Iris walked over and showed him an image of one of the markings. “She has them all over. These were on her shoulder over the wound.” They looked like tribal tattoos of old world, but with mystic traits as well.

Scarlet looked over and said “Bane might know. He knows old stuff like this from his historical perspective. He is Viking linked” Iris nodded and said “well we should hit the the bunks. I don’t think anyone should be alone tonight till we are sure about the purists location”

Scarlet nodded and said “not a word…totally get that. I wouldn’t say anything…” she glanced at him then with his last statement said “my guess it’s because of who she is without the mask. She must be something important to hide this. Maybe she’s a higher up who is sick of the system. Or someone powerful that can risk being seen in the group or it puts us at risk…could be a number of things to be hones”

She sighed and added “and I do care about the boss…she saved me…got my life back for me…I’ve never seen them hurt like this…”

The door opened and Iris stepped out. “Boss is recovering slowly. The guys are as well. The boss will need time. And I found strange markings on the boss when I was treating the others wounds. You guys know anyone who knows old languages?”

Scarlet nodded and said “Iris is the best there is…she is a doctor. Has a degree…just doesn’t like to use the title…” she wiped her eyes and said “sorry about before…it just shocked me the boss is a girl and we didn’t notice. I mean…at all. She’s good at hiding anything that could give it away…”

She sighed and her breath was shaky. “I don’t mind blood…I treat wounds it was seeing it like that…it hit hard…”

Iris was treating the boss’s other wounds and muttered “if this were anyone else…they wouldn’t have made it back…who are you? It would be wrong to pull the mask off would It…” she moved back and then went to check on Dante and Bane and they were both stable.

Scarlet nodded and said “just needed the cold air…I’m okay really…” she wiped her eyes and added “seeing her that bad…it just reminded me of past…problems. I panic and my mind goes different ways…” she wouldn’t look at him.

Iris was checking the skin and paused. A mark was over the heart and she frowned. “Boss what have you been thru…”

John waved goodnight and looked at her smiling softly. “I’m alright love…do you think we should check on Serena before hitting the hay?” He didn’t want to worry her anymore so he wasn’t bringing up that he was still out of it.

Iris glared and said “scarlet was in the slave camps before the boss brought her out. She doesn’t do well with blood because it causes flash backs. So shut up. It will take hours for this to fix the damage. Dante will be fine when he wakes up. Bane I need more time with…”

She rubbed her face and said “go check on Scarlet. Make sure your chewing her out didn’t trigger her PTSD…”

Scarlet was sitting on the railing outside, looking out at the city. She had tears in her eyes.

Iris moved to place the skin as Scarlet moved back and walked away. Iris muttered “she doesn’t do well with blood and wounds Matias. She was trying to distract herself from it. Stop being a dick”

She placed the skin on the wound and it started to glow as it started the repair work. Iris then smacked Matias in the arm. “Knock it off. Your freaking out. The wound is bad but it’s okay. We have it handled.”

Scarlet held the shirt up so he could get to the wound and said “holy crap…the boss is a girl. It’s going to blow the guys minds…”

Iris moved to kit and pulled out a box and said “I have some fake skin we can put on it to help with the healing. How bad is the wound?”

Scarlet was looking closely and said “it’s smart armor. I think the best from the bolt is what broke thru it. We need to find the latches. Let’s get the cloak off”

They started to pull the fabric off and back until they saw the chest plate. At the corners were latches which Iris undid. When they pulled it back, they heard the pressure release. When they finally got the armor off they stopped. The wound was sitting under the heart, but there was a shirt covering more then the wound.

Scarlet looked up and said “the boss is a girl?”

Iris moved over and said “they don’t need to. They are out cold…the shock must have worn off. We need to lay them down and get this off” scarlet helped over the boss to free bed and laid them on it. “Come on, let’s get this stuff enough to get to the wound…any idea where this thing started? It’s like a wrapped mess”
