) joins the battlefield all together as allies.

On the one hand, I want to bring as many nations as possible into the new-world-order that will arise from that future alliance (because it will be absolutely necessary, for humanitarian reasons). On the other, I am all in favor of international security which is not wholly dependent on US foreign policy. Give Japan an army and let them worry about the South China Sea. I mean I don't need the South China Sea for anything. You need it for anything?

2002 to 2006 would be the only time the Reagan era Republicans had the run of it likes this, correct? I mean, Republican President, House, Senate, and court?

Those'd be the years to look at in terms of what to expect for partisan policy making on the right. I suspect there will be far less walking back things then people realize (social security, wade vs roe, whatevs) because really the bird has flown the coop on those policies: they are popular, they are here to stay. Besides, it was a conservative court that enacted Roe vs Wade in the first place (albeit in the pre-Reagan days when there was less partisanship.)

If I had to guess, they will spend a lot of time trying to unravel Obamacare, and Trump will play with his pet initiatives (anti-TPP, Immigration, Border Wall). You can't really just rip up Obamacare without hurting the millions of people who wouldn't have access to healthcare without it. Trump said himself he is about Repeal and Replace. I don't know what he could even replace it with though. Fuckit, the guy's President, we'll see.

The big question I have right now is, you know, who is it exactly we just elected? You can't look back at Trump's policy record like you can another politician, just the shit he has said, and that doesn't... well, he's said a lot of random shit. He also has years of basically being a celebrity, so his public personality is to some extent groomed (hard to tell how much). And there is the question too of how things will go with such a historically inexperienced President.

And particularly with AHCA, certain parts of it are pretty popular even among republicans (notably the pre-existing conditions clause). I would expect that within the first 100 days as promised, he kills the enforcement arm of the bill (the penalty aspect), and puts a moratorium on the rest. Then cherry-picks the popular things, like pre-existing conditions, and puts them to congress piecemeal. Because the democrats can't very well vote that down or filibuster it, and there's no real GOP opposition to those elements -- the cost would be a concern, sure, but you can throw out the bathwater without killing the baby. Once the bill-cutter-upper comes out onto the table, I guarantee you, the Left will magically produce about a hundred better ideas than AHCA, and the Right already has several. This will not be a crisis.

.....anyway if you look at Trump as an experienced business mogul, instead of an inexperienced politician, all sorts of crazy shit starts to make sense. Pretend Mexico is the corporation owning the skyscraper next to Trump Tower. "We're gonna make Mexico pay for the wall" is a negotiation tactic. Mexico comes back with something like "Uh.... look we're not gonna pay for it, but build what you want." "Well can you at least pay for the paint on your side?" "....Do we get to pick the color?" "Sure." "Okay. But the wall can't be _______, we wanna talk about some things...." Now the wall is a reality, and that's all he was ever after -- consent to build a new wall. Politicians in this country haven't done that kind of negotiating in my lifetime anyway..... apparently it's effective so far? I mean we'll see but...... look all of NAFTA is already showing up to the table and it's been two days. Fight Trump on any backwards social shit, I'm there with ya, but... I mean I think he's got some chops. I think we're seeing it already and it has not been long.
I think this time the alarm and sorrow is more than just hyperbole. Don't you think?

Well I mean, it's also misconception and fabrication and violence and more violence with censorship and lies and other lies and probably a bunch of other things, but I'm getting tired of linking.

But what it boils down to is: almost literally the entire media was in Hilary's pocket, and it turns out they were spreading hate too. They're still doing it, too. Don't believe everything you see on TV. The people who did are positively losing their minds.

edit: Last one. This has all happened before and it will all happen again.
Consider Nationalist Libertarianism. It's like anarchy, but with gestapo.
I'm not responding to anybody in particular, but this certainly seems like it needs to be said.

This was a brutally negative campaign. That doesn't go away overnight. People who are upset have a right to be upset.

What I hope people realize is, everything we think we know about Donald is a product of campaigning, both the positive (he's gonna solve everything! Yay!) and the negative (He's literally hitler! Boo!). The feelings we all have right now are natural. It might be a mistake to think of those feelings as permanent or definitive -- this man has never once in his life held public office or undertaken public service of any kind.

There is literally no point in arguing over what this means. Nobody knows what this means. Trump voters bet on a flush draw (a risky hand, for non-poker-people) and the flop gave them two more cards. It's not over yet and the rest of the cards are invisible, so by all means, place your bets -- but we don't yet whether this gamble will pay off. It might. It might not. I sure hope it does.

Last thing, then I'll be done -- the whole world is on the same side here. It doesn't feel that way in November and I get it, this time it was even worse. We've had about 20 unbroken years of criminalized presidential politics (from Clinton the Rapist to Bush the War Criminal to Obama the Traitor to Clinton the Corrupt to Trump the Also Rapist). Does it feel like that's helping, to anybody? Or is that maybe contributing to the partisanship so strong that we could be stuck with Trump-Clinton in the first place? Maybe -- and this is easy to say from right of center, I know -- but maybe we should let the mean bad guy fire some people we didn't have the guts to fire, and then try to start from a better place in two years? Two years, by the way, not four -- don't forget to vote in your congressional primaries next year.
Fuck you, Americans.

To be honest, the voices of reason in this thread are probably correct. It's not the end of the world. The president of the US is not an all-powerful dictator, and certainly for those of us outside of the US, Trump's focus on internal policy may actually, somehow, bode well.

But that's not really the point. Some hysteria about WWIII isn't why people are feeling sick.

The point is that you've collectively decided to put a moronic, selfish, lying, serial sexual abusing, racist, incompetent, populist, and all-round vile man at the head of your country. You've declared that this is the man your country wants to lead it, whose vision of America is one you want to bring to fruition. This is the way you think the world should be.

That is what makes people feel sick. They feel sick that they, as a person, are represented by a disgusting excuse for a human being. Their political voice on the world stage is that of Donald fucking Trump. Donald Trump is how the rest of the world now has to perceive as being representative of American people and American society, because you've pointed at his disgusting behaviour and proudly declared "this is who we are".

That would certainly make me feel sick. It makes me sick on behalf of those US citizens I know who absolutely do not deserve to be viewed in such a way. And it should make any of you who doesn't support Trump's circus shitshow feel sick, too. You deserve better than this.

Sometimes the ideas and principles are above the pure practicality. Saying "oh, it's not so bad, don't be hysterical" is disingenuous. Be upset, be angry that this is the result, that you were left with a choice between two non-candidates.

That's only half the story though, isn't it? Things are bad enough in this country, for enough people, that Donald goddamn Trump was more palatable than four more years of the establishment. Think about that. Did you know that's how bad it was? I didn't. I've been in the CNN bubble like everybody else, and they sure as hell weren't talking about it. 58 million people -- that's a very big number -- are that desperate, and here I thought the biggest issue facing america was the use of public restrooms.

I don't believe in silent majorities. These people were always trying to be heard, and we've been ignoring them so completely that this result is unthinkable. People moved to tears in the Clinton campaign -- you shoulda been crying for these people long ago, and honestly I think you needed your hearts broken.

Granted, now we've got a deplorable in the white house. I mean..... some of that is disingenuous from the same people who cheered for Bill, but putting that aside I don't like this guy, and I'm gonna have to deal with that. We'll get over it if he's good.
