Serena looked at him, then touched the pendent around her neck. "Yami...Duke isn't the only one who has made it out of one of those duels...and kept their soul...I did. I'm not sure if Joey told you but...I wasn't the one who started fighting the Brotherhood...my brother was" She reached into her pocket and pulled out the picture from the apartment and showed it to Yami. "He is best friends with Adam...they were trying to track the attacks and find a pattern..."

She leaned against the wall by him, fighting back the tears that wanted to fall. "I had gotten back from a tournament in Europe...I didn't even know about all of this...I got a call from a friend of mine when I landed...that there was a huge duelist party downtown...so I went. When I got there...the fighting had already started. Kids running for cover as one of those hooded freaks was dueling...my brother. He was using his deck...cards he had been using since he was a child...I ran to help him but one of the hooded guys monsters took a shot at me and hit me...net thing I know Aaron is holding me in his arms, and this was around my neck" She pointed to the pendent.

"He took me to Adam and that's where I ran into the Professor...my father. Aaron and I haven't seen him since our mother died years ago...I slugged him in the face...but then they explained what had been happening and that people were getting hurt..." She paused, a few tears running down her cheek. "It was that night Aaron got another call...he went and tried to fight off that freak from a daughter of another professor...Hawkins I think his name is...Aaron lost that duel. His been in a coma ever since...and I took his place. The fighting....the darkness...I just fell into all of this because my brother needed me...now to find out that I have some part in the past...that my own father couldn't bother to tell me what this pendent could do...I just can't..." She lowered her head, tears running freely now.

"I'm a duelist...and I'm fighting a war to save the world...and I have no idea what I am or what I'm doing..." She covered her face with her hand.

Yami would of course notice how her brother looked like Mahad.

Kisa looked at her and said "Sissy...is that lady going to keep us safe? If so...why does everyone look so worried about it? If she keeps us safe...what is there to worry about?"

Maggie stood up and nodded, walking over to them. "In her letters to me she spoke of a grandfather on her father's side...Sebastain, maybe you and Ciel should have a word with him. I will handle things here..." Bane said "Why don't I go with Ciel to the grandfather's place and Sebastian stay with the boss...you two will do more good here then me, and I can protect Master Ciel and not draw attention"

Yugi nodded and left them alone as Serema turned and said "of course...what is it? Did you talk to your friends we are meeting?"

Grandpa thought for a moment then said "she's feels alone, Yami...lost in a world she barely understands. You need to let her know that she isn't alone. That you know how she feels and what she's going thru...and that she can count on you to be there when she needs help. She's been the front force in fighting this brotherhood...and I bet last night wasn't the first night she had a rough one. She needs to feel that she's got people who understand and will be there when she isn't a enough to push the darkness back"

Grandpa laughed softly and said "Yami, what I mean by secret is that history tries not to tell it. I may have the few records left of part of that poor guardians take..." He got up and said "I will look around my office while you kids are out and see what I can find"

Yugi was watching Serena from down the hallway and sighed "poor Serena..."

Babe nodded and suddenly Maggie said "I believe her father wasn't fully human. Or the mother. Could be either" she didn't turn as she spoke

Grandpa looked at him and said "I'm sure I do in my office...the guardian of the pharaoh...that tale is a secret for a reason" he sat down and said "why do you ask?"

Serena was standing in the hallway, her eyes closed.

Yugi looked at Serena who wiped her eyes and muttered "he isn't my father...not anymore..." She turned back and headed inside. "Let's get ready for your friends..."
