John nodded and said “alright.” John listened to her closely then asked slowly “so…someone fed him the trash about the spell. So what was the spell meant to do I wonder…we know it was to bring something from another world…but who?”

He closed his eyes a moment to focus then his eyes opened. “Hold on…what if…Serena was attacked as she received her powers…was that at the same time you appeared in Kay? Or I mean when Kay started to be attacked as well? Was it at the same time?”

Scarlet nodded and summoned her wings again. She then said “if you did need me…just start a fire with the ashes I put in the bag you asked for…” she jumped into the air and waved, then vanished into the night sky.

Scarlet sighed and said “Matias…everyone has been targeted at some point. After tonight we just want to make sure everyone is safe…I was grabbed outside my family home when I was taken…I don’t want anyone else getting hurt if I can avoid it…”

She folded her arms and sighed. “I know I sound crazy…it’s just the team is the closest thing I have to family…”

Scarlet landed in front of him and folded her arms. “When we’re you going to tell us you had someone break in? Well it’s clear out here. No heat patterns or anything…”

She sighed and added seeing his face “what does it bug you so much that we worry? Want to keep everyone safe?”

John nodded and said “that makes sense…” he sighed and closed his eyes a moment. “Do you know why that freak went after Serena? Maybe Fee has ideas?”

John sighed and nodded, taking her hand and kissing it. “Your right…I guess I just like being the white knight for once…but you were amazing today…you know that right?” He smiled weakly flinched at his leg a little as he moved slightly. “Dang it..the bullet might have hit the bone…not bad just sore still…”

John sighed and said “I feel like I should have done more…you and Serena haven’t been in the dark world as long as me…I should hav been able to fight back…not let a dumb bullet hole stop me…” he looked away from her, anger and guilt burning thru him.

Scarlet jumped out of the car and said “I want to go around first and make sure no one broke in or anything. Iris will kick my but if I don’t check things out before heading back.”

She summoned her wings and floated into the air, flying around the back of the house to check things out.

Scarlet thought for a few minutes and then said “she saved me three years ago…she was forming the rebellion then. Bane was already part of the group, but no one else…” she looked out the window and said “how did you join up, I never heard the story”

Scarlet looked at him and said “the boss was able to get me a place in Pixie Village. A nice old couple owns the small cottage I rent but they are good people. Like I said…I owe the boss my life”
