John put his arm around her and said “no worries, Trish is a smart girl. She has hood senses” Trish smiled at him and said “I’ll ask before I look at anything. I don’t want another monster to come after us. Last night was bad enough…”

Serena was holding her face, her body aching in pain. She knew one more hit would put her down but she didn’t want the others to know that. She didn’t want to seem weak after all of this.

When they pulled up Trish was looking out the window and said “whoa, it’s huge. Way bigger then the apartment” John opened the door and picked Kay up and got out. He left it open for Serena but she was slow to move to the door, keeping her head low. Trish jumped out and ran for the door, wanting to get it for John. John paused by Josh and said “Ms Shade looks like she could use some help…she is not in great shape. But she will hide it the best she can…”

Serena smiled at him softly and said as he carried her “thank you…I’ve had a few bad days…” Trish smiled, seeing her brothers face and knowing that look. She ran ahead to Chas held his hand as they crossed into the parking lot.

John set Kay in the back and rested a hand on her cheek. “Please be alright love…I’m sorry…” he moved to the end so he could climb in so he could help Serena in once josh got there. Trish didn’t even pause as she got into the front and sat in the middle. “Come On Joshy”

John smirked at the other two then said “let’s go home Chas…”

John nodded and said “give Kay to me. We need to get out of here” he walked over and picked Kay up bridal style and headed out of the room. Serena flinched then looked at Josh and smiled weakly.

“Thank you…” she limped with him as Trish moved and helped Serena’s other side as they headed for the exit. Serena looked weakly at Chas and asked “did…you guys drive the taxi…” she stumbled and fell into josh fully, blushing a little as she did.

John kicked opened the door and looked around. “It’s clear. Where is the taxi Chas?”

John groaned and opened his eyes, seeing Chas holding him upright and saw Kay and Serena. He blinked and said “What the bloody…is going on…” he sat up then looked down and he said “bloody girl…she healed too much…” he looked up as Josh walked back in and smiled at the girl.

“She’s alright then? Not hurt at all?” Trish smiled and shook her head. “No, thanks to you guys…thank you.” Serena was leaning against the wall, looking like death as she muttered “we need to get out of here…we can’t let the doctors see how John is now…yesterday he was a mess and now his totally cured…” John frowned and said “what about you? You don’t look…” Serena gave him an icy look that even shut the hellblazer up.

“Josh…if you could…help us get…Kay out of here…that…that…” she lowered her head, the room spinning again.

Serena watched the whole thing and said “they have formed a magic bond…I’ve read about them…try and wake him up. If he is healed he can help get us out of here. We can’t stick around now.” She flinched as she picked Kay up and laid her on a nearby cot, most likely used by the doctors for power naps, and stumbled and leaned against the wall, breathing hard.

John groaned, trying to open his eyes but needed some help to wake up. Serena looked down the hallway and muttered “I hope those two are okay…”

Trish was holding onto Josh and said “we have to go back…they could need help. That monster is scary…”

John felt her next thin but couldn’t open his eyes until he felt stronger arms holding him and patting his face.

Serena caught Kay, lowering her to the floor and said “Kay…I got you hold on…” she was shaking badly then looked at Chas as he held John. “Is he okay?”

As the doors opened Serena bolted out of the lift, not letting her pain get the better of her. She ran past Kay and yelled “Josh is in the lift! Chas come on!” Trish looked up and yelled “Josh! Big brother! The monster came back!”

John was fighting to keep holding the monster but it was stronger then him. Soon it threw John off of it and John slammed into the far wall, sliding down as the eater floated above him. It hissed at him as John forced open his eyes. “Back off…” the water chuckled and then grabbed John and slammed him into the wall. It went back to feeding off of him as it said “I’ll send you to hell, blazer…” John cursed but then passed out as Serena hit the door frame and yelled “John!” She waved her hands and shadows shot out and wrapped around the eater. She yelled “I banish you back to the realm where you came! Be gone!” The shadows snapped and pulled the eater back into its plane, John sliding down the wall and to the floor, his head on his chest and passed out.

Serena stood there panting and stumbled back, then said as Kay and Chas ran up “it’s gone…she’s safe…John is…” she flinched and fell backwards, spent.

Serena turned and smiled a true honest smile and said “I wouldn’t do anything else then help others in need…come on” she walked away and pushed herself to the lifts. She had a feeling they would be needed downstairs. She got into the lifts and waited till the guys were in, swaying on her feet again but she fought it back.

Trish looked up, her face covered in her tears. “Brother? His here? Please I want to go home” she hugged Kay and let her get her out of the room. John got the creature pinned and was holding it down but he wasn’t at his full strength so the creature got a hold of him and started to feed off of him, draining him as he yelled “get out now! Go Kay!” He felt himself getting weaker but he couldn’t let it go. Trish’s life depended on it.

Serena nodded and said “don’t worry. She’s still alive. If she wasn’t my shadow wouldn’t have found her. It can tell the difference between living and non living…” she made it to the hallway and paused, getting light headed and the hallway spun for a moment. “We just need to…get down there…”

John followed her and pushed his limits to run down the hallway. He slammed into the wall and shoved the door open. They saw the girl hiding under the table and above the table was a hooded creature. But instead of the black hood, this one had white hood. John cursed and said “She is awake and it’s hungry” he whistled and said “hey you git! Mess with someone your own size!” He looked at Kay and said “get the girl. Burn that thing if you have too. Just get her out” he an forward and tackled the creature, clearing the path for Kay.

Serena rubbed her neck and said “okay…she didn’t fall into the coma till she got here. So she could have been affected by the nightmare eater when they came. So it couldn’t have been planned unless her inhaler was messed with…” she looked at Chas and said “with the eater gone, she would have woken up by now. Where…” then her shadow returned and returned to her shadow. Serena closed her eyes and read it before saying “basement. We are heading to the morgue. Come on” she started to limp out, using the wall.

John stepped in with her and as the doors closed said “me neither…but we will find her. Let’s check the morgue first. If she was affected by the eater then she would be waking up soon…and if she wakes up in a body locker…she is going to be scared to death” then he paused and his eyes got wide. “Holy…that’s the whole point. Fear.” He looked at Kay and said “it’s not someone after her…it’s someone who wants fear. I bet she is scared of small spaces. It’s the nightmare eaters mate. They sometimes travel in pairs” John limped over and tapped the down button. “We have to hurry now…”
