2:20AM ET. All signs say Trump will be the next president. I am absolutely giddy when I think about everybody who lost -- $2billion worth of lobbyists, establishment democrats, establishment republicans, potentially the most corrupt candidate we've ever had (who oh by the way openly despises half the country), and last but certainly not least, the unprecedentedly biased media.

For all that I'm still rather disappointed in who won -- but short of the McMullin Miracle, this was the best outcome I think I could've hoped for given the shitty options. I would've liked to see the Democrats pick up the Senate, especially in the wake of this (totally suppressed) republican demographic turning out with such fervor -- I think the GOP will be all to eager to consolidate that support long-term, which means they're gonna be loathe to resist any Trumpisms that might come out of the executive branch (and there may be lots of those). We really could've used a potent blue counterpoint on the Hill. Say lavvy.

Waiting for things to officially be official -- but, uh, hey world, buckle up for the wildcard. I'm not sold on 'lock her up,' but surely we can get behind 'drain the swamp.' That's long overdue. Will it happen? .....no, almost certainly not, but then again we said the same thing about President Trump.

edit: Officially official. Welcome to Trumpland.
<Snipped quote by ArenaSnow>

Welcome to the land where everyone watched the Super Bowl by the millions but suddenly aren't interested in TV once politics or literally anything important comes one. This is honestly one factor of why I think we just need to get rid of major league sports and erase that shit entirely.

Have you met Americans before?

I'm all for things that keep uninterested people away from the ballot box. People who don't give one single shit for three consecutive years, then magically wake up and find political religion for a few months during Negative Ad Year, are a blight. I blame these shenanigans on the Vote or Die campaign.

....and, also, I mean, politics by lowest-common-denominator was never really SUPPOSED to give us some brilliant government. The whole idea is to elect the government that pisses everybody off the least (ever heard that Churchill-ism, 'democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the other ones?') Having two jerks facing off for the presidency shouldn't be a big deal -- they shouldn't be capable of wrecking the whole damn country. So a big part of the problem is that we treat these 49-to-47 "blowout" victories among the 30% of the population that actually votes as some kind of 'mandate from the masses.' All we're really saying is "eh, I guess you'll do for a while." But that gets spun into "AMERICA HAS OFFICIALLY DECIDED THAT TACOS ARE BOTH FREE AND MANDATORY," or whatever nonsense the jerk was running on.
What I hate about the debates is, like..... Trump lists off a record of self-indictments by Clinton. Clinton avoids being rattled, doesn't acknowledge them -- Clinton won that exchange, in the eyes of the media. Clinton's emails are read off, she talks about X and gets caught in a lie -- but she doesn't get rattled, so it's imaginary-points for her. Call Trump an ineffective businessman (two blocks away from the Vegas strip casino that he fucking owns, and oh yeah it's gold plated), he gets rattled -- yup, must be an ineffective businessman!!

In this election more than any other I can remember, "Looking good while being terrible" just counts for so much more than "Being good and looking terrible." It's probably always been that way but now I notice it more than usual. The facts are inconvenient distractions from the theater, and I-shit-you-not 96% of the media is literally in Hilary's pocket, so they control all the theater too. It's ridiculous, I hate it, and I hope it doesn't work.

On the bright side -- there's a way to make it actually worse. I'm voting for chaos. You should vote for chaos too. Let's make this as terrible as possible.
So I send in my entry and then I come to this thread to talk about how I sent in my entry and notice that @Terminal has linked the rules on swearing, and uh.... well I'm not the person who asked the question about that, but damn, does it ever apply to my story in hindsight. Give "FOR KEN" a pass if wildly offensive people/language might get under your skin -- nasty people take center stage for most of the narrative. I tried some dark humor.
Responses, because those are fun too

Finishing!

@Habibi359 -- particles are probably the crappiest part of any language. Setting those errors aside, the writing in your story was pretty great. Since I cruelly made you sit through half a lecture on style, maybe.... hmm. Maybe there's a way you can craft sentences that utilizes that second-language weakness and sort of, like, incorporates it into your own bilingual style? I couldn't begin to invent such a thing, but I'd like to believe it could exist. Maybe putting the cart before the horse. Idunno. In any case you can probably ignore like half of what I wrote, lol, I am really full of myself sometimes -- the story you told was great.
Oh, dear. Where did all this doubt that I am suddenly feeling about the readability of my entry suddenly come from? Allow me to take cover while I expect the worst for some reason. Hahahaha.

No need for that!

bonus: @wisedragongirl, I did get to read yours, but I won't be able to critique until tomorrow. Sorry! I am getting to it though.
Desperately trying to get reviews for everybody, but with my work schedule it's gonna be one-at-a-time at best, sorry! To start:

I feel terrible leaving just one at a time but I *have* to stop. Skink I'm reading yours as soon as I get home tomorrow, pinky swear. Hopefully others as well.
Aaaaaaand done. With the first draft anyway. Gonna look it over tomorrow before sending it in. I can't decide whether I nailed my idea or got distracted by something sorta close to it.

edit: sent. Hope people like it.
New inspiration. I think it's pretty great but we'll see..... now to actually, you know, WRITE it....
